  1. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 09:34 PM) So, just out of curiosity, given Ichiro's stated desire to hit the Free Agent market no matter what...does anyone think Seattle might move him @ the deadline if they're convinced they're going to lose him? I think so, given the right price. And that right price could be something completely ridiculous too knowing Bavasi. Given, they'd have to be way out, and the offer would have to be right. Thus, I would imagine they would look for atleast Gio, and perhaps Gio and Broadway. The only way I'd make either is if I were given the opportunity to extend him, and if I wasn't, there'd be no way in hell it'd be worth it.
  2. Willits would be a great choice if he could put up .360/.415/.775 and steal 30-40 bases. If anything more, it would be just ridiculously good. Ichiro would be fantastic too, but I honestly think a great leadoff hitter is a pipedream right now.
  3. Kind of tackling both Sula by Toni Morrison and Veeck as in Wreck at the same time right now. Sula's for class, and I haven't gotten far enough into it to get to the point, but I know of National Suicide Day by now (!!! woo), and Veeck as in Wreck is a book I've gotten about 3/4 done before, but have never finished nor taken anything out of it. It's a little better this time around.
  4. I await the day a picture of Getz comes out with a Tigers hat on and the "Getz to the Tigers?" talk takes over Soxtalk.
  5. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 01:22 PM) From everything I've read of Phillips, he's a reliever or 6th starter in the majors. I think he'll probably make it at some point, but he's just not a great option.
  6. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 07:33 PM) So he was good against the White Sox. That also means he had a 5+ ERA against the rest of the league that year. I don't know about you, but I'd rather not see that Vazquez. If I could see the Vazquez against the White Sox around 2004 against everyone in the league, I'll take it. That's really all the poster was trying to say was that he looked that good, and he wants him to remain looking that good. It's obvious he didn't look that good in Yankee pinstripes in the second half.
  7. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 06:40 PM) And he never did that, because he was only capable of doing that in the minors or college. I understand what you're saying, but Seattle traded for him with the thought that he would. So, when he was traded, he DID have that potential as far as Seattle was concerned. Really, that's all that matters.
  8. QUOTE(Brian @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 06:53 PM) Grand Slam! We never should of let him go! OMG!1!! He's better than Thome cuz Thome only hits 3 run homers.
  9. QUOTE(Dam8610 @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 06:38 PM) More like what he did with Montreal in 2001 or 2003. He was a disaster as a Yankee. He didn't pitch against the White Sox as an Expo. His numbers against the Sox as a Yankee - 16 IP, 8 H, 2 ER, 1 HR, 4 BB, 11 K - which is good for a 1.13 ERA, 0.75 WHIP, and a near 3:1 K/BB
  10. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 06:39 PM) I don't know what kind of top pitcher is projected to have a 4.50 ERA. Lackey
  11. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 04:11 PM) So A-Rod had a walk-off grand slam today. What? Where did you hear that at?
  12. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 01:15 PM) The problem is that Jeremy Reed never had the ability to hit 15 homers or steal 25 bases. Uhhhh...? Those are almost the EXACT numbers people used when transferring Reed's numbers to the majors.
  13. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 05:48 PM) Just an outstanding win. There have been some of us hyping up Vaz all off-season, and it was great to see him take the mound and back it up. Wite would be proud. I know I am. Lets squeak out a win tomorrow. I will be there cheering them on. you bet your ass I am I want to see it for an extended period of time, but that is exactly what that man is capable of.
  14. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 12:09 AM) Apparently his speed should have just been infinity+1. wait what if they did it would be like "Hester with the return," you move the joystick up for a half a second and "TOUCHDOWN" every time he did that. wow, imagine the possibilities.
  15. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 02:02 AM) Quiet foo or I cut cxhu. adublan oblangata/ that was probably uncalled for
  16. I'm waiting for one person to see this thread and mention the name Reggie Willits. He knows who he is.
  17. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 7, 2007 -> 12:42 AM) Yet again why I think BP is terrible. How is John lackey a breakout candidate. Last I looked he's the ace of the Angels and has been ever since Colon went down (and some would say he's been it even before than). I think they may be talking about staff ace to top 5-7 pitcher in the majors.
  18. 70 posts, and not one mention of the word senile Lover or hater, you must admit he is senile. His senility is partly what drives his homerism. And senile or not, he's my senile White Sox PBP guy, and I love him for it.
  19. how much is that doggggggggy in the window? (ruff ruff)
  20. That projection takes him from a bad pitcher to a mediocre or slightly above mediocre pitcher. That does seem like a small breakout to me. Beyond that, they call John Lackey a breakout candiate, and his PECOTA numbers are a regression from his numbers last year. So yeah, they're saying he's a guy who could breakout and have a great season.
  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 10:57 PM) heh, why is this such a big deal? first player evar? evAr? dude, that's evAr
  22. QUOTE(BearSox @ Apr 6, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) I think of Phillips, Haeger, Broadway, and Floyd, the only two that are probably safe to still be in the White Sox organization by the end of the season are Broadway and Floyd, IMO. I think both Phillips and Haeger will be used as trade bait. are they trading for a 6th inning reliever?
  23. this thread is great, I can literally say anything in this and not have anything done to me. MBINAA
