QUOTE (Jake @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 08:53 PM) I saw the ingredients for "Pink Cream" -- among a bunch of BS, Test E! lol I wonder if someone dumb enough to put amino acids in a topical would actually know how to topically deliver Test E. I've never known anyone to take that in a topical. Who knows, this whole thing is pretty weird. The dad thing is also weird. If there was a cream that had included weed and cocaine and it said "rub this on your balls to get high" even though it was never going to get you high, what do you think that person's intentions were? Don't be naive.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 06:45 PM) At $200, I'm not sure how well it will sell. I mean, honestly, would an average user rather have this phone over an iPhone or Galaxy S3? I seriously doubt it. RIM should have sold the phone at a lesser price to boost early adoption. Even a $50 advantage over the iPhone would have put them in a much better place IMO. Eeeh, yeah, that's too much. Or give a $50 credit towards the App store or something. Maybe they can alter their philosophy in trying to get back to the corporate world and they'll offer discounts when selling multiple phones.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 06:17 PM) Depending on his cost, he probably would be their best plan. Is he "Chicago Tough" though? There's no way his cost is ever going to be justifiable for both the White Sox and Alex Rodriguez. I would bet anything on it. As Dick Allen points out, if they can void his contract, there are serious infractions and a lot of dirt is about to come out. He's still going to be out until the end of the year. And ARod has probably made around $400 million with endorsements and his contract through his career...I doubt he's going to take an extreme longshot of hitting 114 homers in 4 and a half seasons to try and break a record when his reputation is already tarnished and play for what essentially amounts to nothing for him (because $5 million is even chump change to him anymore). On top of that, the White Sox would have to assume a risk too as well as outbid other teams for his service too. I'd bet, due to his cost and baggage, he would be one of the worst plans. My opinion of course.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 04:58 PM) The only reason why a guy would go to these sketchy clinics is pretty obvious. I know, right. Obviously, it's for cheap healthcare.

QUOTE (Lamar Johnson 23 @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 04:06 PM) Torii put up decent numbers in 2012. Yes he did. However, there are a lot of red flags regarding his season #1) A career high .313 average (never hit .300 prior). #2) Walked much less often (fewer than 40 times for first time since 2005) #3) Set a career high in strikeouts (133) #4) Large decline in power (fewest HR/PA since 2000) #5) Age (going to be 37 next year) So the only thing he got better in was hitting for average...somehow, I doubt that he improved himself as a hitter at the age of 36 while also striking out more. It is entirely possible that Torii Hunter hits around .250-.260 with no power and no walks. Likelier is that he regresses to about a .750 OPS, but I wouldn't expect anything more than that.

QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 03:48 PM) I'm surprised they didn't address the closer issue. Maybe there was nothing out there via trade to do it. I know they have some nice young arms, Roncon and Albuqueerque, but I think it could jump up and bite them in the ass again this season. I look for them to target a closer by the break. I think Hunter's production will be a non-factor given his age and I don't think VMart is going to the guy we saw in 2011. It's that Garcia who scares me. Last year in the minors, Avisail Garcia had a K:BB of 5.28 last year (95 K, 18 BB), had 39 XBHs, went 23 of 31 in stolen bases (less than 75%), and he did that in 513 PAs. He's probably going to be worse than Delmon Young.

QUOTE (Lamar Johnson 23 @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 03:36 PM) Absolutely. I'm pretty sure that he's not playing at all in 2013. What I'm getting at is, if we give Keppinger a full season to see if he can be a useful every day player, and we give Gordo one more season to see if he still sucks, and it turns out that we need to "replace" one or both of them.... So you want to sign a guy who would have been away from the game for a year who would turn 38 halfway through the year? He might not be putting up a .750 OPS at that point, and he'd likely get hurt again anyways. In no way, shape, or form is ARod worth the headache ever.

