We are going to have problems against the Rockies because we will have to play without Frank and Everett I wish Ozzie would just bench Paulie's ass and play Everett at 1B once in a while. Paulie is so useless it is not even funny anymore. I hope we do not even think about re-signing his over-rated ass in the off season.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 05:49 AM) When's the last time we played a team that sucked and we didn't let their one or two good hitters kill us? The answer is never. You mean like we always let Mike Sweeney kill us?

QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:02 AM) I'm still not sure how you guys are totally discounting a team who has suddenly compiled the 4th best record in the NL without their two frontline pitchers and their starting shortstop It is called blind hatred or too much kool aid. Which is a shame because I generally think of White Sox fans as being the smart ones when it comes to analyzing baseball. Once Prior comes back, the Cubs will be contending for the wild card all the way through, injuries not withstanding. Also, I would not be surprised one bit if we lost the series against them at the Cell. Looking at how badly our O has been against tough pitchers (see CC Sabathia today), it could easily happen. I still wish to see an all-Chicago World Series in my lifetime. Who knows, it might even happen this year. Stranger things have happened. Just look at what happened last year with the Bo Sox and all. Maybe the Cubs and White Sox are destined to win it all soon too. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:30 AM) I agree with you but as long as Neifi continues to hit like an All-Star, the Cubs won't be missing Nomar nor can Cubs fans use it as an excuse. By the way, Neifi was 3 for 5 with 2 runs today. Trust me, you do not have to convince me about Neifi. See my earlier post where I said I would take Neifi over Uribe on our team right now. Uribe is a joke with his pitch selection. I do not even know why major league pitchers bother throwing a strike to him (or Cruddy). Just throw it low and out of the zone, and they will bend over swinging at everything -

QUOTE(fathom @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:27 AM) For the record, I just started reading the thread like 2 pages ago. If you're not a Cubs fan, I apologize for making a statement which made it look like that's what I thought. He has said a 100 times that he hates the Cubs and he started this thread purely to discuss baseball objectively. -
QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 04:26 PM) It would have been a helluva matchup if it was he and MB but I'm glad we miss him....good news for the sox. Yeah, but a match up we would have lost. Throughout his career, Buerhle has lost more than won in these great matchups. His matchps vs Mulder were mostly losses for Sox, his matchup against Santana earlier this year was a loss for the SOx, his matchup against CC ended up being a loss for us and if it was not for Betancourt, it would have been a loss for Buerhle. Truth is Buerhle is good but a cut below the real studs. In those games, we invariably lose.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 01:05 PM) Now thats the kind of optimism we need around here. Sheesh. That is just reality. Did you see what CC Sabathia did today? Enough said.

It is going to be pathetic watching Uribe and Cruddy swinging at everything a mile out of the strike zone. They need no incentive to pull for the fences, and this park will only make them do that more often. Pathetic ....really.

QUOTE(Hideaway Lights @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:21 AM) You guys are hilarious. I don't know how many times I have to keep saying I'm not a cubs fan. They will never get it Hideaway. Just look at the attendance thread. Some people have no clue how to debate objectively. -

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 6, 2005 -> 12:18 AM) True, but Neifi is hitting .325 with a .348 OBP, 7 homeruns, and 26 RBI's. Nomar would have a tough time beating those insane numbers. Even Neifi probably doesn't know how he is doing it. Yeah but Neifi will come back down to earth and if Nomah gets enough at bats, he will converge more to his career #s Either way, the Cubs are definitely going to be contending for the wild card spot this year. -

I agree with Jabroni that the Cubs actually got the better end of the deal with Neifi getting to play instead of Nomah But chances are high that Nomah will return to his career avg. After all, if Chavez will, I am sure Nomah will too But Hideaway's poitn is very valid. When the Cubs do get Wood and Prior back, they will be a very dangerous team. Remains to be seen if they can still get into the playoffs though in the NL cluster -

Cubs just won the series 3-1 against the Padres. In case some of you here did not know -
Ozzie should punch run for Paulie with Pods here....Podscan steal 2nd easily setting us up for the winning run ANd then let Timo replace Pods to play 1st B ...I know it is Timo but for one inning it might be ok
-
Thank God Ozzie got to his senses and removed Botch (Cotts) there. Or else he would have walked/wild pitched the entire side in for Cleveland Just because Botch got lucky with that come backer does not mean he was pitching any good again

