Nobody wanted to believe it but you could see it coming if you follow them closely...they finally realized they could win again after last year's debacle, especially taking a bunch of tight 1-2 run games Pitching better than expected and now nearly everyone in the lineup is contributing something positive. -

Pollock wasn't even playing RF this time. Robert needs to communicate much better. This might break their backs if they get swept...until/unless we change managers. -

Robert and Pollock didn't communicate there well...sigh. Should have been Pollock's catch but he deferred. -

Plus no Buxton and Correa PH late...small ball. -
Royals in the process of somehow blowing a 6-0 lead in the 8th and 9th to the Twins...tied 6-6, runner on second in the top of 9 with two shots to take the lead for Minny. First homer in almost a week.

Just call him Mr. Tightrope recently. Didn't expect to get out of that situation...but the key was retiring Trevino before it got to LeMahieu. -
Josh Donaldson called Tim Anderson "Jackie"

It's not going to happen without the Yankees/Boone orchestrating it as a PR gesture to quell a rising firestorm. -

The White Sox fanbase has changed...or we just always have had blinders on for those next to us in the crowd cheering for the same team. It's one aspect of Reinsdorf's tenure that people can't quibble with...giving everyone opportunity regardless of race, religion or socio-economic background. -

LOL. Both sides. Two hot heads. Totally equivalent. If you a PoC this wouldn't be your position as someone on the receiving side of it. Now we're simply circling back to the "just shut up and play" argument that dates back to Kapaernick and LeBron. -

By this argument we will never have racism because only that individual knows what's really truly in their heart...we have actions, and consistent ones over time, but that's not proof, either. I'm sure Curt Schilling can pontificate for hours on the subject of what makes him not a racist but an cancel culture patriot. -

Every media personality has a schtick today...it's not about pure journalism anymore and really hasn't been that way since the 70s and 80s. And no I don't believe that even he believes half of what he asserts or claims. Interview Joe Posnanski on Whitlock and you will get to the truth if he is forthcoming. He's a standup guy and not so self righteous as Jeff Passan. He started with the Augusta Chronicle so he knows everything about racism and reverse racism from an outsider's perspective in the South. -

Whitlock makes Stephen A. Smith seem like the equivalent of a reasonable version of Jim Rome. He has been a complete bozo ever since his days with the KC Star in the late 90s. He courts controversy constantly, priding himself on going against the grain if it's anything to do with race and culture, kind of a mix of Bill Maher and Joe Rogan for sports fans to get all riled up by. -

Doesn't seem Anderson himself wants to take a position on any punishment warranted or not...just keep in mind in own past punishments from MLB, though. -

"Odd comments spark bases clearing brawl" was the headline at Yahoo Sports. Quickly switched to "Benches clear over 'racist' comment" “I think that’s very sad,” Dallas Keuchel said after hearing about Donaldson’s comment. “There’s no need, or room for that. Anywhere.” ..... “Believe me, you guys don’t want to hear what I told (Donaldson),” said Grandal. “We’re a family,” Anderson said. “We take care of each other. You know, it’s all love in our locker room. We don’t really deal with crazy things like that, we try to keep it away from our vibes and what we’ve got going on. But they stepped up and had my back, and showed how connected we really are.” Moving forward, Anderson said he wouldn’t petition the league to suspend Donaldson, or anything of that nature, even though he was handed a one-game suspension for a similar situation back in 2019. “That’s outside myー that’s got nothing to do with me,” Anderson said. “No, you’ll never sleep this off,” Anderson said. “It’s always going to be that.” https://www.nbcsports.com/chicago/white-sox/white-sox-josh-donaldson-directed-racist-comment-tim-anderson -

“They talked about it as a team, and [Grandal] tried to confront me,” Donaldson said. “I didn’t know what he was talking about at the beginning. I’m like, ‘What are you talking about?’ He’s like, ‘You know what you said.’ “I said, ‘Are you referring to me calling him Jackie?’ I thought that was a joke between him and I, because we’ve talked about it before. He’s called himself Jackie Robinson. That’s why I thought it was funny between us.” White Sox manager Tony La Russa said that Donaldson “made a racist comment, and that’s all I’m going to say.” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said that he had heard the White Sox were upset and planned to speak to his players about the situation, adding, “We’ve just got to stop the jawing back and forth.” Said Grandal: “This game went through a period of time where a lot of those comments were made, and I think we’re way past that. It’s just unacceptable. I thought it was a low blow, and I’m going to make sure I’ve got my team’s back. There’s no way you’re allowed to say something like that. It’s unacceptable.” https://www.mlb.com/news/white-sox-yankees-benches-clear-in-bronx -

The NBA and MLB have almost the exact opposite percentage splits, it might be something like 8% American born players that are Caucasian, at least relatively close. MLB 7-9% African American something like that. One argument there of course is about reverse racism, and societal tolerance for that. The other is you would essentially have to be making fun of (while still backwards complimenting in a way, as a grudging sign of respect) Tim Anderson by comparing him with a gritty white player like a David Eckstein or Darin Erstad, certainly NOT Jackie Robinson. In your example, it was a sign of respect for your play and scrappiness. In Donaldson's example, it was most certainly not meant as a compliment at all. He was saying you should know your place, don't act like you're all that, "too uppity."
