  1. I may(or may not) get crucified by suggesting this...but why not Carlos Lee? He makes $6 mill this year(which would cancel out Ortiz's salary), it would get rid of his $9 mill on the books for next year, and it opens up the team a lot more, allowing perhaps Harris to try LF, or have Rowand play there a little more(along with Gload), and we can then get Finley and not have too many good players on the team. Personally, I'd love the move. But maybe I'm the only one that would.
  2. LMAO It's just such a nice sight for sore eyes to see Koch in a different uniform. If I could help it, everyone on the site would have that picture somewhere in their sig or avatar.
  3. Their offense is weak, and their rotation is decent(Radke, Santana, and Silva are all solid, but Lohse sucks, and Guerrier and Greisinger have been not-so-good)...they've been relying on their bullpen the entire year(which is not a bad thing at all). They really cannot make just one or two moves and improve their team a ton...they are just not in that position. They can improve their team through trades(a good start for them would be by trading Jones for some pitching...with the emergence of Lew Ford, Jones is very expendable for the Twins). However, we are in the position where 1 starter and 1-2 good relievers pushes us over the top. Our offense is arguably the best in the league(atleast top 3), and the rotation, while it has been bad recently, has been solid overall. The bullpen has been the biggest problem for us, and there are all kinds of solid relievers available around the deadline and even through the waiver wire in August. The Twins are probably a better team right now, but there is not much they can do to improve their team a whole hell of a lot. They just have to wait until Shannon Stewart gets back. Meanwhile, there is a ton we can do to improve our team, be it by getting some more starting pitching, by getting some more relievers, or by getting a big time LH bat for the middle of our lineup.
  4. No, not yet. Why the hell would you think it happened anyways? Nothing is certain yet. :dips***
  5. Just to settle the argument by keninem and tex... Frank is our 1Bman on the AS ballot. Not Konerko. Both can make it.
  6. I do recall giving up Quintero, and that he did have good defense. Does not surprise me that he's up though...with Hernandez on the DL and all.
  7. Well, that explains a lot. LMFAO. Our former windsock is blowing around elsewhere. Why does this not surprise me?
  8. Ozzie Guillen is the voice of reason for all. Viva la Ozzie!
  9. By 6 guys excelling in their roles, I was more or less referring to each guy doing well in his own role...not having 6 guys you can trot out there in a playoff game with the score close. We only have 2 guys out there in the pen who can do that right now, and I can only see us having 5 tops. Jon Adkins, for instance, has been very good in the role he has with the team...mopup. Come in, pitch 3 innings and just keep the score close. He's done an excellent job doing just that. You put him in a pressure situation, and he is worse then Koch or Jackson. I'm not the brightest kid in the world, but I'm not dumb enough to think that you can get 6 quality arms in the pen...especially the White Sox. In fact, I would venture to say that the pen we had last year had more quality arms in it then most in the majors. I have no problem with Urbina. He's a good pitcher and has been very good in the past. I assume other teams would have interest in him, but with his numbers this year, maybe not. Personally, I'm very, very surprised Florida went after Koch before they went after Urbina again. He was very good down the stretch for them last year. Another thing I could see happening is that KW will make another August move or two. I could see him picking up a solid reliever, much like he did last year with Sullivan. I do envision the bullpen having a few OK arms in it...more then we have now anyways.
  10. No hes not. His ERA is f***ing terrible(about 5.50), his WHIP is in Koch-land(1.40 or so), and he is allowing a BAA of .291. That's f***ing horrible. It's time for Mike Jackson to go on the 60-day DL for a sore shoulder(but in reality for sucking major ass) SSI...the pitcher does have to face one batter or record an out, and that is an and/or situation. If he comes into the game in the bottom of the 8th with 2 outs and a runner on 1B, and he picks off the guy on 1B to end the inning, he does not have to face the hitter. However, I do believe that if it does not end the inning, he does have to face atleast one batter. That's the only situation where a pitcher can come in and not have to face the batter...or atleast the only one I can think of off the top of my head.