You have to imagine part of the reason people are afraid to get into the BB10 app market is fear of failure, just as it is with the Windows phone. Why waste money developing an app for an OS when there may be little point to it in the first place? If it tests and sells pretty well, the apps will come.

I'd rather call Joe Crede. There's no need to bring Distraction Planet into the picture.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 01:30 PM) So Peavy's performance vs DET is excused because Detroit's offense is just too good? Excuse me if I expect more from the team's #1 starter. He got a little unlucky (his peripherals were very good against the Tigers), but you're right, it doesn't excuse his poor performance. Perhaps it's a matter of advanced scouting and gameplan though, considering how poorly they pitched as a unit against the Tigers. As was pointed out, there were several pitchers who were absolutely terrible against the Tigers last year.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 01:04 PM) It wasn't fatigue that made him pitch so badly against Detroit all season. White Sox pitching vs Tigers: 4.90 ERA, 1.52 WHIP, .284/.366/.472/.839 splits Notables: Ohman, Danks, Humber, Omogrosso, and Liriano all sucked. Floyd, Reed, Santiago, Quintana, and Jones were all very effective Chris Sale - 3 GS, 6.00 ERA, 1.56 WHIP, 4 HR, 10 BB, 18 K, 18 IP Jake Peavy - 6 GS, 5.63 ERA, 1.33 WHIP, 8 HR, 10 BB, 38 K, 38.1 IP

QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Jan 30, 2013 -> 11:30 AM) This is coming from Jake Peavy. So I'll discount it COMPLETELY. Shut up and pitch. And when I say pitch, I mean "pitch like you dont suck". 16th best pitcher in baseball last year. 219 innings, 3.37 ERA --- Pretty sure he, uhhhh, pitched like he didn't suck.

Ready to suit up for either team if/when they need some manliness/Wranglers on the sidelines

The Curve was awesome, so SUCK IT! I don't think I'll ultimately end up getting the '10 but I'm hoping it sells because it does offer a lot of cool things and interesting ideas. Part of the reason Blackberries are so awesome is BBM, and getting the '10 now would be like getting a 1-way walkie talkie.
-
And now it's Blackberry who makes the Blackberry 10, not Research in Motion

Blackberry 10 launched today. I'm due for a new phone and absolutely loved my Curve, so I want to do my due diligence and check this phone out. It looks really good and I've heard nothing but good things about it, so I'm extremely interested.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 29, 2013 -> 03:13 PM) Do you think that this could get Melky Cabrera additional time suspended? They have a set date for his positive test. If they do research and find that he purchased stuff after his positive test, they should suspend him again. Same for Mota and Colon and Grandal and whoever else too.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Jan 29, 2013 -> 03:09 PM) Arent these 2 different arguments. 1) This substance is banned by the NFL, therefore its illegal regardless of the results. 2) This substance while banned does nothing and therefore we shouldnt care. It always seems that argument 2 is irrelevant. Otherwise sports would have to actually prove that the alleged substance helped the competitor. This is the point. Neither marijuana nor cocaine are going to help you play football better over the course of your career (for a game, I don't know, maybe?), yet they are illegal substances. If you are found to have them in your system, you should be suspended because the NFL cares about the health of its players. They might believe that drinking ram's piss makes you a better player (it sure as hell makes you a better drinker), and if they find it in your system, you should be suspended. It doesn't mean it does, and if there is a reputable study done proving otherwise, they can reconsider. In the meantime, they believe that this IGF-1 is a performance-enhancing drug, and if it is illegal and Ray Lewis tests positive for it (he didn't because the NFL doesn't test for it), then he should be suspended immediately. Of course, he'd just appeal and then retire, so there's really no point to it whatsoever.

Ventura stressing more contact and less K's
witesoxfan replied to chisoxfan09's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I think the Sox have the best pitching staff and defense in the division, and by quite a bit too. That alone is going to keep them in a lot of games. If they score at the clip they did last year, they're going to be in the race until the end.
