No, I said giving extensions to young 1B who don’t project to be top 3-5 (let’s try 2019 Pete Alonso instead) 1B in the majors offensively and are average to below average defenders shouldn’t be prioritized in early extensions. Now if he’s something like 8-12, then you’re going to have interesting arguments both ways. Mariners already getting criticized with their deal for 1B White, who might be 18-22ish if he’s lucky. -

Still, LaRussa is acting like 2015 Yordano Ventura is the opposing pitcher...I mean, c’mon. Also, unfortunate we just missed LHP Marco Gonzalez in Seattle...Minnesota is beating him up now, instead. -

If you firmly believe in Vaughn’s bat, and draft him where they did, Williams doesn’t play more than once every 2-3 weeks. -

And we thought Ozzie’s infamous Sunday lineups when positioned for a sweep were bad...but it definitely paid off for playoff caliber teams. Whether we are there or mot remains to be seen. But it’s still idiotic to draft a 1B who’s the best hitter in college baseball then sit him for a AAAA journeyman who’s not close to part of the future of this franchise. Just because a terrible pitcher who happens to be RH is on the mound. -

Meaning a RHP vs. LHB, lol...can’t wait for this platoon. Next act, we will all be jumping on Williams’ poor defense as well. -

It was about our not being sure that Vaughn was going to be THAT generational (Pujols-esque) hitter at first base good. Not Abreu. Otherwise, Vaughn extension isn’t the biggest issue in the world. -

This comp was brought up repeatedly. All we’re missing are additional comparisons to McEwing and Jose Oquendo. -

Yes, I clearly remember everyone clamoring for a three year extension, lol. The primary reason he was being kept to most was for influencing Moncada/Robert and sustaining the so-called Cuban Connection, not because he was expected to put up MVP numbers. If Hahn is so great at these projections, he should have signed Nelson Cruz or traded for JD Martinez. Heck, why not fault him for seemingly not realizing Yermin was on the 40 man roster for how many years now? Why didn’t he trade for Jonathan Gray...for example. -
“President Joe Biden, well on his way to reaching a new goal of vaccinating 200 million Americans by the end of April, is taking initial steps toward helping other nations ramp up shots, including by boosting global manufacturing and appointing a top global health expert who previously advocated for shipping vaccines from the United States' surplus abroad. Diplomats view the developments as a sign Biden is moving toward sharing some of the hundreds of millions of doses the United States will have left over once every American is vaccinated. But the President remains wary of sending vaccines overseas before people in the United States have access, and administration health experts continue to caution that extra doses may be needed as the virus mutates and the pandemic persists.” https://edition.cnn.com/2021/04/06/politics/vaccine-diplomacy-joe-biden-administration/index.html

Multiply that subsidy by a factor of 5-10x in China. Misspending or misallocation of resources into state operated enterprises and unnecessary public infrastructure just to boost GDP growth instead of small and medium sized enterprises.

Well, sure...there’s already x amount of risk or volatility associated with the Jimenez, Moncada and Robert deals. In the overall scheme of things, non elite (meaning Top 3-5 in the game) 1B with average defensive skills don’t rate high on the priority scale. -

Sure, but every SS (see Correa, Seager, Story) in the world is now looking carefully at the Lindor and Tatis deals...simply no ignoring those eye-popping contract numbers. Anderson’s arguably one of the ten to fifteen most marketable young players in the game. -
To be more precise, she has a Ukrainian face. And naturally women gain weight in their 30’s. But I guess we expect all men to live up to the same fitness standards in their middle age. The reality is she has a people-pleasing, relatable personality, but you can see that all the attention on her curves has equally frustrated and helped launch a career simultaneously. Impossible (so far) for her to move beyond that objectification and translate it into a serious acting career. Always a double edged sword for women.

The problem with that strategy is you end up like the Cubs are having to trade or eat Bryant, Baez and Rizzo deals with nothing but draft picks in return...or demoralize your fanbase further by dumping them in your last competitive season. They might win the battle with Vaughn, but still lose the war as they watch Giolito and TA depart...and don’t have enough payroll space to keep a contending team on the field. -

Cubs’ fan with the brain fart. http://www.thebaseballcube.com/players/profile.asp?ID=170913 Lo and behold, it is his first given name. Maybe his dad was a fan of the Cubbies, lol. Or he’s changing his name, like Mike Stanton. A bit odd for a Sox player in this city, but oh well. Ernie or Ron should be the next recalled player, or Lou for Brock to mess with fans of the Northsiders. -

For who? All 3-4 of the remaining minor league pitching depth below AA? -
Good excuse to keep him away from the starting lineup.

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/04/06/health/covid-neurological-psychological-lancet-wellness/index.html Such as this “brain fog” aftereffect. Honestly wonder how many of those calling for “free will” know someone in their family who has been affected or not...despite all the anecdotal evidence about people under 40 requiring lung transplants. Just look at Moncada and Eduardo Rodriguez, two world class athletes in their primes.

Otoh, how many countries consistently have leaders in their 30’s or 40’s? Good Judgment is a result of experience, and experience the result of bad judgment.
