I know Manny is the anti-thesis of what this team is made of.....but I really want us to add one more bat in the offseason.....with our pitching I see us with another shot next year (not to say we may not win it all this year, but those Cardinals really scare me ..... they have pitching and hitting....) I would be fine with re-signing Paulie and Frank coming back.....but my God the thought of Manny hitting at the Cell has me really going. There are reports that he is looking to change his agent and ask to be traded from the Bo Sox. Independent of what happens this year with our Sox, I want to contend every year and not break this momentum. We obviously have great pitching set for next year too (Buerhle, Count, Garland, Garcia, McCarthy to start and add El Duque to bullpen as set up man), and while our O has been game all playoffs, the Boston pitching is weak and I think we need to upgrade our O in the offseason. How about trading for Manny Ramirez???? The guy would be a monster at the Cell and make us a legit contender again next year. Here are my $0.02: During that great El Duque 6th inning, Sutcliffe actually said (when Graffanino came up to bat), that they are supposed to be neutral announcers (taking a jab at Boomer) but hwo can you not root for Graffy in this situation after what happened in game 2. I respect such favoritism, where he makes it clear why he is rooting for something and also acknowledging that he is supposed to be neutral Also, I thik Piazza was very neutral and gave us tons of props, so did Sutcliffe.

That 5 pitch inning where he got both Ortiz and Manny was key.....that gave him confidence and the team took off after that

In fact, if you had to go ahead and pick one game, just one, that the Red Sox would lose in this best-of-five affair, well you did take a glance at the pitching lineups, did you not? What was Matt Clement supposed to do out there? Suddenly become the pitcher he hasn’t been since June? That’s not going to happen, especially when he’s going up against an all-of-a-sudden stud in Jose Contreras, who showed he’s still the pitcher he was in September, when he was nails. What’s more concerning about Clement than his inability to locate his fastball is that his late-season swoon is now as much of a tradition for him as the freshman paddles were for the boys of Richard Linkletter’s youth. The Red Sox were able to seal their playoff spot a wee bit earlier than the final day, and properly lined up Curt Schilling and Pedro Martinez to go up 2-0 on the Angels. Schilling won’t pitch until Saturday this time around (if it gets there) and Pedro isn’t here. That is a marked difference in your world champs and these guys. And yet, they are still good enough to get the job done for one series at least. The White Sox couldn’t have looked much better, and it’s been some time since we’ve seen the Red Sox look any worse. With any luck, a little bit of balance will be on display in Game 2.
