98.4 his best FB of the night... But 43 pitches to cover just 2 1/3.
-
Now we're managing to make JP Crawford look good, somehow.
-
Ichiro at 45ish would be better. Maybe Minoso.
-
He can use them well enough in his reggaeton videos.
-
Sounds like Luis Robert for most of September...hopefully he can get a base hit against one of these lesser teams and start to build some confidence. The bottom of the White Sox line-up is looking like the days of Mark Johnson and Royce Clayton, unfortunately. PS: Looks like Gonzaga is going to be fighting all night to get their NC game below a margin of 8-10.

The Game Threads are almost more predictable than the White Sox themselves. Anderson still out this series and hopefully back Thursday/Saturday at home against KC?
-
Another ball pulled on the ground from Leury...shocker.
-
3 pitches there from Rodon at 97+. Where's Cooper with his 92-93, pitch to contact approach? In the end, it didn't save Sale, but it could have averted the inevitable TJ surgery long enough for him to get his World Series title.
-
Prediction, other than Giolito starts, the average time of White Sox games will be approximately 3 hours and 40 minutes this season...and the bullpen will be destroyed/eviscerated/pick your adjective by mid-July. Hope Burdi figures out things down in the minors, Burr, Stiever, Tyler Johnson, Cade McClure, etc. Going to need Lopez (gasp) as well.
-
Rodon already at 20+ pitches in the first inning and climbing. One of his numerous issues that really hasn't changed much from the moment he was drafted. Guess we focused on the wrong player there, Trea Turner has been much more valuable. That said, look at what has happened with Aiken and Kolek, not to mention Schwarber.

Mitch Haniger is exactly the kind of player we need right now to plug the hole in the dam. Unfortunately, we'd have to trade Vaughn (and they already extended White), so it would be Vaughn for DH. And our troubles with RISP continue as well move up the coast.

Tim Anderson to 10 day IL, retroactive to April 5
caulfield12 replied to Balta1701's topic in Pale Hose Talk
We spent the last three years developing pretty much ZERO outfielders at the minor league level. Hence, having to spend the money on Eaton, and no depth beyond Leury/Eaton. Started out with 5-6, ended up with pretty much zero. We'll have Cespedes and Colas, but who knows what impact they can make it in 2022 and 2023. At that point, we have to hope and pray that one of Cease/Kopech/Crochet will be the ace to replace Giolito. -

Agreed. I think the only way around this (PTAC and Texsox seem to have their own unique strategies) is to adopt an NL team. When I lived in Kansas City for a decade, I took to cheering for them just because they were the underdog and so inept they'd gone for 30 years or so since a playoff team, and it was fun to blame the Evil Empire of the NY Yankees for all the troubles with the Royals. In 2013-15, it was rewarding (as a former resident) to see the (remember Hawk lavishing praise back then?) rebuild come together and a team built on speed and contact and lockdown bullpens changing the face of the sport in front of one's eyes. So cheering for them (it was those great 1980's Cardinals' teams growing up), for Yasiel Puig, now for the Padres, at least I can experience the full width and breadth of players in baseball and enjoy the game being played well. That doesn't mean I didn't suffer through the full length of all four of those games in LA this past weekend. Sox fans can never quit their team, no matter how hard they try. I do get jealous sometimes of my friends who can easily convert to a University of Alabama fan, or a Yankees' fan, but I just don't have it in me. That's part of the fun when you are stuck cheering for a college sports team that barely has a 1-2% chance of ever getting into a National Championship game or then the whole White Sox odyssey since the early 1970's. That being said, I am still glad my favorite uncle of my mom's side was a union man/blue collar guy and White Sox and not Cubs fan like my other uncle. That unique perspective on life has made an appreciable difference, lol. -
Was expecting a Fathom reaction tonight. On the plus side, a Cubs' run this makes it incredibly difficult to sell Marquee if if if they gut their team while still competing. Tough position to be in with Bryant, Baez and Rizzo.

Twins/White Sox in similar positions...

Who would have predicted that someone like Matt Moore would be quite useful? Well, scouts in Japan/Korea, I guess. Folty had 7 strikeouts for the Rangers (another reported Sox target), so it's possible he's regaining some of his stuff, but seems his command wasn't all there. If Dunning shuts down the Blue Jays tomorrow... -
If you can accommodate a $175 million roster like the Cubs in 2016, it definitely helps. Not for teams with middling payrolls. No margin for error in asset allocation.

You say all these things implying with 100% assuredness that the Pfizer, Moderna and J&J vaccines will work against every possible variant. Vaccines are here...we can all move on. You’re omitting the fact that if large swathes of the developing world become overwhelmed, along with Europe due to non-cooperation between EU member states...it threatens both the US and international/business travel for the next 3-5 years until booster shots can be developed as well. Most importantly, travel protocols that are agreed upon by all the major countries of the world. That’s going to be incredibly complicated and political as well.

I think Nelson Cruz already beat Yonder Alonso, Mazara and Encarnacion cumulative yearly contributions statistically in today’s game. -

The problem is nobody can possibly know exactly how long the vaccines will work...how likely someone with Covid but protected from serious illness is to give it to another person outdoors, or to give it to kids who aren’t or can’t be vaccinated. I can understand 50-75%, but why push it to the most extreme? Neither the Astros nor the Rangers are hurting financially. Why can’t there ever be compromises? It just doesn’t make any sense when 2/3rd’s the country has been patient for over a year not to be careful for another 6-8 weeks. If this type of polarization continues, it makes it more and more likely we’ll all be facing things like vaccine passports and showing proof of immunization nearly everywhere one goes in public...causing people to be forced to take sides.

Well, any games the Tigers beat the Twin are gravy...unfortunately, Hector was just a bit off in his Cruz to White Sox prediction. -

Can I get a dictionary entry? Or is that only possible by referring to myself in third person...? It’s not a shocker the small market Rays pioneered both the super-utility approach as well as giving more innings to relievers than starters, as well as openers. Those were perfect niches to exploit as targeted by Friedman. -
Except for the Indians in 2016, the Central hasn’t exactly been deserving. It’s comprised of all small and mid-market teams (or at least financial approaches in Minny and Chicago.) Feels like all the way back to 2006 when it was the best division in baseball.

By definition a super-utility guy plays nearly every day, just at different positions. Think of Chone Figgins...then Zobrist and Merrifield. -
They have lost 18 postseason games in a row. They’re like the Big Ten in the NCAA tourney or BCS.