  11. You're not the only one. I have said before that, at the very, very, very, very least, you have to get one more quality reliever, because if we can get to the playoffs with those 3, we then have Garland/Scho in the pen too, and we have 4 quality arms down there. We need two arms though. There has to be 6 good pitchers in that pen, each excelling in their own roles. That's not even close to happening right now.
  12. This post is so far from the truth it is not even funny. First of all, the YANKEES do not even have a full 5-man rotation...they are looking for another starter for a reason, no? There are about two teams in the majors who really could not upgrade their #5 starter a hell of a lot(those two being the Cubs and the Marlins). Our situation is just a bit more severe then most others...that's all. ANY team(aside from the Cubs and Fish) would be happy with 5 IP 1 ER from their starter. Period. We could have also been in the playoffs if we had a 5th starter, if we did not have Koch, if we won a few more close games, blah, blah, blah. If ifs and buts were candy and nuts...guess what, it didn't happen. We use hindsight, see the mistake, and fix it. Of course, it still hasn't been fixed(though a few more outings from Rauch like this, and I could be saying differently) No we won't. Most of us felt this team was a .500 team or worse. The fact that Ozzie has kept us in it until now, and that we are probably a very good pitcher away from not only making the playoffs, but potentially making noise in the playoffs, is worth it. Ozzie has given this team life. He has done the exact OPPOSITE of what JM did.
  13. I almost hate to say this...but due to Thomas not getting the recognition he has deserved for some time now... Frank Thomas = Most Underrated Player in the League People have forgotten how good he actually is.
  14. Nobody does OK, I'm not that mean. But we did have dasox86 going for quite some time in the chatroom.
  15. Stars of the future? WTF are you smoking? We almost always sell. But just to go along with what you say, of that great minor league system we used to have way back in 2000, how many have become very good major leaguers? Kip Wells and Mark Buehrle? Wow, what a crop. Most of the time, prospects do not become anything big. We usually do not give up big time prospects at the deadline for big time players. There is a correlation at times. You settle for mediocre players, guess where your franchise is heading.

    WHY

If Rauch gets through 5 innings without much damage, I'd let him try and get through the 6th. If he gets roughed up, call on Marte to finish the 6th, and then pitch the 7th, and then call on Shingo to get a 2-inning save. That's maximizing your bullpen. Of course, then both Marte and Shingo are probably fried for Friday's game against the Cubs, but that's fine...we'd just hope that we scored 10 runs within the first 3 innings, and then scored 7 more in the next 3. I don't think even our bullpen can blow a 17 run lead(though I could be wrong).
  17. I come in here to read about the 1980 White Sox, and I see a fight. $20 on Josh!
  18. YES Estes is awful. He can stay in Colorado for all I care. Million dollar arm. 1 dollar brain.
  19. Wait, you're still in school? I got out of school the Tuesday before Memorial Day.
  20. I'm sure they can. I mean, I learned how to spell "things" when I was in 1st or 2nd grade. I will say one thing though...the division will end differently for the first time in about 6 years. I do not think the DRays will finish last. I don't think they'll finish at or above .500...but they will not finish last.
  21. Since I know very little about basketball...how much does Chandler make? And how much does Harrington make?
  22. BrandoFan Spiff sox4lifeinpa cwsox Young Gun You have your list. Go.
  23. Hell yeah I remember Highlights. That was the s***. The only thing I ever worried about was the hidden pictures puzzle. I could give a s*** about the stories in it. BTW, you think they stopped making it? Think again.
  24. When the majority of the fans figured out the team's two biggest problems in mid-to-late April, and management STILL has not fixed these problems that STILL exist, there should be 100+ threads that are created bashing management. Everytime the 5th starter is s***ty, this should appear ----> :fyou KW Everytime a s***ty reliever gives up a run or two, this should appear ----> :fyou Everytime a guy that the White Sox could have picked up to be the 5th starter or be a good reliever for us that most fans wanted but was not picked up or one that was traded for relatively cheap is not had the by the White Sox, this should appear ----> :fyou Get the picture, or need I continue?
