QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 12:28 PM) Yeah, I forgot about Roy Boy. I was putting Titus into the mold with Mike Williams & Charles Rogers. Atleast they didn't spend a top 10 pick on him like they did those two. Still, they've been absolutely wonderful about picking up high character guys, haven't they?

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 12:15 PM) Obviously Calvin Johnson is a top WR, but other than that the Lions have done a pretty awful job of using higher draft picks on WRs. At least the Bears s***ty WRs were all lower picks and they weren't f***ing crazy. Roy Williams was pretty damn good. Had a couple really good seasons with them, then got them a 1st, 3rd, and 6th round draft pick (which was turned into Gosder Cherilus, Derrick Williams, and Aaron Brown, so yes, you're right)

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 11:59 AM) Kobe would play through it. Paul Konerko would too and it would end up costing the team, so there.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 11:29 AM) Why do we do things that we know will have terrible consequences? There are about a zillion different reasons for self masochism. I would say addictions, boredom, and fear are probably your biggest 3 reasons. Unless of course this was asked tongue in cheek.

I actually really like that list. I think he's just saying Rienzo could fly through an order now - that's a common theme among young pitchers, and then they learn how to pitch to hitters multiple times and improve. He could be a really good reliever this year. As I've mentioned beore, I really like DeMichelle. I don't view him as centerpiece or building block, but his game seems like an .800 OPS that can be played around the field (at his peak).

QUOTE (Jillian Michaels' Abs @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 11:37 AM) I joking said to a friend of mine who is a Brewers fan - that with the latest news to come out - Braun should give his 2011 MVP award to Matt Kemp. This resulted in an epic debate about Braun's percieved guilt - and it got me thinking (and looking up stats)... Braun 2011: .332 / .397 / .597 / .994, 38 2B, 33 HR, 111 RBI, 33 SB ( fangraphs WAR 7.6 | BBref WAR 7.7 ) Kemp 2011: .324 / .399 / .586 / .986, 33 2B, 39 HR, 126 RBI, 40 SB ( fangraphs WAR 8.8 | BBref WAR 8.3 ) Braun's team won 96 games and won their division. Remove Braun's WAR form the team record and they win 89 games and still likely make the playoffs. Kemp's team won 82 games and finished third. Remove Matt Kemp's WAR from the team record and the Dodgers finish 74-88, well below 500. Braun hits in a offense-friendly park 82 times a year. Kemp hits in a pitcher-friendly park 82 times a year. Braun had a 5.2 oWAR guy hitting behind him all season. Kemp had a 1.6 oWAR guy hitting behind him all season. Matt Kemp was CLEARLY more deserving - juice or no juice. Being a knee-jerk reactionary baseball fan... and as a Dodgers fan, I feel the same way about the 2000 MVP voting with Frank Thomas getting the shaft. Just wanted to fix the mistakes for you

Yep, best to come clean and start over. I've talked about it felt like I cheated once upon a time and dated the same girl again, and it happens in other relationships too. It's not a move that comes highly recommended for trust in each other. There's about a 75% chance that you really shot yourself in the foot, a 24% chance that you can still, at the very least, date this Santeria chick for about a year before you get tired of her, and a 1% chance you can get back with your original girl. You still need to come clean nonetheless because living with that amount of guilt will bring unnecessary tension and terrible vibes to the relationship.

There is literally nothing I like doing more than legs. I honestly don't even like the workouts themselves...so.much.burning...but there is no time I feel better after working out. That, and being able to lift more than your body weight is awesome and makes me feel like a man. HEY LOOK I CAN LEG PRESS 400 POUNDS I AM THE MANLIEST MAN OF THEM ALL (and then my buddy put up 8 reps at 718 pounds and I felt silly again).
-
Honestly, how do you feel? Do you still have those feelings for the other girl or do you feel like you messed up? If it's the former, then you need to end the other relationship f***ing yesterday. If it's the latter, then I'm not sure what to tell you.

QUOTE (Lamar Johnson 23 @ Feb 5, 2013 -> 10:44 AM) I beg to differ. There are people here (primarily admins) who instigate/antagonize posters and then threaten to ban them when they respond. No, this is simply not the case at all. We have no problem having our beliefs challenged, but generally we are good enough at discussing these types of issues behind closed doors and responding to posters who have been reported that, 99% of the time, we resolve the situation without further complaint. If there are complaints afterwards, they will be addressed with the person who is punished as well as any other questions regarding the situation, though it's, again, generally handled in private. We have problems not with people who disrespect the administrative staff - that's going to happen at any place. The problem lies in the fact that, when said staff is disrespected, the poster has usually done something leading up to that point to have broken rules previously. At that point, when the administrative staff has been called out, they typically keep a closer eye on said subject. The administrative staff is not entirely 100% absolved from guilt and punishment, as there have been administrators and moderators on here who have been suspended. The owner of the site suspended himself at one point. When it is necessary to deal with posters, they are dealt with.

