So? They have NO shot with that pitching staff. They are going to have to catch lightning in a bottle about 3 or 4 times much like they did last year, and I don't see that happening again.
-
So Brantley's a dumbass. Get over it.
-
Thank you. Bonds is a gym rat, and I know for a fact that you can increase your strength very, very quickly if you just flat out work your ass off. It has not been proven that he has done it, and in lesser cases like this, you are innocent until proven guilty.

Carlos "By land, by sea" Baerga. You know what, they're all stupid. I don't remember them for a reason.
-
Ah, so that's why your name is green.

Name your Top 3 baseball players ever

BTW, for best SP ever, you have to consider Ed Walsh. His career ERA of like 1.88 is sick. -
What a huge dumbass. He probably got hit in the head with a board when he was a kid.

Marv Albert wished he was the one raped by Kobe...

Just curious... Where is the love for KG? -
I just couldn't remember which it was exactly. I did not see much baseball in 2001, and I didn't follow the Sox as much as I do now.
-
Let's pretend we swept them and then went on to win the World Series.
-
At that point, my thing is this... Where's the LH power? That's the main reason I want to keep Jose, honest to God. I love watching him play, but if he weren't the only LH power hitter in the lineup, I can quite honestly say I probably would not be having this argument with you.
-
Jose was bad in CF and it killed his hamstrings IIRC. He lost a good chunk of the 2001 season(about 20 games, but 38 of the 162...we all know he doesn't play in all 162 due to his inability to hit RHP) due to his hamstring injury, and that's one of the main reasons he no longer steals bases as well. He stole 19 in 2000, and had double digit steals in every previous year except 1999(which too was cut way short due to injury, as in he missed damn near half the season).
-
So why move Jose when you can move Carlos, who actually has upside and, more importantly, value to other teams? Konerko has little value...he has pretty much peaked out and doesn't exactly show glimpses promise of being a potential superstar. Carlos can show that, and he occasionally shows some very good capabilities with the bat. Not to mention that Carlos actually has range defensively and isn't a clog on the basepaths.

Well he sure as hell doesn't suck. Not like how Royce Clayton sucked a few years ago making $4.5 mill. BTW, that .247 also includes the years he hit .220 consecutively in a Brewers uniform and the year he hit .219 for the Brewers as well. As a member of the White Sox, he has hit .255, and has averaged 26 or 27 homers a year(before he came to the Sox, he'd hit 20+ homers ONCE), and a career OPS of roughly .810(not that this is his career, but consider that Ivan Rodriguez had an OPS of .840 last year in a "good" year while making $10 mill). I personally feel Jose's underrated. I just don't think anyone realizes what Jose actually does for this team.
-
Maybe I went a little far in saying he's a damn near steal for $5 mill. I got caught up in my emotions when Jose hit one out. But in no way am I suggesting that we resign him for $5 mill. You can check into the insane asylum if you are going to do that. If we can get him for $3 mill a year or less, we should do it ASAP. I'm thinking Uribe can play 2B fine and dandy, Willie can play CF fine and dandy, and Jose can play SS fine and dandy. Rowand is proving he is destined to be a 4th OFer on a good team(or a starter on a weak team), Lee is proving to be a burden at $7.5 mill a year(about $6 mill this year, and $9 mill next year...$9 mill for .300 30 110 15 .830 IF YOU'RE LUCKY, and possibly .270 25 90 10 .790? Thanks, but no thanks, and you-be-gone). Put Reed in LF, Harris in CF, Uribe at 2B, Jose at SS...what's wrong with that? It looks a hell of a lot better (to me atleast) then Uribe/Valentin at SS, Uribe/Harris at 2B, Rowand in CF, Lee in LF, and this is not mentioning that it saves a boatload of money(Lee, Uribe, Harris, and probably Reed will make $10 mill, while next year(assuming we traded Lee and resigned Jose for $3 mill a year) Jose, Willie, Juan, and Reed would cost roughly $4 mill). Now I assume you understand why I want to resign Jose. Then again, maybe that's a poor assumption
-
Technically, we gave up Orlando Hernadez too, but we only gave him up after trading Osuna and Lantigua for him. Some count him, some don't. I don't, personally, but some may. Otherwise, I'm pretty sure you nailed all we gave up.
-
Nothing more to say then what has already been said. Hope all is OK though
-
Technically, I don't believe that would keep his streak alive. The "iron-man" streak is consecutive games started IIRC.

Kerry Wood left the Cub-LA game after 3 innings:
witesoxfan replied to CSF's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
If he's done, the Cubs are done. Right now, so goes Kerry Wood, so go the Cubs -
It's so hard though. I can't help it.
-
C.Rector, as I said before, get the f*** off the soap box.
-
Gload or Ventura? That's your choice right there. Personally, I take Ventura. And if we see that move, I could see how it would clear space for Jeremy Reed to come up. With Gload right now, we have 5 OFers on the roster(including Gload)...Perez, Rowand, Gload, Lee, and Maggs. Take out Gload, add Ventura, and you have a good LH power hitter, a solid backup to a few positions, and you have room to call up Reed(obviously a send down would be necessary). Put him in CF or trade Lee and put Reed in CF and figure out CF later(maybe have Jose-SS, Uribe-2B, Harris-CF, Reed-LF, something like that). I'd do it. But if Barry-Berry happens, ugh...
-
So let's bash Konerko/Harris/Crede/Lee/Rowand/Garland/Koch/Politte/...You get the picture. I don't know why Jose is bashed. 36 errors in 2000 maybe? .240 last year? I like his 25 homers, solid defense, good baseball instinct(and baserunning), and the leadership he provides.
-
Jerome Williams was most likely one of them. Who cares though, I mean really. We don't get coverage, and it's us against the world, and we come out swinging. Next thing you know, we have 15 runs. Let them not care about us.
-
Nothing to hop on. I'm just saying that Jose doesn't suck; rather that he is doesn't get the credit he deserves for everything he does.
