  1. We got Cotts and Daylon Holt for him. We gave up Foulke(duh; now with Boston), and also Mark Johnson(now in the Brewers organization) and Joe Valentine(who was traded to Cincinatti for Jose Guillen...the A's have neither of those two anymore). We still have Holt and Cotts, and (sadly) Koch as well. So we won in that regard.
  2. link Not good. In a related note, we need a pot-smoking smiley.
  3. Difficult to say. Williams was quite possibly the best pure hitter ever. I'm not sure anyone knew as much as Williams knew about hitting in general. But in the same regard, Bonds is the most dominant player in today's game, and he has been probably the biggest offensive force in baseball for several years now. If I had to say one, I'd say Bonds.
  4. Aaaggghh!!! I was for the trade too. Shows what I know
  5. This tells me we don't play worth a damn on the road. This team lives or dies with the offense. The pitching will not win the games for us. It also tells me that we could see the same problems we saw last year with this bunch. Last year the Sox were about 4th or 5th in the majors for homers, yet were about 12th in the AL in runs scored. Not a good statistic.
  6. A year and a month and I still don't think we've seen him get through an inning 1-2-3
  7. Would you guys like to know how to make $50 easily? Just buy my book. It's only $49.99.
  8. You make the value trade here. Trade whoever you can get the better value out of.
  9. 8 walks in 13.3 innings is way to f***ing much. That's about 5.5 BB/9. That's an insane amount. Opponents aren't going to swing the bat when he's walking anybody and everybody who holds a bat in the batter's box. I don't give a s*** about his BAA. What is his OBPA? I would bet it is damn near .350-.400. Hell, what's his WHIP? That will be telling enough. A good reliever has a WHIP of 1.10-1.20, a great reliever has a WHIP of between 1.00 and 1.10, and an excellent reliever has a WHIP of below 1.00(Eric Gagne/Keith Foulke types). On the flip side, a mediocre reliever is usually around 1.20-1.35, a bad reliever usually around 1.35-1.50, and f***ing awful reliever have WHIPs of higher then 1.50. My guess is that Billy's WHIP is right around 1.45-1.50. His ERA is 5.40 for a reason, and it's not because opponents aren't hitting him. I guarantee you that if he was throwing them balls they could hit, they'd hit them.
  10. Sometime in June. Someone will get hurt or someone will be traded, and he will be called up.
  11. Yeah, I would do that too. But then I put Uribe at 2B. We don't need a 2Bman...or a SS. BTW, if I could do one thing, I'd get an ace.
  12. No you don't, unless you were seeing a highlight reel of him for a full year. He's mediocre in the field. Get over it.
  13. :headshake If Willie starts to slip offensively, you bench him and use him around the IF and then callup Reed. You see if Willie can maintain this success.
  14. The worst memory for me has been to see the Twins pour champagne all over themselves the past 2 years. f***ing bastards :fyou
  15. This is a damn interesting argument.
  16. Benching Valentin would be stupid. And Crede IS overrated defensively. Over a good stretch of games(50 or so), he has never shown above average defense. His range factors have been below average defensively for quite some time. If you want to see GG defense, watch Corey Koskie or Eric Chavez play the hot corner. They'll give you GG defense. How about to settle everything, we do something with Rowand(bench him, send him to AAA, trade him), put Willie in CF, Uribe at 2B, Valentin at SS, Crede at 3B. Is that OK with everyone or is someone going to b**** about that too?
  17. If Griffey's contract wasn't like it was, do you think Cincinatti would want to get rid of him? Personally, I want an ace, a LH power hitter(not Everett-like numbers, I'm talking Delgado, Helton, Thome numbers), a closer, and then more pitching, in that order. It involves getting rid of Lee, possibly Konerko, and prospects.
  18. [smartass] How do we swept by Toronto? I suppose it would involve us losing every game in the series against them [/smartass]
  19. If I knew that Konerko would have a .300 30 110 season for the rest of the year, I would still probably trade him for Perez right now. BTW...how the f*** does a player do that? Be hot for one month in his career, cold as hell one month, and be solid in the rest? I just don't get it.
  20. Those two teams also have incredibly good starting pitching. Beckett-Penny-Willis with Pavano as the #4? Hell, Pavano would be a f***ing 2 or 3 in our mediocre staff(what's even sadder is that we have the best rotation in our division). The Cubs don't have Prior, and they STILL have a top 5 staff in the majors. We do not have that luxury. The LH s*** would be used in the playoffs. Have the opposing manager bring in a LHP to face the lefty, and then he is faced with either bringing in another RHP to pitch to the righty coming up, or hope that, if he keeps the LHP in there, that he doesn't throw a meat pitch, and that if he does, the righty doesn't hit it 500 feet. Not a huge advantage, but it is an advantage nonetheless.
  21. For a senior prank, jack up the principal's car, put blocks right under the axles on his car(if it's front-wheel drive, put the blocks there, if rear-wheel, put them there, if 4 wheel, put them under all of them), but only so there is like a quarter-inch of space between the tires and the ground, so that when he starts and pushes the gas, it doesn't move, and he just sits there until he moves the blocks.
  22. That could be a Bill Mazeroski-like wait for Vizquel. He never has been extremely good with the bat(though he has obviously been solid), so he'll get in pretty much solely for his glove, however, I do not think his defense warrants an induction within the first 10 years of eligibility(like Ozzie Smith). He could be - at the very least, it will be close.
