The Twins were 5 games under .500 and 7.5 back at the ASB last year, and won the division EASILY. If we were to hypothetically get swept by the Indians, and drop down to 4th place, we would NOT be out of the race. I mean, there's ONLY 3+ months left in the season..we are SO screwed. Get real. It is f***ing JUNE. Not SEPTEMBER. We get an ace-type pitcher, we are good as f***ing gold. Period.

Just like Lofton's another bum. Wait a second...
-
Take a shot at the Red Sox(and Yankees for that matter). I love it.
-
I actually heard it could involve us too. Maggs for Garciaparra and Williamson or something like that.
-
Crawford won't stink it up. And Jeremy Reed is not the messiah. He's a good, pure hitter. He does nothing spectacular. If we could, I'd trade Reed for Crawford in a second, and I'd even give up another prospect. I'd just prefer to have the LH bat that we get be able to provide some power.
-
Who cares how high he had to jump, he still robbed it. It locked up a win for Buehrle. It was f***ing b****in.
-
Your bullpen must f***ing suck ass if Billy Koch is a welcome addition.

The Indians red jersey from the 70s, Padres brown and yellow 80s jersey, Astros rainbow 80s jersey...I'm not sure what it is, but it seems that the uglier they are, the better. I wouldn't mind having one myself...I just don't know exactly why. Maybe because it stands out. Or because it's older.

It's funny how you guys suck!

Oh, if we're going with acronyms here, let me in. Strikes Out Swinging Again Too bad Dusty Baker doesn't realize that letting his pitchers throw 130+ constantly does not bode well for their elbow and shoulder in the long term. And I always thought Prior and Wood were going to be a hell of a good 1-2 for a long time. -
Yankees "real close" to acquiring Freddy Garcia
witesoxfan replied to redandwhite's topic in Pale Hose Talk
They have Jorge Posada...if they wanted Freddy Garcia, they could just give the M's Posada, take on most of Posada's contract, and be done with it. They could then trade that Navarro kid straight up for Jason Kendall(and I'm sure Pittsburgh would do that...not only do they get rid of Kendall's huge ass contract, they also get a young catcher in the process...what's not to like?), or they can give their top 2 or 3 prospects to Detroit and get IRod. The Yankees can make almost any move they want to right now. Nothing can hurt them long-term or short-term. They have all the money a team could ever need. What they lose in prospects and actual MLB players via trade they can just replace in FA the next year. It sucks ass, but it's the truth. -
It very well could. I'm so f***ing giddy right now. I'm still f***ing hopping around.
-
I ran around yelling "IT'S OVER!" Of course, I got the why's...and then I said Koch got traded. Then my dad asked me how the hell they did that and who would want him.
-
If it's true, that is f***ing awesome ass s***. If not, I just ran around my f***ing house for nothing.
-
I wouldn't. Maybe it's just me, but I don't really want to see Tony Armas or Jason Jennings starting a playoff game for us. I want Schmidt/Johnson or even Garcia. Not Armas or Jennings.
-
I hate to suggest this, but what if we traded Konerko for a pitcher(any pitcher...some team, after seeing him put up great numbers, will take him, and may give us a pretty damn good pitcher too), and put Thomas at 1B more often? Thomas's defense is god-awful, but that would allow us to put Everett at DH, or Lee at DH, or maybe try Lee or Everett at 1B as well. If at all possible, I'd like to see Finley(Finley hits RHP with Willie at 2B and Crede at 3B with Uribe subbing for Harris/Jose/Crede quite often, Jose/Finley split time against LHP))

Garret Anderson - signed 4-year, $48 mill deal with Angels 2000 - .286 35 117 .827 2001 - .289 28 123 .792 2002 - .306 29 123 .871 2003 - .315 29 116 .885 Magglio Ordonez - looking for $15 mill a year(I think he deserves $12-13) 2000 - .315 32 126 .917 2001 - .305 31 113 .914 2002 - .320 38 135 .978 .317 - .317 29 99 .926 Given, the Angels payroll is much larger then the White Sox is...but Maggs does deserve more then Anderson per year, but less then Vlad. That puts him in the $13-14 mill range, be it with the White Sox or the Dodgers or whomever.

I can't believe no one has said something yet...

Is "no one" considered a negative word? No, not, won't, hardly...are, but I'm not sure "no one" is. I don't think that is a double negative. -
Astros are solid. Probably a distant #3 or #4 in the majors behind the Marlins and Cubs, and possibly the A's. Phillies are beyond overrated. Kevin Millwood is getting $10 mill a year to suck ass, Milton is solid, but nothing more, Wolf and Padilla are gone, and Myers is still mediore(though he could be good). Dodgers are way overrated. Ishii walks about 5 per 9, Weaver is mediocre, and Jose Lima, Odalis Perez, and Wilson Alvarez are nothing to write home about. A's probably have best rotation in the AL. Zito-Hudson-Mulder can stack up to anyone's 1-2-3 and Harden and Redman are very good #4 and #5 pitchers. Top 4 in the majors. Red Sox, as I said, are great 1-4, but lack a very good #5. Yankees rotation is probably worse then ours. Brown's DLing, Mussina's hurt, Contreras blows...Lieber's solid and Vazquez is good, but you can't count on Tanyon Sturtze to make too many starts for you. When healthy, their rotation is solid...nothing more, nothing less. And I don't know what starter the Yanks will get. They'll have to pay a hell of a price to get Garcia over the Sox, and I don't know if they can do it.

VALENTIN. No 'e' My biggest pet peeve ever. Regardless, Jose batting cleanup is not that big of a deal. Make a mountain out of a mole hill why don't you. He's probably the most versatile hitter in the lineup. We didn't lose because Jose was batting cleanup, we lost because we only got 3 hits. -
1-4 the Red Sox stands up, but 5(I think the Red Sox is Arroyo?) is where they fall off. 1-4 is all you need for the playoffs, hell, all you really need with a real good staff is 1-3. Having a deep-ass starting rotation is good for the postseason in the fact that it then deepens your bullpen.
-
Yeah it was. Umps f***ed up. f***ers.
-
I would love to add Pavano to the staff. The only team, IMO, that can really compare to the Cubs rotation is the Marlins. The only team. Period.
-
IMO, the 2000 offense clicked better. They could put up runs in bunches. However, I think this offense will be better suited for the postseason. We have a LH bat in the middle of the lineup instead of at the top(Valentin in both cases), and I think we will get another LH bat somewhere down the line as well. 2000 will have the stats and clutch hits over the 2004 offense, however, I think we all will like the 2004 offense more in the end.

Kobe's great. Period. One of the dumbest trades in the history of sports to this day is still Vlade Divac for Kobe Bryant. Poor Hornets.
