"Rooney suggests Konerko beats himself up too much."

Doesn't Kenny Lofton get tired going to losing teams EVERY year only to get traded to a contender come playoff time? Maybe he likes it White Sox, Pirates, now Padres Oh boy....
-
Rumor on Cubs message board is Garrett Anderson from Angels for Moises Alou, Juan Cruz and cash That would be great for the Cubs....they get the LH bat and a non-injury prone LF
-
Cannot be Yanks since they have Sheffield Cannot be Bo Sox (not too much $ remaining) Cannot be Ms (Ichiro) Cannot be As (they got their OFs recently) Cannot be Cubs (Soso not goign anywhere) Cannot be any of the low payroll teams like Pirates, Royals, Reds, DRays, Expos etc Cannot be Angels (no more $ I guess unless they trade someone) Cannot be Cards with Pujols there and not much $ either and they need pitching badly Cannot be Astros (not much $ there and they need pitching too) Orioles and maybe Padres come to mind ...anyone else? Tigers??????

He was rumored to go to the Royals for a long time now....no surprise there Now if only someone who was rumored to go to us actually did it would actually be news

What troubles me the most about the Sox payroll
sox-r-us replied to sox-r-us's topic in Pale Hose Talk
But that is my exact point about Hawkins, Rex...why should our payroll be only 60 mill when the division is there for the taking? Why should a very good reliever at 5 mill a year be an issue when it almost guranatees us to the playoffs. We used to spend a lot more when we had no chance with the freaking Indians... As for Colon again, if he breaks down in year one or goes 12-13, how much difference would a 3yr/36 mill vs 4 yr/48 mill make? Colon's agent said he wanted more years than just 3 .....why not give him 4 If we thought he was worth 12 mill a year, then 3yrs 36 is SAME as 4 yrs 48 mill The only diff between the two is if he gets injured .... so my point is we would be f***ed if he was injured independent of 3 vs 4 years....not to mention the fact that the upside to getting him was a huge chance at everything next year Again, there is no logic to it. The only way our position makes sense is if we are convinced he cannot last beyond 3 years....but he is not that old and has not had injury issues. His leg strength is awesome and will stay that way The Sox did mess this up....Colon went for the same f***ing money we were offering per year because of our f***ed up conservatism at assuming he might turn out the next Jamie Navarro between year 3 and 4 We had the first shot at negotiating with him and he should not have hit the market after what he did last year for us....with any decent batting in the first half, he would have won 20 games easily again. His effect will be eflt when we see our bull pen get raped next year as exposed as it will be I bet Marte becomes mediocre next year having to pitch almost 1 and a half times more from that pen -
What troubles? I have not kept up....not seen BMR, Clujer, Roman post either...what happened?

What troubles me the most about the Sox payroll
sox-r-us replied to sox-r-us's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I would have added Hawkins....his deal was not that bad...we could have offered him 3 years 14 mill guaranteed Colon wanted a 4th year added to his contract. We should have done that.....why are we so scared of sure things? He is not Jamie Navarro and no, he will not get injured just because Wells did How ridiculous is it? We are willing to give 3 years 36 mill but cannot give one more year at 12 mill because we are scared of him getting injured (see KW's quote).....where is the logic in that? Isn't the risk equally high with the 3 year 36 mill? And the same thing for Robbie Alomar....why not 2 years for 5 mill? Why low ball him with 1 year at 2 mill? -
When the Indians were a power house, JR did everything to try and win the division Albert Belle, Jaime Navarro etc etc Now, when the division is up for grabs to the point that we could win it by A/S break, he makes no effort to get us to win it I just do not get it Must be the attendance that I pointed in the other thread....the attendance was very good in the 90s....at least until 94

whitesoxfan99 I must ask Who is the white chick on the left out of the 3 below your post?
-
But I saw a post from her to Ncorbgl today at WSI She still hates KW....
-
Did you read that we made a 3 year 36 million offer to Colon or did you conveniently let it slide? Did you read that we made an offer to Alomar and tried to avoid arbitration with Sully until the last weekend?

It is from 7-9pm Central time Which continent do you live in?
-
So you have given up on Koch?
-
How about maybe getting Sirotka or Parque back? Or how about Todd Ritchie? I swear it was like yesterday when we won the AL Central and had TONS and I repeat TONS of supposedly great young pitching....where did it go?????????? Parque, Sirotka, Rauch, Wright, Garland, Kip Wells, etc etc

And while JR is definitely an issue, you do realize he has a board to report to too. I saw JR spend TONS of cash to maintain the Bulls year in and year out for a decade.
-
I am not b****ing about attendance to you with the intent to get some of you to go to games. I know most of you do, and moist of you go to more than I could (since I do not live in Chicago) But I do want to point out that attendance is the reason, and I have heard tons of Sox fans STILL crying for the lock out, the Belle signing, the Ventura release etc OMFG...get over it
-
Yes, many Cub fans are moron, but fact is they go to watch and that HELPS them field a team they want to field I will bet you anything the Cubs will be competitive and contending for the next 3 to 4 years easily unless some of their pitchers' arms fall off
-
Wow smart ass.....if you could be objective for a while, you coudl recognize the root of the problem Most folks on this board, I believe, are die hards and I do not doubt their loyalty...but there are tons of others who whine and b**** and still do not go to the games
-
Bulls*** We had a team going down the wire last year and no one would show up unless it was the half price nights Even after we won the division and lost to the Ms, the next year there was not much increase in attendance Go take a look at a Ms game some time and see how many people actually go to see them play The facts are the Sox fans are pathetic when it comes to attending and supporting their team Here is some news for you: JR WILL NEVER SPEND unless we fill out the stadium....no business man would do it. There is no guarantee he will spend even if we fill out the stadium (see the Ms they never do anything at the trade deadline despite selling out), but if you want to see your Sox win, get your ass to the stadium Otherwise we will never attract the key FAs....when has anyone ever said they want to go play for the White Sox?
-
Before we accuse Kenny of anything here, keep in mind that the Ms actually get fans to watch them (they have probably one of the highest attendances in the MLB) As a player, why would I sign for a sh~t hole club like the Sox who no one comes to watch I hope the Sox move to a city that will care for them. All Sox fans do is whine and moan about something 10 freaking years ago instead of paying to watch them play, thereby helping management make some moves to win.
-
I heard this on the radio here in the Northwest today morning. The Ms have an offer for 3 years 24 mill to Tejada too. Looks like we will not be getting anyone. I can see us dumping payroll though. Oh well....
-
No Marte will stay in BP I am sure we will get another starter.....do not be surprised if we get Maddux