If the Sox trade either Everett or Thomas to the Angels, Kenny W shoudl be fired on the spot. And this is coming from one of his most ardent supporters. WHY THE FOCK SHOULD W EHELP OUT ANOTHER AL CONTENDING TEAM? Do we want to see our asses handed to us by the Angels int he playoffs? We went 4-3 against them and that could easily have been 6-1 in their favor (or ours). Bottom line - you do not help out another contender when you are trying to win a WS. For a change, there may be no yankees to deal with in the playoffs. Then why help anyone else????? Ozzie is a focking moron. He has no clue how if we trade Frank our O would be continue to stay pitiful and we might even not make it with the Twins right behind us. And if we trade Everett and Frank's injury reappears, we are screwed too. Just stay the course. Give Rowand, Dye, Pods, Big Hurt days off and get Everett some at bats that way. Or still better bench Paulie's pathetic ass and play FRank at 1B. If Timo can play 1B, so can Frank. Much better than Timo at least. Ozzie is such an idiot. I hope JR steps in and stops this Kenny + Ozzie love fest to drive Frank out of here. :headshake

QUOTE(Yossarian @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 05:20 PM) Owned because attendance is up 11%?

Yes this is a horrible article. If I was Frank, I would really wonder what have I ever done that is so bad that I have been always targetted in this city. People say players do not have loyalty anymore to their team/city. I hope those people realize how players get treated these days....like freaking commodities

QUOTE(FlaCWS @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 01:50 AM) I've mentioned this before... but I just jumped on the Sox bandwagon last season. I'm a NY fan except for baseball, and last year I started traveling to Chicago every couple of months and became interested in the Sox. Anyway... I finally got my first chance to see a home game when I was in town last week. I totally lucked out because I went on Memorial day, which happened to be Frank's first game back, and it was a beautiful day with a packed house. I was extremely impressed with the stadium. It was way nicer than I even thought it would be, and it was so easy to get there on the red line from downtown (I got on at Washington). I don't get why people bash our stadium. The crap about there being nothing to do around the stadium is just that... crap. There's not much to do around either of the NY stadiums, and the same is true in Philly. I guess people compare it to 'Wrigleyville' but that's not fair. It's easy to get to the Cell, and it's easy to hop back on the red line after a game and hang out downtown. I have no problem with the location. I sat in right field, about halfway between 1B and the foul pole. I was only two rows from the very back of the section (lower level) but the view was great. I walked around a lot in centerfield during the game since it was such a nice day. I only had two complaints: 1. They need to put some "counter space" around the lower level, especially in the centerfield walkway. What I mean is that you need a place where people can put their food and drink down while standing and watching the game. They have this at Citizens Bank Park in Philly, and I think at Camden Yards also. The Sox can easily do this, and it would make the centerfield area even better. 2. The music was a little too much for my taste. There's something to be said for natural crowd noise, and for giving the fans a chance to think and actually have a conversation in between pitches. The Sox are certainly not alone in this, as it's a disturbing trend throughout all sports. Overall, I had a great time at the Cell. I thought it was going to be ruined when Marte blew the lead, but Timo made up for it with a thrilling walkoff base-hit. I look forward to going back the next time I'm in town, which I think will be mid August. Your idea #1 is awesome. Someone please send it to BOyer.....anyone have his address?

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 07:42 AM) I know you were being sarcastic but trust me I want to be at the game not at the f***in graduation, unfortunately my parents love this bulls***. Dude Games will come and go. Graduations are only so many. You should go to the graduation. Life is too short....enjoy your sucess. Congrats. What are you graduating with? And what do you plan to do with the degree?

5 bucks says aboz will be here telling us how the "Big Skirt" is a cancer and should be traded immediately :puke

I am still torn between El Duque and the Count Count has been very impressive in terms of opposing BA. El Duque obviously has been known to be clutch come playoff time. I might go with a game where Coutn pitches 4 innings, and El Duque pitches the next 4 innings....that way we avoid their one bad inning

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 05:51 AM) I'm going to miss this game because of my god damn stupid ass graduation that I wish I didn't have to go to. Hopefully Buehrle will do his thang and the Sox can get to 20 over. f***IN GRADUATION :puke You better not EVER complain about attendance since you are prioritizing your freaking graduation over a Sox game

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 04:38 AM) Pods would be facing a tough lefty and he could probably use a break anyways. Carl has surprisingly killed lefties so far this season. He also needs some time in the outfield with Frank back as our DH. Agreed 100%. Hell must have broken loose

QUOTE(Jabroni @ Jun 5, 2005 -> 04:22 AM) You worship the Cubs without knowing the facts. You must be the one breaking down. I do not worship the Cubs, dumbass. Appreciating good baseball/good baseball players is something you should learn. The Cubs have at least 5 players I would love to have right now on our team. Mark Prior - no explanation needed Derrick Lee - no explanation needed Aramis Ramirez - no explanation needed Jeremy Burnitz > Dead Neifi Perez > Uribe
