QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 15, 2013 -> 04:42 PM) lol. They look ridiculous together. She can't be anymore than 25. But she is a major upgrade from sex symbol Juanita Jordan. I know MJ cheated on her about as often as I drink. But why? She was/is hideous. Why marry something so barbaric looking when your MJ is what I meant. Yvette is 34, and she is Cuban. She even looks good there and I don't think she is wearing makeup. In the article Steve posted she is wearing some makeup. Boners, boners, boners

Oh, and his fiance is smoking hot. I wouldn't expect differently, but just wanted to say it.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Feb 15, 2013 -> 04:02 PM) Stop it. I still can't get Michael the Wizard out of my head. 10 years, 585935 cigars, and what looks to be a good 60 pounds later in today's game? No thanks. He's down to 248! That's only 30 overweight. Plus he'd get himself in better shape too. He just can't deal with the aches and pains. That's what killed him with Washington...getting his knee drained every other week. Over f***ing Rip Hamilton, are you kidding me?

QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 6, 2013 -> 10:21 AM) There is literally nothing I like doing more than legs. I honestly don't even like the workouts themselves...so.much.burning...but there is no time I feel better after working out. That, and being able to lift more than your body weight is awesome and makes me feel like a man. HEY LOOK I CAN LEG PRESS 400 POUNDS I AM THE MANLIEST MAN OF THEM ALL (and then my buddy put up 8 reps at 718 pounds and I felt silly again). I would just like to reiterate that I love doing legs

John Danks surgery/rehab/recovery thread
witesoxfan replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
QUOTE (Cali @ Feb 15, 2013 -> 02:51 PM) Oh well that is true. If he's not popping that fastball his change is pretty much useless and he'll get rocked as we saw last year. But after surgery it may take longer for him to get that fastball going, which is why it's smart to have him as the 5th starter. Gives him a better chance against everyone else's fifth guy, build up some W's and some confidence. Just need the Sox to score some runs for him, which has plagued him most of his career... I feel like we go over this at one point every year, but this is rarely ever the case. It only takes 1-2 off-days or 1 skipped start to throw the entire rotation off. If anything, he'd be the "5th starter" just so we can limit our own expectations for him. Personally, I think he's going to end up being the 3rd best starter the Sox have this year. -
QUOTE (2nd_city_saint787 @ Feb 15, 2013 -> 02:56 PM) Ian Rapoport @RapSheet Released DB Charles Woodson's agent Carl Poston: "He'd like to go play for a contender, win another Super Bowl. He caught that bug." Sooo GBs not a contender any more? I'm sure he'd have no problem returning to GB, it's just not going to be at $7 million

I wish he would come back and just play every other game. You know he could.

Jesus, we couldn't even get to the games -
QUOTE (Cali @ Feb 15, 2013 -> 12:17 PM) Could be horrible or great. Can't tell. Morel seems like a "third base only" kind of guy (but he's great at it) I think he'll be able to handle other positions just fine, and he atleast offers upside with the bat.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 15, 2013 -> 12:02 PM) When you got ralent, you get chances. RAT'S RIGHT, RAGGY. REE-HEEHEEHEEEHEEHEEHEE

QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Feb 15, 2013 -> 11:54 AM) That was quick if true. And if true, there is no chance in hell he will get another chance in this league without an attitude adjustment. He's an incredibly ralented player, but just an absolute moron.

QUOTE (Cali @ Feb 15, 2013 -> 11:39 AM) Hopefully eating better and losing weight will help him remember he has a pitch other than the fastball. Thornton had his worst year since 2007. It was also the most he's ever used his slider with the White Sox. The year he used his slider the 2nd most was 2007. I'm hoping eating right helped him forget he has the slider.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 15, 2013 -> 09:37 AM) You know what we need here? Fire and Passion Aaron f***ing Rowand. He can be the chewing tobacco and wall crashing specialist.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Feb 15, 2013 -> 09:17 AM) I would think a giant turtle would take forever to get from Russia to North Dakota. You should be good. I will believe you while waiting nervously outside my front door with a baseball bat.

2012-2013 MLB off season tracker thread

Your browser does not support iframes. AJ interview. I can't listen to it, being at work and all, but I already hate him...IN A GOOD WAY -
Are we absolutely positive this isn't a Cloverfield sort of scenario, and there isn't going to be a giant turtle/guinea pig/hamster sort of thing jumping out trying to eat people? I mean, it's in Russia, but s***, I live in North Dakota RUSSIA IS PRACTICALLY MY NEIGHBOR.

QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Feb 15, 2013 -> 07:50 AM) Pretty amazing video, it's crazy what gets caught on video these days. Hopefully no one was seriously injured, I had heard 400 injured but no one killed. The Mayans were only 2 months late.

