  1. Except Nishida will never put up 6+ fWAR in RF and be traded for today's equivalent of Giolito Lopez Dunning.
  2. Probably the toughest game in the series, with Davis Martin scheduled for tomorrow. White Sox winners of 8 of last 11 at home, and three in a row....including 7 consecutive over the Twins. Part of that was a four game sweep at Minnesota after the trade deadline. 51-23 RS RA during that seven game stretch. Minnesota the betting favorite today due to Joe Ryan. Sox 23rd in attendance, ahead of CLE MIN KC PIT, etc. On pace for 1.65-1.80 million depending on how the rest of the season goes in terms of the playoff and WC races. https://www.espn.com/mlb/attendance Cubs down to 11th here. That means the White Sox sold an average of 17,848 tickets per home game last year. They're currently at over 20k fans per game already in 2026. 1,445,750 tickets sold was an increase of 65,000 from the attendance in 2024 (1,380,733) when the Sox set the record from the most losses in a single season.

  4. Brother on Cincy, right? Not the McLean/NYM spelling...
  5. Maybe the one number in mlb that hasn't inflated in the past thirty years or so...
  6. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Class_A_Short_Season The biggest impacts are being seen in those communities that lost A and short season teams over the last 15 years or so, as well as the increasing takeover of minor league baseball by private equity groups such as Diamond Baseball Holdings.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diamond_Baseball_Holdings Not to mention the increasing drive/desire to push more and more of the talent development responsibilities onto the NCAA/NIL for profit system and away from scouts/coaching staffs/and the mlb teams themselves. Part of this about increasing profitability, with Covid 19 as the driving force behind restructuring. https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/30486689/mlb-120-farm-teams-40-cities-dropped-affiliates Going back to when I worked for Augusta in the 90s, the Pirates had the Erie Seawolves in the NY-Penn League as well as a team in Windsor/Ontario. Then there was the Pioneer League (Indy mixed with some affiliated kids) as well as the Appalachian League, where the White Sox had a team in Bristol for many many years, for example. But most teams had at least 2-3 different places to park mid summer draftees as well as those mostly 18-21 year old kids moving from the complex leagues in AZ FL and especially the Dominican. Pretty sure there were once 168 different teams at one point, and now it's all the way down to 120 (4*30).
  7. What a 29-2 score says about the state of low-level minor-league baseball — and why MLB fans should careThe complex leagues are a vital part of the sport's talent pipeline, yet experts agree that the quality of play on has reached an all-time low. https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/what-a-29-2-score-says-about-the-state-of-low-level-minor-league-baseball--and-why-mlb-fans-should-care-222056306.html The fear among industry insiders is that the continued decline of low-level ball will lead to MLB feeling empowered to contract the minor leagues even further when the current minor-league CBA expires after the 2027 season. There’s a growing sense that the league would prefer to effectively outsource aspects of the development process to top college programs. Why spend money, the thinking goes, to make players better when Clemson and Mississippi State will do it for you? But besides eliminating affiliated baseball from 30 more minor-league towns, such a cost-cutting measure would lead to a further reduction of team employees, particularly on the scouting side. In recent years, multiple teams have slashed their pro scouting departments, relying on video and data to evaluate minor leaguers. Some clubs, such as the Dodgers, Rays and Royals, still run substantial scouting apparatuses. Unlike other owners, theirs believe it's well worth the cost. At the end of the day, that’s what this entire discussion is about: money. Fewer levels, fewer players, fewer employees — that’s all more cost effective for the billionaires running these organizations. But it’s a short-term gain for a potential long-term loss, one that could damage the fabric of the sport at the big-league level. While the ACL Giants’ 29-2 blowout will likely fade into the dustbin of baseball history, its causes will live on and grow stronger. It might not happen soon, but eventually, something will have to give.
  8. Alexei Ramirez? Jose Contreras? Can we partially count Rodon? Viciedo? El Duque? Minoso?
  9. Hays has the bigger contract...they won't move him until/unless they've already given up on his health this year. There's also Pereira lingering out there, but seemingly not close to a return yet due to setbacks.
  10. Still the average AL DH has to be around 750-775 this year, yes? It would be better to have Burger there out hitting Benintendi and use the $10 million left over reinforcing the rotation. Plus Burger is much easier to root for. Everyone has their favorites like Antonacci Teel Meidroth Nishida etc. Nobody says Benintendi is one of their favorites unless they are Red Sox fans thinking it's still a decade prior.
  11. Someone is not paying close enough attention (GS) to their lack of middle relief options available internally right now. Hopefully he can take advantage of the new opportunity with Sox. If they were that high on Peoples or whoever, they would probably be up right now already.
  12. Might end up trading deGrom, but AL West/WC way too close now to entertain that for now.
  13. Gonzalez can only play 2B and a passable SS. Maybe limited third. We already have three 2B on roster...two will be capably deployed in the OF. 737 road ops in AAA for Jacob won't get Benintendi waived.
  14. https://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/white-sox-prospect-rikuu-nishida-dazzles-with-outfield-assist-draws-multiple-standing-ovations-as-chicago-debuts-another-impressive-rookie-205121354.html
  15. Sox are moving either Montgomery Cholowsky or Carlson ultimately as well. Teel would be the one to move or be traded for pitching. Maybe he ends up in/at LF DH 1B secondary catcher.
  16. GRF is not a pitcher's park in the summer...quite clearly.
  17. Looked much better in WBC than Bazzana.
  18. Burger salary? $3.2 million. Burger when he gets streaky hot will get up to 825-850...AB can't do that.
  19. Would two or three Sox coaches cry if Gonzalez was brought up? That was Schriff's Nishida claim.
  20. Like Luis Robert when he got very tentative coming up against the wall one year. Jim Edmonds makes those plays in his sleep.
  21. Meidroth Bobblehead part of it...second place/Mune and very nice weather
  22. Georgia Tech and Georgia are both hosting NCAA tournament regionals, with the second-seeded Yellow Jackets opening against the University of Illinois Chicago (nice local touch!) and the Bulldogs taking on the Long Island Sharks. Each regional field features four teams, playing in a double-elimination format. All 16 regionals are scheduled to be conducted from Friday, May 29 to Monday, June 1. Georgia Tech (48-9) will play noon Friday against Illinois-Chicago (27-27-1). The Citadel (35-24) and Oklahoma (32-21) are also playing in the Atlanta Regional and will face off at 5 p.m. Friday.
  23. miss Keith Foulke through 2012 Sox closers Jenks was tough to watch too the latter half of his career Jesus Colome similar tight rope act
