Looks like Pods might get a day off and Everett might get a start against CC ================ Guillen has struggled with juggling playing time for Thomas and Everett. He indicated Everett could start in left field for Sunday's game against Cleveland, giving leadoff man Scott Podsednik a day off. That means Thomas will start at DH for a second straight game. http://chicagosports.chicagotribune.com/sp...-home-headlines ================== I see the following lineup for tomorrow Iguchi or Willie at 2B (and leading off) Rowand CF Frank DH Everett LF Kong 1B Dye RF AJ C Uribe SS Cruddy 3B

Our offense is capable of getting shut out too with CC on the mound. Should be a pitchers duel.

QUOTE(sayitanitso @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 04:16 AM) Thanks, Knightni takes all credit for making it. I gave him a idea, and he came up with a work of art . I love it. The only problem is it seems he is not going to Charlotte, and instead it is going to be Willie -
I hope we sweep but for whatever reason our boys and our manager just do not like going for the jugular It would be huge if we can win, twinkies lose again to the Spankees, and we get a nice cushion again

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 03:48 AM) It's a 4-game series, putz. The Padres can still split. So now I am a putz because I had a factual error. Go get a break Jabroni. You are breaking down. -

QUOTE(Wedge @ Jun 3, 2005 -> 05:36 PM) Precisely. The short-term benefits of the Cubs having their starters pitch long into games will most likely come back to haunt them in August and September. The Cubs absolutely cannot win games where their bullpen has to pitch extended (i.e. 2+) and important innings. Their seven game winning streak: 3 wins against the horrible Rockies, 3 wins against a flagging Dodgers team, 1 win against a division leader. Let's see how they do over the next seven games. To do this, they've had to have outstanding (not good, not great, but outstanding) starting pitching efforts, even with white-hot performances by Lee and Ramerez. Cubs are about to win the series against the Padres. They are up 10-1 in the rubber match with little to no chance for the Padres to win. -
The problem is Paulie is the same as Cruddy these days. The only thing one can hope from them is a HR every once in a while. Other than that, they hardly get any hits or walks.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 02:01 AM) Another issue is the division we play in. All those games against the Royals, Tigers, and Indians, with very little drawing power, also hurts our attendance. We killed out selves 30 years ago when the team went pay per view and the Cubs had SuperStation WGN. I forget the TV system ON_TV or something like that. Prior to that we were on UHF Channel 44, poor reception in the suburbs, and the Cubs were beaming WGN with a better picture. We lost a generation. I'm guessing the die hard, knowledgeable, baseball fan base is split about 45-55. The casual, goes to one or two games a year and couldn't tell Crede from Walker are split 80-20 to the Cubs. That's the battleground. The casual "bandwagon jumpers" we make fun of. Those are the fans we need at the games. Instead of looking at them in disgust and talking about being a "true fan"; we need to suck it up and welcome them and hope they bring 10 friends to their next game. You are correct about WGN helping promote the Cubs. The Cubs-Padres game is on now (Cubs up 11-1) and all you can hear in the stadium is "Let's go Cubs". And this game is in San Diego.

Yeah it looks like Rincon and Romero are studs. Hopefully, they get tired when it matters late in the season -

I can see the Spankees going after Frank as a DH in the offseason if the Sox let Frank walk That would suck but I can see that happening. Frank will not cost a lot, but still will get paid decently by the Boss. And whatever the Boss pays will be more than anyone else will. And Frank will still have some chance to win a ring there (though I doubt it personally since I see the Yankees only getting worst next year with older players like Rivera, Gordon, Bernie W etc) -

Why do the Yankmees have freaking Giambi protecting ARod? Shouldn't ARod be batting 3rd or 4th and Matsui go to 5th spot????? Ridiculous -
QUOTE(qwerty @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 12:39 AM) I stopped reading after you said timo can play the outfield and first base. Good one. Obviously I meant as per Ozzie's thinking, not mine.
-
Ever since I started this thread, the Sox have owned the 1st place since
-
Uh????? That graph shows we are doing better than last year, which I knew even before starting this thread. But it still does not answer the question as to why we have only 23K on a Fri night with a winning team in June. You cannot be that stupid, Jabroni. Wake up and smell the coffee, and get with the program.

QUOTE(knightni @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 12:07 AM) Harris = fast Perez = not fast Harris = Good D Perez = not good D Harris = Young Perez = Older Harris = More Walks, Fewer Ks Perez = The opposite Harris = Can play the infield Perez = The Man With The Iron Glove Harris = Higher BA Perez = Under .200 Anyone else wanna add to this? Timo = Latino Harris not = Latino Believe me, that matters with Ozzie. Just look at our roster.
-
The reason they are keeping Timo over Harris is that Timo can play the OF and 1B I know, it still does not make much sense since now Gload can man 1B back up duty and Everett is already there for OF back up duty Harris would be better served being up here as he can back up both 2B and SS Ozuna can back up all IF spots except 1B