Danks and Dunn make worst contracts list
witesoxfan replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Our resident physical therapist has said that there should literally be no problems with Danks. The classify Peavy's as a "shoulder" for some reason, but it was his latissimus dorsi, which is actually a very large reaching muscle generally in the upper back with but with connective points in the shoulder and lower back. -
QUOTE (southside_hitman @ Feb 14, 2013 -> 06:01 PM) Exactly. Ventura never aspired to be a Manager and he doesn't look like he really wants to be out there. Nobody is suggesting that we neede someone to rant like Ozzie, but I expected more of a baseball strategist, a guy that was always thinking, and making good decisions before and during games.. Because every rookie manager is perfect, a strategist, making great decisions 100% of the time. Please. Considering he was a rookie manager, I'd say he did just fine. There are some areas he needs to work on, but he seemed to improve throughout the year. (And please, forget about your perceptions of Frank Thomas's power, because even though it was obviously there, it hurts my argument for you to use it) September 15th. Sox were up 5-2 going to the bottom of the 9th at Target Field. Ventura went with Reed because he is the closer. Reed allowed the first 3 runners on base. Ventura yanked him (something Ozzie did NOT do with Jenks in 2010) and brought in Thornton. Thornton induced a double play and then threw another out to record the save. Hit and run is one of the stupidest plays in the MLB. It works like you want 15% of the time, gives up an out 35% of the time, generally forces the hitter to swing at a bad pitch, and a lot of times ends up with a LIDP. Yes Yes Yes (despite having what I would argue was a slower team, the White Sox went 109 for 152 in SBs in 2011 for a 71.7% conversion rate, which is likely productive in today's reduced offensive environment. The Sox went 81/134 in 2011, which means they had fewer stolen bases and more times caught stealing) Yes (Youk was perfect) Yes How about every f***ing game when he made a good lineup as opposed to hitting a .725 singles hitting catcher cleanup? He's a boring guy, so he must not care about winning or doing his job well. Or maybe he just hates dealing with the media. I do love that you say "not that it matters" and then use it to try and condemn him. It doesn't matter...why bring it up? EVEN THOUGH HE QUALIFIED THAT. Jesus, you are arguing against yourself. Oh, and yes, this game that he played for 16 years at the highest level, he has no passion for. You are ridiculous with your assertions and assumptions. You are making conjectures based on your personal feelings and you have no proof. Instead of trying to present your opinion as fact, you could have saved both of us a lot of time and simply said "I do not like Ventura as manager." Give me a f***ing break. Links? Proof? Actual quotes from the game where Mark Parent is ordering Ventura around like his little b****? If you weren't so close that you could smell their armpits, then you have no idea what you are talking about. And we've come full circle. The Sox should fire Robin Ventura, bring Ozzie back, and have Pierzynski be his bench coach. ---- I'm glad there is a competent front office staff in place.

QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 14, 2013 -> 04:49 PM) But hes no good with money because he never went to college. How can this be? Even people good with their finances go broke or declare bankruptcy.

Haha, when the Sox are 3 games below .500 in Spring, someone is going to say "You know, I know these games mean nothing, but it would be nice for them to play well so they can get hot leading into the season." Because, as mentioned, getting hot at the end of Spring Training 100% of the time leads to starting out the season really well too. Willie Mays Hayes is going to start hitting for power this year.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 14, 2013 -> 04:39 PM) I'm sure you would. Unfortunately, I've seen this situation really go poorly and the same player be destitute by 30. Again, I don't think 1 year does it. I would go for 3-4 years if no true minor league system is available. Sometimes kids need to be told what is best for them in the long run and not be short sighted because as you said earlier not every kid could afford you or one of your brethren. Bad investment or no investment and yeah, that money is gone in a flash. People don't think they could ever spend $40 million or so, but when you get bounced from the league in say 5-6 years and then have nothing to do, you start to spend money very poorly. It's not like a lot of these guys have real world skills, and they generally will not subject themselves to cooking at a fast food restaurant or anyting along those lines.

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Feb 14, 2013 -> 04:05 PM) Yeah but a lot of the provisions that were negotiated (amnesty clause, for example) was the NBA throwing up it's hands saying "our GM's are f***ing stupid, they keep throwing money and long term deals to s*** players and killing their franchises, so let's do something about it." That was my point. I think that talks about the GMs, but it also describes a broken system too in a superstar driven league. To even remain relevant you have to either have to have a great coach with a front office with a great eye for talent who aren't afraid to make bold moves - I'm looking at the Thunder and Spurs here. Or, you have to get lucky and either draft or sign a superstar (Cleveland & Miami, Orlando & LA Lakers, Chicago). Other than that, you are pretty much screwed or more screwed, and I'm not sure which one is which. You can be a semi-competitive .500 team that always makes the playoffs, always gets bounced, and never gets the talent necessary to do anything in the playoffs. Otherwise, you're just a consistently terrible team.
