Rope is pushing it...but it's just nice to see him making contact in general.
-
It's like they're facing Parque...which is appropriate since Mike Cameron/Mariners.
-
I knew they were going to have to get to this guy at SOME point. Thank god. Maybe that will get Robert started this year.
-
Well, that means it's a trade the White Sox would typically consider making...saving money and sending prospects back the other way. We'd probably send some international bonus money along to Texas again, too.
-
With Madrigal, it has to be mental/psychological at this point. He's nothing like the player he was his last two seasons at OSU.
-
Notice the Yankees are spending more money adding Odor very quickly this season...not sure how much $$$ the Rangers are sending with him.
-
Nice basket catch by Moncada. Lucas going through the dreaded "dead arm" period out of spring training? Last start, his stuff looked much crisper, especially the FB.
-
The difference is the Padres have the equivalent of two Adam Eatons to replace every spot on their roster. Whereas we have to play someone terribly out of position. Obviously Engel and Garcia to a lesser extent can handle their outfield assignments, but neither are everyday players.
-
What did Vaughn do tonight? I noticed there are no errors in the box score... I guess the Haniger and France balls last inning?
-
More troubles with RISP. This guy is garbage.
-
FINALLY. Congrats to Andrew Vaughn.
-
Former Padres' pitcher who can hardly break glass. They SHOULD kill him the second time around the line-up. In theory.
-
Giolito starting out this game in the 93-94 mph range.
-
France, Trammell and Torrens all former Padres, fwiw. France had his moments (certainly on the offensive side) but really didn't have a clear future position, just like Josh Naylor, who was traded to the Indians. Trammell, the top Reds' prospect with all the physical tools in the world but a very questionable hit tool.

Just let Robert go back to being aggressive earlier in the count...now it seems he's thinking too much again and he's probably identifying more with the second thirty games of his debut. Has an OPS under 600, granted, that changes dramatically the first couple of weeks of the season. It's hard to criticize the White Sox for not signing Paxton or T.Walker from the left-hand side if Rodon's going to keep this up...of course, the odds of that are...?

What about FUBARtv? That sounds like something from Japan, lol...how many subscribers can they possibly have?

https://www.mlb.com/gameday/blue-jays-vs-rangers/2021/04/06/634635#game_state=live,game_tab=,game=634635 Dunning off to a really strong start against a very tough Jays' line-up tonight so far.

https://www.gaslampball.com/2021/4/6/22370929/jayce-tingler-has-plenty-of-options-to-replace-fernando-tatis-jr-for That's not including Profar (who had his own arm/shoulder injury in the past) and CJ Abrams, who's still seen as ideally suited for the middle infield or CF depending on what happens with Tatis, Jr. That's a lot of depth/roster flexibility.

Sounds like Brian Anderson’s scouting report...thankfully, Robert seems to have a lot more dedication to the game and to his teammates.

•••••••••••••• SHARE THIS SWEEPSTAKES •••••••••••••• "Of all the baseball stadiums in the world, I like being in Jingu Stadium the best of all. In an infield seat behind first base, or in the right-field bleachers. I love all the sounds, the smells, the way I can sit there, just gazing up at the sky. I love the breeze caressing my skin, I love sipping an ice-cold beer, observing the people around me. Whether the team wins or loses, I love the time spent there most of all. Of course, winning is much better than losing. No argument there. But winning or losing doesn’t affect the weight and value of the time. It’s the same time, either way. A minute is a minute, an hour is an hour. We need to cherish it. We need to deftly reconcile ourselves with time, and leave behind as many precious memories as we can— that’s what’s the most valuable." —From "The Yakult Swallows Poetry Collection," a short story from FIRST PERSON SINGULAR

Those in Michigan right now might not agree...especially about it not impacting younger people.
-
It’s like the Yankees with Andujar, Voit, Bruce, Tauchman, Sanchez, Gardner, etc.
-
Another question is whether he can barrel up those 97+ fastballs when’s he is looking for them? 93-94 mph is one thing...but it’s going to be about getting ahead in counts, attacking hittable pitches early, and identifying balls off the plate (especially sliders low and away) and laying off of them. It’s not atypical of young Latin American hitters...hell, most young hitters struggle here, it’s the difference between superstar and occasional All-Star. This team doesn’t go anywhere with Moncada and Robert as moderate, sub 800 ops hitters...especially Moncada.

“Tatis was feeling better after it was put back in the socket and will undergo an MRI today to see the extent of the damage. Dr. David Chao, an orthopedic surgeon who was the Chargers’ doctor for nearly 20 years and who I have worked with extensively, correctly identified the injury almost immediately after it happened and also believes Tatis has a labral tear that will eventually require arthroscopic surgery. Chao talks about it in this video. I’ve worked closely with Chao. He doesn’t speak on an injury unless he is virtually certain. Even if Tatis is able to put off surgery, this could be an ongoing issue until he does get it fixed. When a shoulder injury like this recurs frequently that means it is getting easier for it to dislocate. Remember, it was just two weeks ago that Tatis left a spring training game after reaching across his body to backhand a ground ball. If he does get surgery, it will end his season.” Kevin Acee SD Union Tribune https://www.outkick.com/david-chao-md-shoulder-surgery-for-fernando-tatis-jr-a-matter-of-when-not-if/ Looks like he will be moved to CF next year...and, just like the White Sox with Vaughn, could be seeing Abrams one year early if Profar and Kim can’t handle SS. Also, in this way, they don’t have to rush Gore, Lamet or Clevinger. They’ll try for the wild card, but won’t mortgage the future to win this year.
