  1. f*** taking one, I'll be disappointed if they don't win both series...I'm always disappointed if they don't win a series
  2. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 11:51 PM) Quentin is the only Sox worthy starter, A-Rod's getting hot again and Gavin won't be making it ahead of Lee, Marcum, Halladay, Santana, Kazmir, etc. The Sox have 3 starting pitchers in the top 8 in ERA in the AL. Of course, none are Buehrle or Vazquez, so Francona doesn't know who they are and they are meaningless at this point. Regardless, it is funny you mentioned #3 of those 3 starters...Contreras is actually a somewhat recognizable name and John Danks has the 4th best ERA in the AL and 11th best in the majors. It's too bad ERA doesn't have more meaning in these choices...
  3. QUOTE (Tony82087 @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 05:23 PM) Right, but we that player in the organization right now, and is in your sig. Given the lack of speed with this club, along with Ozzie love with speed, I don't doubt Owens would be matching the numbers Taveras is putting up right now, which isn't much of an accomplishment. There is something to be said about the comparison in defense in CF, which is monumental between the two, and I'm not even comparing the range between the two right now. Taveras might have a major league fastball while Owens might throw as hard as 14 year olds hit.
  4. QUOTE (shipps @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 08:21 AM) I have realized saying hello to a co worker in passing at my job is a HUGE commitment.Once I say hello to that person passing by Iam bound to say hello to them EVERYDAY that I see them.Because if I dont say hello one day they will think Iam an ass and wonder why Iam not saying hello anymore. So for now on Iam going to be very selective with my new hello arrangements because I just cant fit anymore god damn hello's in the day. Hello
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 02:38 PM) I really think BA is the best player in the bunch, but lets all be honest, this team needs a better top of the order, OC is not the answer. Jerry Owens isn't either, so I don't see why they wouldn't just stick with Cabrera.
  6. QUOTE (That funky motion @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 11:01 AM) The game on Sunday, I heard a lot of cheers watching it on TV. Drunk people Friday night versus sober people Sunday afternoon.
  7. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 05:02 AM) i was not speaking relative to win/loss record, but more towards the flawed design of our offense, as well as our hitters inability to adjust to soft-tossing lefties and crush anything that isn't a fastball arizona has a pretty well-rounded offense, they can score off the homerun and manufacture runs. this team seems to be shut-down rather easily, and has become more and more frequent despite facing teams that the rest of the league has no problems with. Yours is still an opinion dude, because statistically, Arizona is a worse team.
  8. Brandon Marshall can do everything but wipe his butt with his surgically repaired right arm. How neat.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 15, 2008 -> 10:57 PM) We've lost five of six now, playing s***ty baseball again. I say it's Griffey time. Can he play first base? Greg, you haven't even looked at Griffey's numbers, have you? You b**** and moan about Thome, yet Griffey hasn't even close to as good as Thome has and he's more injury prone. Soxtalk's obsession with Ken Griffey Jr really needs to die quickly...he's a legend, but he's way past his prime and he's a mediocre hitter at this point in his career.
  10. QUOTE (joesaiditstrue @ Jun 16, 2008 -> 12:08 AM) how does it make other sox fans feel to know we're the worst 1st place team in all of baseball? personally, it makes me feel like sh** and lately i'm just in a bad mood and it's reflecting while i'm at work as well, i mean i can't help that i absolutely LOVE baseball and I love the sox, i don't care how bad they're playing... i'll never change how much i love this team, but at the same time, i wear my sox emotions on my sleeves and it sucks this team is just baseball retarded when it comes to hitting a baseball, and honestly they've been this way for quite some time.. The Sox are 38-31, which is a .551 winning percentage, or an 89 win pace. The DBacks are 37-33, which is a .529 winning percentage, or an 86 win pace. The Sox aren't the worst first place team and so "knowing" it is more like "thinking" it, because statistically, the Sox are only the second worst first place team in all of baseball. Hope you sleep better at night having learned this knowledge.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 15, 2008 -> 04:26 PM) Can we seriously trade Thome for baseballs right now? I hate him. Don't mind the fact that he's actually been an above average hitter in the majors this year while on pace to hit 30 something homers while driving in and scoring 100 runs...and mind you, he's doing all of this while hitting .220. For what it's worth - and to me, it's worth a lot - Thome's hitting .278/.357/.611/.968 in June. But yeah, let's trade the dude for some baseballs. What is with people treating every game like there's no tomorrow? There's over 3 months of the season left!
