Pretty Big Three Way Trade Rumor
witesoxfan replied to JDsDirtySox's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
One thing I will mention... This deal seems very similar to the one proposed during the ARod fiasco with going to Boston. Something along the lines of a 6-team deal(with Boston receiving about everyone and everything they need while other teams do nothing to really improve themselves at all)...I think it had the White Sox getting Johnny Damon and Scott Williamson, Texas getting Manny from Boston and Eckstein from Anaheim, Garciaparra going to Anaheim, Trot Nixon going to Milwaukee, and the Red Sox getting ARod, Maggs, Geoff Jenkins, and Jarrod Washburn...it was some crazy-ass s*** like that, and it was totally goofy. I believe it was posted on here, and if I can find it, I will provide a link EDIT: I found the link. Only problem is the Red Sox site crashed and the backup was gone along with everything else, so the article in reference is no longer in existance. To prove it was around, here is the link to the thread in which it was brought up. From what I can tell, it kind of broke down something like this... Boston gets: ARod, Maggs, Jenkins, Beltran, Mota, and Perez Texas gets: Lowe and Miller KC gets: Nixon and prospects Milwaukee gets: Kapler and prospects LA gets: Manny Chicago gets: Johnny Damon and Scott Williamson It was something close to that(though Lowe may have been involved as well...it was too long ago and is not mentioned anywhere in there), and I remember a lot of teams getting ripped off in the deal horribly, like the Sox and Dodgers. I do remember thinking right away that Milwaukee would be getting raped in the deal...give up a good LH hitter for a guy who won't hit 10 homers? As I said in that thread, and as I will say in this thread...a Red Sox fan's wet dream. BTW, here's a link... LINK -
Fastball, belt high. How many hitters in the majors miss that pitch?

LMFAO...LeCroy is so fast!

Atta kid Scho. Way to get out of that inning

That play at 1B was f***ing close. Real f***ing close

Alright, thanks...apparently, this gun is just a few MPH's slow. Cheat...no problem. Work is just fine(so long as you're working ) Anyways, I was just curious because if Lohse really has had a decline in velocity, that is most likely the cause of his s***ty start thus far. His success prior to this season was mainly due to his mid-90s fastball. Without it, he is very hittable. I was wondering if his decline in velocity is why Carlos was ahead of everything in his at-bat. I mean, I figure last year that long foul ball CLee hit tonight would have been a homer. This year, he ends up only with a double. Oh well, he still scored BTW, thanks Qwerty

So I'll ask again... OK, to get back to the game here... What's Scho hitting on the FSChi radar gun? Because both he and Lohse are mid-80s on the Twins broadcast. I am guessing it is because the the radar gun is slow, but I'm just curious

.320 20 110 and .275 25 90...what's the big difference? Jose signed that deal in the 00-01 offseason, after having that .275 25 90 year. I guaran-f***ing-tee you that the difference is not $15 mill worth. During that time period, Jose actually got took a very big paycut...I'm pretty sure it was Baltimore who wanted him and offered a better deal to go play in Baltimore(which is more hitter friendly than USCF), but he gave us a hometown discount. Errors are OVER-f***ING-RATED. They are a 60s and 70s stat, not a 21st century stat. They do NOT tell a true value of a SS defensively. Royce Clayton made very few errors, but no major leaguer should make errors if there range is 3 steps either way. Either way, Jeter still makes 15-20 errors a year, and his range factor is always well below the league average, except for his 2 first full years in the league(when he was 22 and 23). I'm not quite sure how you lose about 3 steps both ways as a 24-year old, but Derek found a way to do it. Give me Jose over Jeter ANY day of the week, especially considering how much both make. This sentence is so far from the truth I don't know where to begin. First of all, 3 to 4 years ago, the market was very high...Kevin Appier found a way to get a $10 mill a year somehow...I think I've said enough, but I'll continue. Due to that, you had to pay a lot for players, which is why ARod got $25 mill a year(and while he obviously doesn't deserve that, he actually deserves some of that money). Meanwhile, Derek Jeter is putting up mediocre numbers for $20 mill...that's overpaid. The only year he "earned" his money was 1999 when he hit about .350 25 110 with a .990 OPS(and that is still the only year to date that he has broken the .900 OPS barrier...all other years, he's been below that, though he did come close with .896 in 2000). He's worth $10 mill tops, and personally, I don't think he's worth that...I would maybe give him $8 mill a year, and that's just because he's been to the WS and he's done very well there. Secondly, the Chicago White Sox are NOT a small market team...they are the exact OPPOSITE of a small market team, considering they play in the 3RD largest market in the US. They are a team that has a firm payroll. There is a HUGE difference between a small market team and a small payroll team. HUGE. And thirdly...the market for players is the same for everyone in the MLB. They are all in the same league, and all are in the same general area(I can't say same country because Montreal and Toronto are in Canada). Teams have to be careful of how they spend their money if they do not spend a lot, but if they want an Alex Rodriguez, they would have to pay $25 mill regardless of whether they are in Texas, California, Illinois, New York, Massachusetts, or Ontario. I've wanted these players with ugly contracts dealt because it's doing the exact opposite of what we should be doing, which is spending money efficiently. Unless you can afford it, you should spend $10 mill on 3 or 4 players instead of 1. You should spend $20 mill on 7 or 8 players instead of 2 or 3. That's why I want Lee, Konerko, and Koch(who make about $20 mill between the 3 of them) out of here...they are all solid players(with the potential exception of Koch), but they make too much money, especially when we could have had a guy like Frank Cattalanotto for $1 mill(he has been a steal for Toronto), or a guy like Reggie Sanders for $3 mill a year(yet another steal, this time for St. Louis), or Jose Cruz for $1-2 mill(which is a pretty good deal...not a steal, but he's still a solid player nonetheless)...you get the picture.

