  1. QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 4, 2007 -> 08:29 AM) Awesome. lol
  2. roto also speculated that Ozzie is going to use more lefties against Santana. That is a great idea, even if it means Pods and Erstad. Santana is absolutely disgustingly good against righties, but doesnt get lefties out at nearly the rate.
  3. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 02:03 AM) Last time a starter lasted only that long on opening day for us was in 1917 I read somewhere. That's a good thing, sort of. meh, it's meaningless
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 06:29 PM) Give me a $106M payroll and I'll kick Bavasi's ass, I'm pretty sure he's partially retarded. The man has NO clue. So yeah it was Bill. that's so easy, I think 50% of the people on this board could do a better job than Bavasi. Well, 50% is a lot, but there are a ton of people on here who could do the same or better job than Bavasi.
  5. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Apr 3, 2007 -> 05:46 PM) Hey, one thing you have to give Ozzie is that he's pretty no-nonsense. I believe him. He wants to win. I don't care if people thing he puts the wrong team out there or stays with pitchers too long...end of the day, he wants to win. And he won't tolerate people who don't feel the same way. I agree, and I think that's why he said it. As far as I figure, if Ozzie's gone, it's rebuilding time. If he's still here, they're going to try and keep winning. Maybe I'm wrong, but I think that may be the message he's not only sending to his players, but also even to management.
  6. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/baseball/wh...ozzie03.article This would please the hell out of some of us, but I think it's more bark than bite.
  7. So I'm either confused or coming to a very cool realization... If Zell, who has purchased the TribuneCo., has to now sell the Cubs, does that mean that the Tribune has partial indirect ownership of the White Sox now?
  8. according to Baseball Tonight, the last pitcher to get f***ed up as badly and quickly as Jose Contreras did today was Dave Stewart in 1995 for the A's. I encourage all of you to not look at his season numbers. and really, with this post, I'm just making an irrelevant yet somehow kind of connected point, just like every person comparing this team to the 2005 team. I really don't think Contreras is going to put up an ERA near 7.00.
  9. QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 10:12 PM) I disagree to a point. Lifting only heavy weights is not a great idea IMHO. You stand a chance of losing a lot of mobility and felxibility. It's a given you have to stretch every workout, but I'd say mix in lighter (I don't mean light, I mean where you hit 12, 10, 8, 6, 8, 10, 12). You shouldn't be able to do it in five months, but everyone is pretty dead on here. Putting on muscle is hard for just about everyboy. I could help you so much more on losing weight. And in all honesty, I don't think it'd be very healthy for you to put on that much muscle mass that quickly. somebody got a new keyboard
  10. QUOTE(rangercal @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 09:50 PM) Count the worst? definitely looks like it
  11. Santana and Carpenter both got more than 3 outs
  12. QUOTE(ScottyDo @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 10:55 AM) Gotcha. I'd be cool with that. Erstad possibly could leadoff too; in fact, he seems like the stereotypical Ozzie Guillen leadoff hitter. So long as Iguchi hit 2nd, it would be productive.
  13. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 07:21 PM) ha. he probably could too but hes so valuable coming off the bench. how about someone like ronnie belliard? i liked him a lot when he played with cle. lol, no I actually think Pablo would be a horrendous choice. He would be exposed quickly. They'll come up with someone. I hope they retain Iguchi, but there's no guarantee for anything. It's entirely possible the Sox could trade Crede for a pitcher and a 2B prospect who takes over. We'll have to see.
  14. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 07:12 PM) Gil Meche gave up 1 run in 7.1 IP today. That entire team looked good, though still relatively untalented. They don't look like a 90 loss team right now, though talent usually does tend to even itself out.
  15. QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 07:12 PM) what makes you say that? we most likely have to resign him because then who else will play second for us? PABLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
  16. haha, its double posting all over atleast the game thread is entertaining.
  17. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) Erstad better grinder his way to a 5 run homer close enough...thxmch
  18. QUOTE(ScottyDo @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 09:02 AM) Heh. That's a crappy comparison because I don't think anybody will ever argue that Pods is better than Rollins. Then why are you arguing that Podsednik is better than Dellucci? The only thing Podsednik has ever done that Dellucci really hasn't is steal bases, and Podsednik didn't steal bases at anywhere close to a good clip last year. How is it arguable? Stolen bases? Dellucci gets on at a better clip over his career, he has gotten on at a better clip recently, and he's in scoring position more often than Podsednik is. That's really all you can ask of a leadoff hitter, right? And I don't understand what you're getting at by suggesting Crede, but there's no doubt in my mind at all that he'd be a better leadoff hitter than Podsednik simply because he'll score more runs. That's all you want out of your leadoff hitter, right?
  19. QUOTE(ScottyDo @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 09:11 AM) Erstad leading off? Iguchi
  20. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 2, 2007 -> 03:33 AM) In honor of Opening Day and the signings of yesterday I updated and improved the look of my Player Salary Sheet. I always forget just how good of a deal that Sox got Konerko for. That looks like robbery right now.
  21. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Apr 1, 2007 -> 09:55 PM) even worse was the fact that the pitch right before it was fouled off and Konerko was running. It was so obvious and KC still couldn't do anything. Of course Beltran got the final laugh with Marte and Botch pouring the gas on the fire. no Mendy Lopez made them laugh with his last career homer in the majors.
  22. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Apr 1, 2007 -> 09:49 PM) Here are the 8 keys to victory. 1.) DO NOT PITCH TO HAFNER. ROLL IT ON THE GROUND IF NEED BE. 2.) Get into their craptacular pen of misery. Roberto Hernandez and Joe Borowski are exciting. 3.) DO NOT PITCH TO HAFNER. I DONT CARE IF YOU ARE THE f***ING MANAGER. 4.) Our starters do not need to pitch a complete game. If you feel that they are tiring. Please by all means take them out, and that is not when they have thrown 110 pitches and have the bases loaded. 5.) YOU DONT NEED TO STEAL OR BUNT ON EVERY f***ING PLAY. 6.) Mr. Shines, meet Mr. Cora, dont do what he did last year. 7.) Contreras throw strikes. 8.) Ozzie dont get appendage happy late in the game. Keep the magic 8 ball at home. what about Hafner?
