  1. If he's posted well before December 1st. Two schools of thought are big market teams will rush out to make deals that they believe will be grandfathered into the new agreement...the othbefore smaller market teams will wait for the new landscape to emerge before making any considerable financial commitments. That said, Skubal and Sato are the only two slated to get over $100+ million FA deals. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=sato--000ter OPS numbers skyrocketing up by the year...
  2. White Sox making it into every article these days lol "The league’s proposal, if accepted, would reportedly go into effect beginning in 2027. It reportedly includes a salary floor of $171.2 million, meaning teams such as the Athletics, Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Guardians and Miami Marlins, among others, would have to drastically increase payroll ahead of next season. The proposed salary cap is reportedly $245.3 million, meaning teams such as the Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Mets and New York Yankees, among others, would have to cut payroll ahead of next year. The league’s proposal also reportedly includes a 50-50 revenue split between the league and its players, per Rogers, who reported that the salary cap would increase in future years based on league revenue." yahoo sports
  3. If you go by non Charlotte numbers, he's around a 750-760 ops? If you look at his entire career up until now ... can imagine him hitting with favorable pitching match ups at DH, but to play in the field means moving Meidroth or Colson. But really it's him versus Chase, as he's a below average big league SS defensively, has no OF experience and just 18 milk games at 3B.
  4. Needs to figure out a way to lift that ball....well, it was a fun story while it lasted.
  5. Definitely not the White Sox acquiring Yordan Alvarez...
  6. The opposite. White Sox are such favorites it looks like a sucker bet as Martin's probably due for a clunker. And Mune can't keep this up forever, either.
  7. When it comes to divisional games, the Tigers will still have their pride and fight for their season. And the Sox are not much more than 6-7 weeks removed from the team being considered an automatic cakewalk on the schedule for most teams. That underdog/US against the world thing they have going for them is part of the reason for their success...just like it is with MIL TB CLE.
  8. Not seeing any possibility he fits in LA with a reinvigorated Muncy, Tucker in RF and Freeman Ohtani Betts taking up all the 1B/DH at bats as they age. Pretty sure Freeman is signed through either 2027 or 28 (option?)
  9. Rick Hahn was also like Teflon to any board criticism until Tatis broke out...eventually, he was the exact opposite of revered and no defenders were left standing for him, Jeremy Haber or Hostetler.
  10. Even if they're 8-10 games under .500 for this stretch...the season would likely still be considered successful. But nobody KNEW Martin and Vargas would be where they are as of today. Colson and Mune were 50/50 bets at least. Nobody knew they could survive without Teel for 2-3 months either, with Quero actually one of the worst players on the team, along with the more predictably challenged Acuna. Nobody knew Peters would be a 2-3 fWAR CFer. That Sandlin and not Hagen or McDougal would be contributing. That they would play over the losses of Vasil Teel Hays Shane Smith Pereira, etc. The worst bullpen ERA ... etc. This .500 or better record is just as improbable as 41-121 in many ways. If they're still over .500 into July when Cholowsky or Lackey is selected 1-1, you'd have yourself quite the story....just like 1977/83/1990/2000.
  11. 5.8% Central 11.8% WC 0.2% WS only Royals 11.2% and Angels with lower odds still
  12. The only thing that goes against the Braves is corporate ownership, like Toronto...but certainly that's only adding to the efficiency of profit taking exploitation-ability. "The service time needed for free agency, which is currently six years, would drop to five years for players at least 30 years old. However, teams could keep such players for a sixth year by offering them a contract with a salary that averages out the 125 highest-paid players in the league, which is the same calculus for the current qualifying offer. (Passan relayed those details in a subsequent post.)" Also raising minimum salary by almost double....revenue sharing etc. Owners' response tomorrow? MLB Trade RumorsMLBPA Releases Details Of Collective Bargaining ProposalThe formal talks have begun.
  13. Equal votes for Martin and Montgomery.
  14. Well if Sandlin somehow pitcher like this for 19 more starts, he will be Mark Fidrych/Fernando/Hideo Nomo/Dwight Gooden all rolled into one.
  15. Soroka? Keller? Who else is left? Braden? Gonzalez? Clearly multiple relievers. Shane Smith, maybe McDougal depending on health.
  16. Sounds like the Booser Fajardo deal royals review.com On February 17, 2024, the Kansas City Royals traded pitching prospect David Sandlin to the Boston Red Sox in exchange for relief pitcher John Schreiber. Sandlin, who turned 23 in the intervening time between the trade and this piece, had pitched well in 12 A-ball starts last year and was a potential breakout candidate. Schreiber, who turns 30 in March, is an established bullpen arm who is under team control for three more years. The trade itself was totally reasonable. Relief pitchers aren’t the most valuable thing on the market, and Schreiber is solid moreso than elite. Likewise, Sandlin is a decent but flawed prospect. There’s a world in which he ends up as a legit MLB starter, sure. But there are way more worlds in which he never makes it to the big leagues. ***The website Baseball Trade Values doesn’t have the final word, but the trade was accepted by their model (and actually dubbed it an overpay by Boston). At the end of the day, this is a low-impact trade for both clubs.***
  17. That nickname only works when under a 3.50 ERA lol. Since Alec Hansen never made it, here's hoping this former OU Sooner/Royal does.
  18. Would any fanbase in mlb just quietly acquiesce to 2023-24-25? Rockies’ fans, maybe? That might be the only totally forgiving fanbase that will support their team no matter what ownership does. Chicago Bulls’ fans, too.
  19. Munetaka Murakami's jersey is outselling all other White Sox players combined...source: NY Times May 6 via The Athletic.com guessing Colson is #2...
  20. Soroka at $7.5 million for 1.3 fWAR also one of the best off-season moves so far. Doubt he’s selling any jerseys, though. Going to be fascinating to see where Mune lands when this is updated for April and May 1. Shohei Ohtani: Dodgers 2. Yoshinobu Yamamoto: Dodgers 3. Aaron Judge: Yankees 4. Cal Raleigh: Mariners That one must be in free fall 5. Mookie Betts: Dodgers 6. Nolan Arenado: Diamondbacks what?? 7. Freddie Freeman: Dodgers 8. Pete Alonso: Orioles 9. Roman Anthony: Red Sox 10. Christian Yelich: Brewers No Julio Rodriguez or Tatis Jr., either Miz on Brewers should be here Konnor Griffin?
  21. Thought it was going to be criticizing Craig Breslow for trading Harrison AND Sandlin away…at this point, I might actually prefer Getz with this coaching staff AND the three Assistant GM’s. Breslow is terrible communicating with players and the press…he only speaks the same profit first-driven language as John Henry.
  22. Not sure if accessible without providing email Talk SoxExclusive Red Sox Interview: David Sandlin Reflects On Tr...“I was just going to church with my fiancé and my parents. Was on the way home from lunch and saw [Craig] Breslow’s name pop up on the screen,” David Sandlin explained in regard to the day he was trad
