IT'S OPENING DAY BABY My pre-season pessimism is out of the window, and now I am going to root root root for the Sox to win it all
-
This team f***ing sucks Why the f*** did we ever think of Scho as a starter? What has he ever done? I hope Jerry dies for not giving the extra few million to keep Colon instead :puke
-
The Frank Thomas s***ters can kiss my ass :fyou losers
-
Yes, closer is absolutely the most overrated position in all of sports The runs given up in the 1st inning are equally counted as one in the last or the one in the 7th where some set up guy is pitching
-
Willie Harris f***ing SUCKS....why the hell does this guy belong on a MLB roster? Shingo continues to get ROCKED (9.00 ERA in the spring training games already) Koch is never going to get it back Schoe, Garland and Wright are disasters and will continue to be in games that matter ELo has lost his one season fluke magic The only player worth his darn is Frank Thomas, with a 0.364 batting avg through spring.....and there were morons here who wanted to dump him for some scrub pitcher because they are so f***ing jealous of Frank Drop the cool-aid......time to dump everyone

SportingNews/Fox sports is runnign a segment called WHat if for all major sports (for eg they have a What if Michael Jordan had been picked by the Blazers) They have one for baseball, recalling what if the 94 strike had not occurred......this is dear to my heart because I firmly believe we would have made some noise that year in the playoffs, not to mention, our crowds would never have ebbed to what it is today, and we would continue to own the town over the cubs http://www.foxsports.com/content/view?contentId=2190540

Here are the #s: Under the terms of the contract, Marte will receive $500,000 in 2004, $1.25 million in 2005 and $2.25 million in 2006, with the Sox holding the options at $3 million -- with a $250,000 buyout -- in both 2007 and 2008. Marte was eligible for salary arbitration starting after the 2004 season and could have become a free agent after the 2007 season. "This is an agreement that not only rewards him for what he's accomplished as one of the most, if not the most, dependable reliever in our pen the last couple years, but gives us some cost certainty moving forward for potentially the next five years," assistant general manager Rick Hahn said. I love it

Will the Frank Thomas bashers please stand up?
sox-r-us replied to sox-r-us's topic in Pale Hose Talk
And how many times have the press and blind fools like aboz made a big issue wit Frank? Facts are he is the best White Sox player for the last 10 years. Treat him with some respect. -

aboz Don't you have some buehrle-I-rather-be-a-cardinal poster to go worship somewhere? Pretty ironical that you want to bash Frank, the man who embodies the White Sox, while you cannot get enough of mark buerhle....the punk who would rather play for the cardinals -
How would you like your crow served? Frank walks into camp early and says he has no issues with Ozzie and is reasy to play ball. He had better offers to go to but decided to stay with the Sox. Hopefully, one of these days you bozos will realize what this man has given to this franchise.....he is the best Sox ever.....and he will be in the HOF as a White Sox some day Go look at today's market, then come back and tell me how many men that put up Frank's #s will be making 6 mill this year. So, to those s***ting on Frank all off-season, here is a hearty :fyou May you all get to sleep next to Gay Moronotti in hell!!!

Sammy Sosa said he grew up hitting the worst baseballs imaginable, so he doesn't look for differences in balls. "If you make good contact, it doesn't matter what kind of ball you hit—it's going to go out of the ballpark," he said. "It's a good question. Barry Bonds can give you more details." … Sosa said he enjoys melding into a more balanced lineup after years of being the focal point. "Those years we weren't winning, I was keeping Chicago very happy with all those [home run] numbers I had," Sosa said. "Now I've come to the conclusion we have a team that can compete, and I feel happier now because I don't have to go out there and kill myself." ================ Does this guy know that all of Chicago does NOT love him? He killed himself all these years for Chicago? hahahahaha

I know too early to talk about next offseason, but if we lose Maggs, we could sign one of the SS available next offseason (see at the bottom of the article).....unless George signs one more to play at 2B http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/gammons/story?id=1738930

Where can Maggs go realistically aftre this year?
sox-r-us replied to sox-r-us's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I hope we know one way or the other, by the A/S break, whether we have a legit shot at the division or no We could get a very good pitching prospect by trading Maggs at the trade deadline to a team trying to beat the Yanks to win it all (maybe the As, Ms or Angels) I would hate to keep him all year, not win the division (like last year) and then lose him in the offseason for nothing -
If we assume for a minute that Maggs wants 14 mill a year at least for 4 years, which team can realistically give it to him in the offseason? The Yankees have no chance now that their payroll is ~$200mill, and they have Sheffield and Matsui as their OF'ers. The Angels will not throw that kind of money at him given they got their OF'er in Vlad Guerrerro this off season The Cubs will not be able to give him that contract especially since I doubt Sosa opts for FA now that the Yanks are out of bidding for him, and given Maddux' contract, and the need to extend Kerry Wood, and find someone to play SS The Padres can give him a huge contract to get a marquee face (like the Tigers did with IRod), but Maggs would be foolish to go play for a non-contender when he could return to the Sox for a little less The Texas Rangers will not spend on hitting, they need to spend on pitching In my mind, the BoSox, Mariners. Dodgers and Orioles might be the most likely destinations for Maggs, in my mind, since they will be the only ones with any payroll possibilities The BoSox might let Nomar go and then replace his O with Maggs in the OF opposite Man-Ram, though I am not sure for how long they have signed Trot Nixon, and they do have to extend Pedro too maybe The Ms will get some payroll with Edgar M finally retiring, and they could use Maggs in LF or move Ichiro to LF The Dodgers new ownership will need to get some O in there, and Maggs can be their corenerstone player The Os might decide to continue to spend to compete in that crazy AL East

I do not get it.....even if the MLB got a cap for every team, what would the Yankees do then? They have all their big money folks like Jeter, ARod, Giambi, Sheffield etc signed for > 5 years....they cannot get under the cap even if they wanted to, say, two years from today..... Facts are the damage has been done.....expect the Yankees to win around 5 of the next 10 WS, and play in 8 of the next 10 WS.....dem are just the facts.....
-
I do not get it....if you want everyone to talk about the Sox, show your ass at the ball park....if you spend, Jerry will spend and KW will build a winner....it is really that simple Get it?

He might have had a heart attack with the Arod to Spankees deal
