Loiaza in 2003 was an accident. Getting F.Garcia and Contreras were going for the jugular.

If they can even make it that far. Not much of a vote of confidence in all the young pitchers contributing...

What make/model? Did you get a discount from the Sox adjacent scouting department...or zero interest financing at least?

Who was the last big "name" starting pitcher they added at a deadline prior to James Shields? (Yes, that was May 2016.) Francisco Liriano?

North-Westeros The only Castillo fan lol "I'll admit my bias. Yes he was traded for but he agreed to an extension here. He actually WANTED to be here, so because of that again, I understand, I'm biased. With that out of the way, tell me again about the MLB wanting a salary cap to make things fair? Because last year, the most Googled team in baseball, which drew great ratings and revenue, just dumped the pitcher that basically kept your unit together through injuries LAST year, for all that and a bag of chips."

LOOKOUT LANDING Bret Boones Nutritionist 11m (edited) I give it a T for ”Thank you for your service Luis” really enjoyed watching him pitch for us from 2022-24, but it was already starting to be a watch-through-your-fingers experience last year. I hadn’t expected another team to be willing to take all of his remaining salary; on top of that Dominguez can hopefully still be a decent reliever and we got a couple other players too. Hard to be too mad about this. 1Reply Share G Gonzo 4 Haniger 13m Assuming there's nothing else in play here, this is an A for me. I was fully prepared for them to part with a semi-noteworthy prospect to get someone to take his contract. Frankly I'm pretty floored right now. 0Reply Share D Dominic Snyder 15m (edited) First, I love Luis and I will miss him. When we traded for him, it was the sign we were starting to go in on building a ball club for a new era of contention. He had a fantastic rest of that season and was solid each of the next few years. When he was on, he was fun to watch and carried a cool-headed confidence that I admire. We rode him about as far as we could. This is the first year it just really wasn’t working. I have been dreading having his contract hanging around our necks next season considering where he’s at. The fact the Sox are taking on all of that money is a huge win for us already. Taking on Seranthony Domínguez’s money for this and next year offsets that a little, but it still frees up a bunch. Nolan Jones is a warm body outfielder. Boston Smith is actually a sleeper prospect that I’m astounded we got included in the deal. This is his first year of pro ball, and he’s done nothing but crush in the minors. He’s not ranked that highly, and he’s already 23, but he’s a "catcher" who has been mashing and walking constantly. 2Reply Share Suburban Shocker 23m If it means they're going to reinvest the money they save on Castillo? That gets an A. I'll reserve judgment until then. 1Reply Share B BP82titan 25m (edited) Suppose this saves us from trading Hancock who has a lot of control at much lower cost, so that should factor into the grade. Saving Luis’s $$$ could be big for alternate use next year or perhaps still here at this deadline to re-allocate. (They also get to insert Logan Evans/Logan Gilbert and Kade Anderson/Sloan piggybacks into the rotation.)

6. The White SoxThey are trying to become the first team ever to make the postseason after three straight 100-loss seasons. Chicago has a dynamic offensive team, but by now it’s obvious the Sox need pitching and experience. I would target a veteran catcher, even after they are taking a flier on Eric Haase. The White Sox’ offense and ABS decision making from behind the plate have been awful.

Boston Smith = Tatis, Jr.? Dominguez really was pitching well in recent days from outside of the closer's role. At least Castillo should give them innings.

He hasn't really pitched all that well recently, even in an offense suppressing home field environment... Compared to let's say Rogers with Baltimore. Boston Smith hypesters definitely won't like it.

looked like Lewis couldn't throw around Rodriguez in the baseline and by then it was too late

Ohtani...and Alvarez. Can't defeat the greatest player in modern baseball history with a sub 2 ERA as a pitcher and also two time defending WS champion.

It would be far funnier if he did that on the Cubs' boards...even if it meant a Yankee win.

Dominguez back to his natural role but can't score even one run. Dome baseball sucks. Unless you're winning. Sox also just signed Cleavinger's brother udfa after the draft was over.
