  1. Not sure why anyone was expecting much from either Engel or Vaughn offensively...so much of playoff baseball is timing and confidence.
  2. We are still more a collection of RH hitting talent/individuals than a cohesive team resembling what we had in 2005. Wonder if they will consider trading Moncada...which would be one of the few ways to even up the payroll down the line for Burger. No easy solutions or answers that don't involve spending a lot whereas we usually spend 50 cents on the dollar with just a few notable exceptions like Grandal and Robert. Then holding on to Abreu one year too long becomes yet another risk factor.
  3. At least Giolito is settling in...the idea of some of the Sox relievers being trustworthy with a one run game in this environment, not feeling quite so confident.
  4. If we had first half Lynn and the no hitter throwing version of Rodon...
  5. Yeah, always being the very first game of the day...what would it take to actually change that?
  6. Or 2000 first half White Sox...2006 as well. Ironic they thought Hernandez was going to be one of those guys with his career history being the polar opposite prior to this year.
  7. Hopefully he follows Tucker's development line...but lots of elite college players peak early or can't transition to bat change well enough. Sox simply can't afford to have any more development misses with low draft picks coming up.
  8. More double plays. If we get boatraced out of this series, we better never see Kimbrel or Cesar Hernandez again. Of course, you just know Hernandez will go to another AL Central team on a one year deal and haunt us for all of 2022. So Sox~like.
  9. Hopefully we don't look back in the future and recall this decade as JR trying to prove everyone wrong to the team's (and fans') ultimate detriment.
  10. Fastball dominant pitcher against Astros....only if it's the first half version.
  11. Wining the off season is getting to be like the mythical citywide attendance championship. Need to hang a real banner at some point or fans will get discouraged. Because this team is going to start getting more and more expensive to maintain. Hopefully the owner's son doesn't open the financial spirits in DETROIT after seven years now without a playoff team. Nevertheless, we should own the division for at least one more year, if not two.
  12. Wonder what that average was against .500+ teams, though.
  13. Well, this is going swimmingly. Starting to feel like a voyage on the Titanic at this point. It's no surprise that the lack of clean, crisp play comes back to bite you against experienced teams on the road in the playoffs.
  14. Game 3 last year, Field of Dreams for sentimentalists…Blackout Game because of our history with the Twins,
  15. Or the Dodgers with healthy Muncy and Bellinger...and Toronto the last 6 weeks. But yeah Myers and Maldonado the only chances to breathe a little easier.
  16. Hahn is most definitely not getting fired...even if they did manage to get swept. He's not even in the hot seat, as most are going to point fingers more at TLR.
  17. On the other hand, maybe the team is better off with a pissed off Keuchel in 2022. He has a lot to prove. Too much Jake Peavy talk this year without much to back it up, but lots of excuses.
  18. Just depends on how much you value Lopez's 2021 vs. Keuchel's 2020 up until his last game of the season.
  19. Would have been nice to add such a professional LH hitter, but we Eaton'ed it for half the price.
  20. What do you realistically expect for Vaughn? Certainly not the 2019 equivalent of Corbin Burnes. He's worth a lot more with a 25-30 homer season and .280 batting average.
  21. Sure, you just were shocked when they blew a lead from the 7th on. This team might certainly possess more talent on the offensive side, but the chemistry or cohesion isn't comparable with guys like Uribe and Buehrle. Most importantly, we had the hottest pitcher in baseball, whereas Lynn and Rodon have fallen off the pace.
  22. Not at 60-75 cents on the dollar. We already got underpaid on Madrigal and Heuer.
  23. Well, this is the last postseason they get to use the inexperienced card, regardless of the outcome. All things considered, it makes you appreciate 2005 even more. The Astros have the deeper lineup, and have already gone through everything any team can possibly face the last decade.
