  1. Well, 90-95% are positive about Carlos Rodriguez, at least. Maybe it's a carry over effect from winning the #1 pick. Most popular, least questioned Sox decision in quite some time. Just wondering why it didn't happen 2+ years ago.
  2. Bloomberg) -- TikTok’s long-delayed plan to separate from Chinese parent ByteDance Ltd. was put in motion Thursday when the video sharing sensation said it’s being bought by a group of buyers led by Oracle Corp. TikTok Chief Executive Officer Shou Chew told employees that the company and ByteDance signed binding agreements to create a US joint venture majority-owned by American investors, according to an internal memo reviewed by Bloomberg. Chew wrote that he was “pleased to share some great news” and said agreements with Oracle, Silver Lake and MGX have been signed. The deal is expected to close on Jan. 22, 2026, though Chew added that “there’s more work to be done” before then. yahoo finance.com Silver Lake PE also owns approximately 45 minor league baseball teams..... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Lake_(investment_firm) You can see the full list of their investments here.
  3. Except the Dodgers. And they almost ran out of reliable high-leverage relievers in the post season.
  4. Not with how he performed last year. At least in the $18-20 million range. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/12/john-means-suffers-achilles-rupture.html Cross another starting candidate off the list.
  5. No, I think he's going to get $2/20 or better. Probably $22-25 million at this point.
  6. Over $11 million? Carlos Rodriguez messed up, big time.. (Just joshing.) You know when the poorest team payroll-wise in MLB is already bidding $14-16 million he's going to get paid more than that...
  7. Would still rather watch than Hill. Canadian Charlie Tilson.
  8. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2025/12/cardinals-still-interested-in-rotation-addition.html Cardinals for now seem more determined to put together their semi-competitive rotation...
  9. What happened to the steady drumbeat of Murakami hype? Only 4 days away and counting.
  10. https://www.draysbay.com/2023/3/9/23633373/2023-draysbay-community-prospect-list-no-30 Peters was the 29th rated Rays' prospect three years ago lol. Meadiocre #1. Just ahead of Chandler Simpson and old friend utility guy Tristan Gray.
  11. SD needs 2-3 starters. Maybe more, if they actually trade Pivetta to fill a hole somewhere else. Even trading Pivetta OR MMiller and Laureano to the Mets gets them a young starter, but definitely not McLean....Sproat or Teng and young hitting prospect/s. Preller has likely reached the end of his creativity rope this time around.
  12. He's already in his mid 30's though...the number of guys who just suddenly take off at the big league level at that point can be counted on one hand.
  13. The majority of their big contracts now have deferred money...it's at least creative. It's also the smartest way to operate (especially for teams with current cash crunches like the Twins, Marlins or Cincy) until it's disallowed or the numbers on current year payroll are much more punitive than $46 million vs. $70 million for each Ohtani contract year.
  14. Sure, just like Theo Epstein until he got bored with the job and needed something bigger in scope. I guess?
  15. Going to bed. You guys can continue to argue Murakami, Getz vs. Rays' Way and Okamoto. Throw in some Michael Conforto debate for good measure.
  16. Maybe bigger font will accentuate the point even more? If only it would make it come true. Let's beat the Twins for fourth before worrying about juggernauts and possible dynasties. It has only been six years since the last budding dynasty.
  17. Except you won't get both. Small market teams pretty much have to hit on those comp.round picks to come close to competing.
  18. Modern baseball technology and players' evolving needs basically forced the tech adoption on the team...instead of the other way around.
  19. "That leaves precious few high-end relievers available for teams like the Yankees, Cubs, and Marlins to pursue. Pete Fairbanks and Seranthony Dominguez are among the best options remaining on the market at this point, with hurlers like Shawn Armstrong and Pierce Johnson sitting a tier below those two." mlbtraderumors.com
  20. No no no. This was 2022 or maybe even early 2023. You could ask James Fegan about it, I guess. Sheets wasn't together with Burger in Central Illinois and Missouri at that time. He's from the Baltimore area due to his father. "There might be another reason for Sheets’ anger, though. It has to do with Burger, his friend, and the White Sox top pick in the 2017 MLB Draft, with Sheets selected in the second round. “I’ve seen it a couple of times, especially today I was late for our I-pitch session,” said Burger with a laugh when asked if he ever has viewed Sheets as angry as he was Wednesday. “He got on me a little bit. Maybe that anger spilled out onto the field, I’m not sure.” Early 2023
  21. Sitting out 2020 was the beginning of the end.
  22. "Could be"...the key words there. Should be...definitely. You can't be so risk averse after Benintendi and Robert that you never offer a long term contract again...because it might go wrong. It might also work out spectacularly.
  23. After last season...Kopech is a viable closer in the same way Dillon Gabriel or Justin Fields is a starting NFL QB. He has to prove he can stay healthy first. Same with Grant Taylor, for that matter. Btw, that "moving on" lesson seems to apply to about 30 former Sox players lol. Well, except Clevinger I guess.
