Another reason I don't get
How is this a "historic rivalry" when the Yankess (since 1900) have had as many playoff births (43 if you count '94) as the Cubs have had winning seasons? Or, if you don't like giving the Cubs credit for stuff they haven't done in most of our lifetimes, since 1950, the Yanks have had 27 playoff births (if you count '94 again), while the Cubs have had a blazing THIRTEEN WINNING SEASONS. Where's the "rivalry" and this "history" between these two teams I've been hearing about? Aren't the teams supposed to be at least relatively evenly matched for a "rivalry?" Hasn't one supposed to have beaten the other at some point in history (I don't think the Cubs have beaten them in interleague play before this weekend)??? (The Cubs got swept both times they met in the World Series) I don't get this.... Source: baseball-reference.com

Anybody like this deal?
I say renew him with his option at the $3.5 mil... isn't it a club option?

Anybody like this deal?
I don't think the Sox would pull the trigger on that one. I wouldn't give up a stud starter (or at least someone with that capability) for a couple of prospects that could turn out as good as Loaiza has been AT VERY BEST. If the deal were to be done, it'd be next season when Loaiza has no options on his contract.

What a Game!!
Ahh, how many times I've uttered those words this season....

AA and AAA boxes for last night
1) Yofu needs to go back to the 'pen. That's where he'll make a living hopefully later this year replacing Rick White. 2) Kohlmeier starting??? When'd this happen?

Game thoughts
And I'm up at 1:00 in the morning misinterpreting GB's... I understand what they are, but just completely miscorrolated GB's and games under .500....

Good news
My dad told me a kind of a cool story about that. He always had memories when he was little (8 or 9 or so) of watching his grandfather on TV right behind home plate of every single Cub game. He never knew how his grandfather got the tickets, but just knew they were his. Well a few (25) years went by, and his grandfather died. Then, at the funeral, who shows up other than Bob Kennedy, the former player for the Sox and Indians (among other teams) and later manager for the Cubs and A's. My dad, of course, being the baseball buff that he was at the time (still is, but doesn't follow nearly as closely) went up to him and asked him how Kennedy knew his grandfather. Lo and behold, it was Kennedy who had given his grandfather the tickets behind home plate every game for those summers he was the manager. His reason? He was approached by the Sox staff toward the end of the depression and was offered a pro contract, right as he had been accepted to college (can't remember where, but he would have been the first in his family to go to college, from what I understand). Everyone he asked said, "oh, you have to go to college. Get your education and get a job. That's what you need to do." Then he asked a family friend, grandpa Flannigan (my dad's grandfather). His exact words, "go for the pros! Are you kiddin' me? You can always go to college; you only get one shot at the pros!" He was the only person who ever told him that, and he was the only one Kennedy listened to. So, as I said again, f*** college. Sign with the Sox.

Frank's average slowly inching towards .300
I can see it like the "Edd-ie! Edd-ie!" chants in the '91 all star game at the old Chicago Stadium (the game for which Belfour, the hometown favorite who won the Vezina that year, I believe, was overlooked) when Bill Ranford was introduced to the audience.

Wood vs Clemens
Then he'll flip out on another reporter who suggests he isn't an important part of the team

Fuck Carlos Lee
Didn't he win the Class A equivalent of a Gold Glove at 3B earlier in his career??? Hell, move him to 1B. Never can have too many ball-fumbling 1Bmen out there.

Game thoughts
...so that means the Twins are 1 over??? Wow... this is a weaker division than I thought...

Choi Unconscious
Latest from Yahoo!: 1) His condition is now fair (formerly serious) 2) "I can tell you one thing. Heep Seop did ask how Woody was doing,'' Cubs trainer Dave Tumbas said without elaborating. In other words, he remembers colliding (unless they told him what happened), which is a good thing.

Good news
f*** college. You only got 1 shot at the pros. You can always go to school.

Like an Aaron Miles out on the field to spark things up....

Josh Stewart
That's news for me... thanks for the update, YAS.

Is the problem
Yes, I agree with that. But at the same time, when you have so many hitters struggling and failing to get the job done when it counts, the manager has to make adjustments in strategy, such as dropping bunts and hit-and-runs and double steals and such. so what i am getting getting from you guys is manuel is the problem. kw is not pulling the strings anymore so it has to fall on manuel. if this is the case then kw is vindicated on what he was doing. I'm not saying it's all manuel's fault, but Manuel definitely has done nothing to ease the pain.

Choi Unconscious
They normally (as you all are aware) just put him on the backboard just in case of a spinal injury.... Hopefully he'll be back in action soon, and hopefully he won't have any lasting ramifications (like messed up vision), because he's going to be one hell of a ballplayer.

Gagne is freakin awesome
I wouldn't complain either way if he's gonna pitch like that.

NORTON???!!!(try to sound like jackie gleason) I got it... As did I.... "Have you ever seen pictures from when I weighed 150 pounds?" "No, I haven't seen any baby pictures of you, Ralph!"