Oh, and honestly, the guy I am most excited about listed in the article is Zach Stewart.

QUOTE (balfanman @ Feb 5, 2013 -> 07:09 AM) I do not know anything about anyone of these guys. Does anyone have an opinion on which of these guys have the best shot at realizing their potential? Likely Reckling. Moskos went from pure power to essentially a junk pitcher, and those types just don't have a lot of success. Brackman has a ton of potential but also has a bit of Andy Sisco syndrome. Reckling's problems seem largely correctable and he could turn into a back of the rotation starter in time. The odds really of any of them doing much is still incredibly small.

I was poking fun, but I honestly didn't think he ever had a bias towards the White Sox. I think he has a bias towards toolsy players, and, being completely honest with ourselves, the White Sox haven't really had many toolsy players over the past 5-10 years. Perhaps he had a bias because of that, the Sox genuinely have not had a good system over that time frame. They've produced some major leaguers, but it's been primarily middle of the rotation starters and relievers, both of which are valuable, but neither of which you can really build a team with. The biggest one that gets used is Chris Sale, but Law always clarified that he liked Sale's stuff, but was very afraid of durability concerns as a starting pitcher and projected him as a reliever.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 4, 2013 -> 12:20 PM) 28. Chicago White Sox The system is improving, helped by a draft where the team opened up and looked more at prep players up top, and progress from a couple of arms already in the system, including two less-heralded pitchers from the 2011 draft (Erik Johnson and Scott Snodgress). Law does not hate the White Sox

The real winner today, was ME. I literally ate so much terrible food. And then ate too much awesome food. I took the hummus recipe in the healthy food thread, substituted roasted red peppers for the jalapenos, went less on the cayenne, and then destroyed it with some celery and carrots. I made so much of it that I OMFG ITS SO GOOD

QUOTE (southside_hitman @ Feb 3, 2013 -> 02:15 AM) At the end of the day, I would sign Kyle Lohse and not rely on either one of these pitchers, or for that matter, on Danks comeback being a sure thing. Too too many question marks. The reason Kyle Lohse is unsigned is because he's not worth it. You sign him for one year, you lose your first round pick and then you get NOTHING. You sign him for 2 years, you get the same thing, other than an aging sinkerball pitcher at age 35. It's a cycle that continues. The White Sox have plenty of starting pitching depth. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Feb 3, 2013 -> 09:47 AM) I'd do this too. Losing a first round pick in a very bad draft isn't enough to dissuade me, besides that could be offset somewhat by what they could get in return for trading Floyd. No. The only guy who MIGHT be worth losing a pick is Bourn. And that's still a no.

QUOTE (Lamar Johnson 23 @ Feb 1, 2013 -> 02:32 PM) Mr. Hahn... Nothing as a moderator prevents me from saying this... You contribute absolutely nothing to this site. You started a thread about adding Alex Rodriguez to the White Sox at some point in time in the next 2 years, and then admitted wanting nothing to do with it WHEN YOU STARTED THE THREAD IN THE FIRST PLACE. When called on it, you said NOTHING Yet, whenever anybody says anything pessimistic or, really, anything that goes against the mold, you are right there there with your {redacted} interjections. I was only recently "promoted" to moderator status, but that does not dissuade me disliking someone. I dislike you. In fact, I hate when you post. Anything you post brings the mood of the board down. That's all

As an added bonus, I will or will not sing "Hero" by Enrique Iglesias with your name involved and post it on YouTube. If you choose not by Enrique, than I will be forced to do Mariah Carey's, so choose wisely.

I'm missing a Facebook dropback photo...the one behind the profile photo. Could someone, by chance, do me an awesome and create a panoramic photo of the greatest Sox hitters of each generation, in their orginal Unis? Sort of a lot to ask, but it will get mad props here, on Facebook (when several others steal/use it) and elsewhere on the interwebs when it's inevitably posted on Flapship. If you get bored afterwards, you can do the same thing with pitchers too. Just don't use Jamie Navarro. Or James Baldwin. Oh, also when everyone else wants you to do it too. Anyone other than the Sox costs $5,000, amirite?

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Feb 1, 2013 -> 07:43 PM) Right, Texas might not want to wait on Olt given the fact that they've been close to a title the last 3 years and not gotten there. They need help now. Forget about Olt, which prospect do you think they'd be willing to give up for Rios? Honestly, I think the Rangers would just go with solutions from within. They were barely willing to trade Olt for Justin Upton, I'm not sure why they'd trade him for Alex Rios. It would be quite awesome if they did.