This is true Those two are mainly for the salary part. The prospects are what cover the actual players. We can't trade for Mulder OR Schmidt and keep Lee, Konerko, and Koch(you can include Maggs there too). Period.

He's pretty damn good. Part of me wants to see him this year, but part doesn't. I don't know which part I should listen to. I suppose he could be a September call-up and he could pitch in a less meaningful game...say perhaps we are 5 games up with 10 games left and we are up 8-0(or down 8-0) in a game that really has little importance.

Here's my crazy prediction... Minnesota doesn't score 8 runs in the series.
-
No Dumbf***s like this need to be ripped into. What if we were to call up Arnie Munoz this year, and he sucks ass in a start...you do realize that if someone else saw this and we didn't rip into this guy, he would think it is perfectly OK to rip into a young pitcher for one bad game. That's not right.

Eleanor Rigby, Norwegian Wood, and Yesterday. Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds is pretty trippy too. BTW, is Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds really when they were on LSD or not? I realize the initials and everything, but I seem to recall a friend of mine who loves the Beatles told me that it wasn't. Maybe I was just being a dumbass then and I heard him wrong.

I'm thinking if there is any night where fireworks could occur, Friday could be the night. Kyle Lohse comes to town with his ERA of 6.45, his WHIP of 1.96, and his BAA of .327, along with a K/BB of LESS THAN ONE(which DOES mean he has more walks then K's this year) and a K/9 of roughly 4.5. He's fastball is straighter then an arrow and we could light him up Sidney Ponson style Not sure what to think about Saturday's game. Greis just had a good game against a mediocre Oakland offense, but he's been lit up in the past. I figure if Elo shows up and gives up 3 runs or less, we have a damn good shot. Sunday's game will be a good one. I will make sure to watch that one. Silva has pitched pretty f***ing good this year(as his 5-0 record shows), but his last time out against Seattle, he gave up something like 11 hits in 8 innings, and he threw a career high for pitches IIRC. He could be shaky this next start, and if he gives up 11 hits again, I guaran-f***ing-tee you that he won't give up only 2 runs. It will probably be more like 6 or 7. To put it plainly, I love our chances of making some noise in this series, and hopefully knock the Twinkies on their ass. If we can do that, I can only hope they continue it next weekend when I'm (hopefully) in Minnesota watching the Sox kill the Twinks again.

People are talking about getting Mulder OR Schmidt. Why can't we get Mulder AND Schmidt? Have Lee and Koch be apart of both trades. Trade say Lee and a prospect or two for Mulder(however, we'd either have to take on someone from the A's who's making about $1.5 mill or chip in about $1.5 mill...they do have a strict budget), and then trade Koch and Scho(along with prospects) to San Francisco for Jason Schmidt. Our rotation is Schmidt, Mulder, Loaiza, Buehrle, Garland, with a pen of Marte, Politte, Shingo, Jackson, Wunsch, Adkins, and Cotts. Marte closes, Politte and Shingo are setup guys, Jackson, Adkins, and Cotts can be used as middle or long relief, and Wunsch is used as a LOOGY. At some point, Adkins can be sent down to open a spot for another bench player, but that could be decided later. The lineup looks like... Harris - CF Uribe - 2B Maggs - RF Thomas - DH Valentin - SS Konerko - 1B Reed/Crede - LF/3B Crede/Rowand - 3B/LF Olivo - C With Alomar, preferably Rowand, Perez, Gload, and a utility IF(perhaps the Sox trade a fringe prospect for Graffanino, maybe the claim one off the waiver wires, maybe they take on McLemore in the Mulder trade, etc...there are all kinds of solutions). I don't know about anyone else, but I like that team a hell of a lot more then the one we have right now.

I remember that game like it happened yesterday. I remember PK pinch hitting, wondering what in the f*** Manuel was doing, and when he hit the ball, I just kind of sat up, because he hit it pretty hard. When it went out, I f***ing ran around my house like 3 times. Then Thomas came up the next inning and hit that long-ass one foul. I remember the Twinks announcer was like "And this one is just foul to the left." Then when he did hit it, I remember hearing him say something like "And this one won't go foul" but you couldn't make it all out because the crowd was just so f***ing loud. Then Hawk's call of the shot was the call of the night. Look at what I've done, I've gotten myself all worked up. That team, the one that played the Cubs and Twins over that 12 game stretch where they won 9 of 12...that team was as close to unbeatable as a team can get. I mean, you would go into each night knowing you had as good a shot at winning as any team in the league. It's scary to think of what kind of damage that team could do in the playoffs, so that's why I try not to think of it.

Konerko I think as far as clutch goes, no one does it better then Paulie when they are sucking ass. Last year he's hitting about .180 and all he does is turn Eddie Guardado around, and this year he's hitting about .235 and all he does is go 2-3 with a homer and 5 RBI. Once again, Konerko

Those two and Bull Durham have to be the best baseball movies ever "You got no mahbles!"

GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE!

"If you can hit this pitch, you name it" (hits it way the hell out) "How about the masturbater?"

Is Billy trying to pull a Rick Vaughn here? "I WANT TEJADA"

It's a good thing I'm not superstitious, otherwise I'd think that was a jinx

I knew we didn't have a closer in the beginning of the year
