  1. That's a nice comparison. I like Thompson.
  2. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 03:07 PM) Damn, Ozzie missed out by a year on Juan Pierre v 2.0. And Juan Pierre v 1.0
  3. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 02:06 PM) I feel like with the renovations the Cell is actually pretty awesome - that being said it doesn't have a single trademark that you'd love to see, unless Fundamentals counts! They have the White Sox. I think some people would love to see them. EDIt: Can't even spell the word "they" properly, which sucks
  4. 2004. The biggest move the Sox made was trading Aaron Miles for Juan Uribe.
  5. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 11:39 AM) I don't think they will go broke with the extension, and am sure they know its an over pay, but he is the face of a franchise that has really struggled lately. It's probably worth the extra money to keep him around rather than letting him walk or trading him, if you take those things into consideration. Still, this sounds like what the Twins did with Mauer (except that they were good before). That has turned into an epic disaster. This isn't to say Mauer is ineffective (quite the opposite) or that the Twins won't be good (because they can get back there), but not having that contract on the books would make it a hell of a lot easier.
  6. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 10:59 AM) A lot of players add the leg kick for timing. I dont think Viciedo is lacking in the power department I think I would prefer if he could hit the ball 480 feet instead of 450.
  7. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 11:19 AM) Lol they were talking about strap on and s***. I didn't even see how it got to that area. We practiced Santeria
  8. QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 7, 2013 -> 02:02 PM) People into santeria do animal sacrifice and what not...I don't think it was a few harmless icons... So f***ing buy a goat, invite her over for Valentine's Day, and introduce her to your girlfriend. Present a double sided dildo and a bottle of Jagermeister. See where it goes. Honestly, what's the worst that could happen?
  9. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 7, 2013 -> 09:44 PM) Nate Wolters dropped 53 tonight. Hopefully he gets another shot in the tourney though ND State is just better and Western plays like the slowest tempo ever which would be interesting in a tournament setting. f*** SDSU
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 7, 2013 -> 09:08 PM) When did Weekly World News start predicting baseball? Not sure if you knew this, but Alexei Ramirez gained like 50 pounds and now looks terrible in a 2 piece.
  11. They are also moving the fences in at the stadium to help offense. I think you can throw park factors out for now.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 8, 2013 -> 07:53 AM) One of my favorite lines in Moneyball, paraphrased, talks about how a kid might grow into power, after all, Giambi did it. Except that this is a foundationally true theory of scouting within baseball. Doubles --> Homers. -Between the ages of 20 and 21, Jim Thome hit 10 homers in 698 plate appearances. He hit 25 in 497 as a 22 year old in AAA. -In 804 minor league plate appearances, including his rehab stint in 2005, Frank Thomas hit 24 homers. Increased power != steroids Stick figure to hulking monstrosity ~= steroids
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Feb 7, 2013 -> 04:29 PM) Hopefully his horrible pizza dies with him. I found a thread full of fail, and then I found this. Disappointed, if nothing else. I do not care if buying Little Caesar's pays for Detroit's roster. That is the best $5 pizza money can buy, and it is delicious. Oh, and Justin Verlander? Yankees? No.
  14. As it was in '91, as it was in (18)'91, as it was in '13...you hang a curve, you gonna get burned (looked more like a slider, but we'll let it go)
  15. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 11:31 PM) I am on probation with my girlfriend for whoever cared to know what happened. Keeping my mouth shut would have certainly been the path of least resistance but I'm glad I came clean. I actually read witesoxfan's post about the benefits to nipping it at the bud. For those who have never seen a 1% chance hit, well here it is. Thanks for the advice all. Good night! Just be weary of this situation. If she needs time, give her that, but you need to make sure she isn't constantly holding this over your head or using it as leverage, otherwise it will ruin your relationship. This is about the best possible outcome for you right now, given the f*** up. It will still take a lot of time before your relationship is ever back to where it was. Mine didn't start getting "normal" again for about a month, and even then there were weird parts of it (but I was constantly getting in my own way). This is not an easy situation to recover from, but it is certainly possible.
  16. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 09:59 PM) *ahem* Enough out of you.
  17. Personally, I think Sanchez is a better choice. He runs and can field. Not a lot of bat. That's really all you ask for. Beyond that, you'd hope he'll never be a starter for you. Beyond that, as a Rule V player, he either has to stay with the MLB team or be sent back. Saladino, on the other hand, still has the opportunity to develop into a starting caliber player, even if it's a long shot. With as many options as he has left, there's literally no reason to bring him up and have him sit on the bench.
  18. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 03:51 PM) Make sure you queue up some lovely song at the end of this tale of complete fiction. Life isn't "The Notebook", or some other sappy tale of love meant to be. I'd rather not know if this happened to me, for the sake of keeping my family intact...because once that sacred trust is broken, sorry or not, it will never be the same again. The only way I'd want to know is if it was going on over and over again. I wouldn't want her to tell me in hopes we can "fix" that breach of trust...because it couldn't be fixed...ever. So telling me, or others, accomplishes nothing. The only thing it is, IMO, is a weak attempt to 'absolve' your sins, to make yourself feel better about it. It does nothing for anyone else. OK, that's fine...I'm just saying from personal experience, it did work for me. It wasn't the exact same scenario, but I was dating the girl for another 8 months and, had I had my s*** together a bit better, it would have gone on a lot longer than that. If you would prefer not to know, that's your own thing, We'll just agree to disagree. But calling those who asked for him to come clean "tards" is probably not appropriate either.
  19. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 03:31 PM) No, unless she was doing it over and over, didn't care, and wasn't sorry about her mistake. If she was legitimately sorry, and learned from it, I'd have to say there are things better left unlearned. Learning of this infidelity would accomplish nothing. It wouldn't make me feel better, and it wouldn't prevent her from doing/not doing it again. It would fix nothing, and hurt everyone. And yet, if you come out, admit right away that you did it, admit that it was a mistake and you don't know why you did what you did, there is still some room for growth and a chance that the relationship can withstand it, especially if there is enough deep, emotional caring between the two and there was just a falling out of some sort. If he holds it in and tells her after 5 or 10 years, how is she going to trust that he hasn't been keeping anything else from her during all that time? At that point, it gets easier for him to lie and withhold information from her that is relevant to her, and that will drive a stake into their relationship anyways. Telling her hurts NOTHING except the spirit short-term. If they were meant to be together (as cheesy as this sounds), then they will fight through it and they will end up back together. If not, then this proves to be a great learning experience for him. Telling them both was the best thing to do for all involved, even if it's incredibly painful.
  20. QUOTE (Cali @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 01:56 PM) Until the Royals can prove they can beat ANYONE ELSE, they aren't gonna finish ahead of the White Sox. Ever. Flavor of the month. This reminds me of when a pretty respected writer wrote that the Indians should have sold their farm system last year even though they'd gotten ridiculously lucky (like their being 10 games over nevermind a run differential of like -20). The Royals have a little more talent then that, but, IMO, the Royals have a bigger bust percentage than the White Sox do, and I think the Sox have a higher ceiling as well as expectation too. It's going to be funny when the Royals finish 3rd or 4th this year.
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 01:00 PM) No you're not. He's talking about Young I believe Yes, aka the best receiver in the league
