It’s like saying Carlos Santana was the best hitter on one or two of those Indians teams when he was leasing the league in walks. “Big time year” is also not the same as best hitter. That was not the point being argued, either. Gavin Sheets had a big time year for the Sox for his limited number of plate appearances. Moncada had more fWAR and nobody would have called him our best hitter last year…not by a long shot. He might be Moneyball’s best hitter, or Paul DePodesta’s, though.

Why in God's name would you trade him when he had limited value after 2018 and when you're just entering your contention window? I mean it wouldn't even be the equivalent of Soler for Wade Davis because you weren't even going to get that much back for him.

Singer isn't that good. Not one of the greatest drafts of all time that one.
