  1. Why do we need someone with a 5.83 ERA? At least this answers the question of whether we are keeping Nomaaah or not.
  2. 3. I live in the Northwest and get Seattle radio here There is no talk about any Valentin trade here I will not be surprised if we play Val at 2B this year
  4. I have seen posts from Curt on that board.... If Jerry reads these boards :fyou
  5. I f***ing just do not get what is so great about him? Trading Paulie for him is fine, because it is a salary dump but NO FREAKING WAY we give up Nomar for Perez and the prospects/Mota, because he is not worth it Screw Perez....I rather take my chances with Wright starting
  6. Shouldn't we be getting happy if the Dodgers get someone good as opposed to the Os, since the Dodgers are NL (who we do not play and the cubs will play)? I know the KW-Evans thingy and the Dodgers wanting pitchjing for PK thingy, but let it go.....dodger hatred is not where it is at
  7. We do not have much leverage folks in the Val deal....remember Seattle can live with Guillen if they have to.....they know we are screwed if we get Nomar and have to unload Jose Though I would not mind keeping Jose for 2B than letting him go, can Jose play 2B effectively?
  8. ``He's fine mentally,'' Shapiro said. ``He wasn't looking to leave, and we were not looking to get rid of him. He is an important part of this team.'' Anyone think the BoSox and Texas will say similar stuff if their deal falls apart too?
  9. I do wonder about the payroll If Colon had accepted I see no way how we could have met our payroll Add to that the fact that Kenny has said he is willing to not trade anyone if it does not help us get better, and I wonder....we will find out if/when Nomar gets here and then whether we unload a salary or not
  10. I bet you if this deal goes through, Maggs will get his much deserved publicity now since he will play for Boston, cauing Peter Gammons to kiss his ass I swear it is amazing how much more he will be recognized around the league after this deal And the sad thing is that Chicago is a much bigger town than Boston SELL JERRY SELL
  11. There is a part of me that will not be too sad if this deal does not go through That way, that money-mongering ass Arod will have to play for Texas for some more time, giving him no shot at the Wolrd Series Championship That way the BoSox will be stuck with Manny for that ridiculous contract Nomah will be pissed to play for the BoSox, so will Manny....leading to lots of fun in Boston Maggs will be pissed for a while, but I do not see him letting him affect his play, and he knows it is a business, and that the White Sox do not have the revenue for him anyways next year
  12. Ok, I just got an email from someone who read on some other message board that this is Nomah's production split at and away from Fenway....this makes me happier....it is not that bad, and maybe we will be ok with the swap in terms of the O production Nomar has 83 HR in 478 games at Fenway - one HR every 5.75 games. Nomar has 90 HR in 450 away games - one HR every 5 games. Hits .338 at home. Hits .308 on the road. Career BA with RISP and 2 outs: .303 Maggs career BA with RISP and 2 outs: .263
  13. Our biggest problem last year was O production until the Everett and Robbie trade. Even then we had big issues in Minnesota scoring runs Add to that the fact that we lose Maggs O production (which is and will be better than Nomah's next year, especially now that Nomah cannot play every game at Fenway), and the fact that we will lose Valentin's power #s (say what you want but 20 Hrs is huge), we need to replenish that somewhere I have horrors from watching Willie and Rowand last year....they suck and are good from the bench or against the righty (for Willie) or lefty (for Rowand) matchups We get better D and switch hitting capability from the Nomah-Maggs switch but we definitely lose out on the O front If you do not want Juan, and given Everett is not possible to get before June (which means never), what do we do then for O from the CF and RF positions? Wait for the trade deadline?