  12. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 15, 2008 -> 07:12 PM) F*** Woods every time he messes up he blaming someone else and he makes a nice shot he danced around on his knee, but when he made a bad shot he would make the my knee hurts face. Call him by his name birthname Eldrick not Tiger! alright, sure
  13. QUOTE (easyw @ Jun 15, 2008 -> 09:02 AM) With Soriano out, I think the next few weeks will tell the story on Johnson - he is going to see a lot more playing time. I think that story's already been told...he's a below average overall hitter who has had 1 good season and 1 solid season in his career; he's a good platoon option because he hits lefties very well but doesn't hit righties for s***. Pretty much a 4th outfielder.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 15, 2008 -> 08:08 PM) Thank you Yeah
  15. Check her for herpes. Then see if Jeter is the b**** that he appears to be.
  16. QUOTE (Reddy @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 03:24 PM) goddamnit i hate this. sitting here in chicago while my family's at home in IC. I f***ing can't deal with it. i want to be there helping but there's no way to get there. even if i could get away from my job/shows/etc i couldn't physically drive to my house because all the roads are closed. it sucks being so powerless. You're not powerless. Worst comes to worst, donations and/or work or recovery afterwards will be absolutely necessary and they'll be looking for everyone they can. If it gets bad enough, there would have been nothing you could have done anyways.
  17. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 15, 2008 -> 02:08 AM) ^^ this I'd say Jermaine Dye is easily the most underrated player among all groups of Sox fans. I think he's still one of the top 10 offensive right fielders in the game and he's been quite good in his 3+ years as a member of the Sox. A lot of people, including myself having just looked at it now, would be surprised to see that he only had 1 month last season where he was worse than league average - his June, in which he put up an OPS+ of 50 and had splits of .203/.243/.328/.571...it should come as no surprise that he missed quite a few games in June too. Jermaine can stay.
  18. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Jun 11, 2008 -> 02:52 AM) I like it, but the timing might not be good considering they won it, then we won it , then they won it again. Just wait till November then or something, gosh
  19. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 13, 2008 -> 06:54 PM) Mustaches would be better. Alexei would look totally badass. Ahem, in fear of creating a sweet rhyme and potential nickname (although it would not really work, seeing as how Ramirez is from Cuba), I believe we now need a mexi-Alexei
  20. QUOTE (knightni @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 05:57 PM) Back to back babies. I wonder if her parents get internet residuals... Hulkamania sucks though
  21. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 15, 2008 -> 12:19 AM) It's been longer then just one quiet series, he hasn't hit at all in the month of June. This month he is batting .235 with a .245 OBP and .353 SLG. He's gotten 12 hits in 51 AB's, only 4 extra base hits, and has driven in a whole 4 runs. That's quite a big slump if you ask me, and not just one quiet series. Hell, for the month of June, Konerko has outproduced Dye. Oh for Christ's sake, a guy has 12 bad games and suddenly he's chopped liver. Get f***ing real.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 09:53 PM) Have you see Hu and Berroa for the Dodgers? With Furcal not coming back for another month, the Dodgers might be interested. They are interested...they tried Loaiza for Uribe but KW shot it down because Loaiza is pretty much terrible now a days.
  23. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Jun 14, 2008 -> 09:24 PM) I'd dump Uribe for myself. I wouldn't dump Uribe for anybody in the minors. If you get rid of Uribe and Cabrera goes down for a month, you are left with Danny Richar and Chris Getz at 2B with Alexei learning the nuances of playing SS at the major league level. Uribe's a vital part of this team right now whether people want to admit it or not. He hits like a AAA player but his power, his glove, and his versatility around the infield are what is keeping him on this team and makes him much more valuable than Pablo Ozuna. I understand that Ozuna is a good clubhouse presence and maybe loosens guys up, but if he wants to be on the bench, he should find a place on the DL because he's the one that's pretty useless to the team. He's quick and he hits lefties well, but he's not being used to the best of his ability and that's hurting the team right now.