  14. I bet he gets at least 40 home runs next year, with >120 RBIs with that lineup I can only imagine Maggs hitting everything off the green monster and over it
  15. Is anyone else scared of Williamson after his 6 ERA with the AL before the playoffs (where he got much much better)? What do we do at RF? I doubt Borchard is still ready.....I believe we need a stop gap at RF and CF until Borchard and Reed come up. I would love it if we could get Juan Gone for RF We could then trade Valentin for most likely Guillen giving us the 2B we need (Guillen), making Willie harris a bench player next year (which is ideal) If we cannot trade PK and/or Koch we will have a very solid line up, though there would be no legit lead off guy (in games where Willie Harris does not play) and there would not be any left handed hitting (except when Nomah plays lefty) Guillen C Lee Frank Nomah Juan Gone Paul Kong Rowand Crede Olivo/Sandy
  16. Isn't there a huge difference in the salaries though?
  17. I do not see the fascination with Cotts.....his control and fast ball speed are mediocre at best

    Memories

I remember Albert Belle all too well
  19. The Sox can slowly start getting Sox fans back by extending Nomar....this is huge Although O production looks similar and might be lower for Nomah than Maggs, Nomah plays the more important position in terms of D on the field, plays it very well which will only help our pitchers, can bat from left or right side of the plate and frnakly, if I have to spend a lot of money at a position, other than quality pitching, I want it at SS Other positions are not difficult to get production from at cheaper salaries....add that to the fact that our SS depth is weak in the minors etc, we could get better in a hurry here thanks to the Bo Sox
  20. And the crapole continues where KW gets blamed for every bad move and someone else gets the credit for the good moves Get over it....it is lame
  21. I would LOVE it if this happened Nomar and Williamson for Maggs (some prospects one way or the other) Sox keep Nomar Salary status: Increase by 1 or 2 mill as Maggs makes more than Nomar this year by 1 mill and Williamson adds to slaary for this year by one mill I believe Sox dump Konerko on the Dodgers who do not have too many options left and get anything in return (even Perez and a prospect is fine with me, does not have to include Mota) Salary status: Reduce salary by 3-4 mill from this trade and overall reduction of 2 mill or so Sox then trade Valentin for Guillen to Ms Salary status: Further reduction of salary by 2 mill or so, and overall reduction of 4 mill or so Sox then trade for Everett for prospects Salary status: Add 3 mill or so ..... overall reduction stands at ~0.5mill or so Sox unload Koch on Mets for anything Salary status: Overall reduction by 6 mill or so With the 6 mill remaining, sign Rafael Palmeiro and Jeff Nelson for bullpen This ends up for us as follows (notice both left and right handed production throughout line up): Willie Harris/Rowand CF Carlos Guillen 2B FT DH Palmeiro 1B Nomah SS C Lee LF Everett RF Crede 3B Olivo C Burhle, Elo, Perez, Garland Scho for starters BullPen: Williamson, Marte, Wunsch, Jeff Nelson, Danny Wright
  22. Are you ready to change your name beastly or change your allegiance to which Sox you root for?
  23. Remember guys.....before this deal Kenny was going to go into this season with Maggs, Frank, Kong and Valentin with the White Sox Given Nomah makes less/almost same as Maggs this year, and that Maggs would AT LEAST make as much as Nomah after this year, we are in the same boat in terms of salary after the Maggs-Nomah trade for this year and for the future Since the two salaries are exchanged with no idea if Nomah (or Maggs if the trade did not occur) will extend, I prefer it this way because stud SSs who can hit and play as well defensively as Nomah are difficult to find It is very easy to get half of Maggs or even more production in the OF at 1/3 his salary (eg Everett) And we have Reed and Borchard waiting to come up which means we have no place for Maggs anyway Hence, I WOULD NOT TRADE NOMAH AWAY AFTER WE GET HIM, because he makes us better for this year (we are contending for this year, remember...the division is ours if this goes through), he does not change anything for next year in terms of salary, it provides our young stud OFers a chance to come up at much cheaper payroll, and it improves our D overall a lot Now it also gives the opportunity to unload Jose and get some more salary relief to add a OF like Everett if needed for the next year for CF
  24. I would screw the Red Sox for as much as I could with this deal, because keep in mind....they HAVE to get Maggs...no ifs, buts etc ... they have no leverage since they have screwed Nomar now and they want ARod BADLY So, KW. do not give up any more than Maggs and get as much as you can besides Nomar Otherwise, tell the Red Sox to screw themselves....they need a OF with power badly aftre this deal, so screw them I say
  25. If it is Damien Miller that goes the other way, the Cubs might actually sign I Rod, because they needed to clear Damien's salary to have a shot at IRod
