  1. Spoke too soon. Rafeal Furcal needs to take away that Furcalito nickname.
  2. Probably not next year either unless this year’s team is knocked out of it early, at least for Crochet. If Timmy’s okay, at least we have a really soft schedule to beat up on for a ten days or so. Madrigal the victim of the reverse shift.
  3. Fifth starter for the Rangers... Hamilton, Madrigal & Garcia sounds like a better SouthSide law firm than offensive counterpunch.
  4. Why is Madrigal even bothering to try that throw? Practice? National t.v. audience?
  5. The Angels are better than we thought, especially with this version of Ohtani. 2-2 split, though, was a reasonable expectation. Two blown saves in three opportunities just can’t continue for the rest of the season...or we will be buried by June. And we’re not as good as we thought without Jimenez and dominating versions of Moncada and Robert.
  6. The White Sox hitters were almost .500 against Cobb coming into the game last night. All we had to do was execute fundamentals to get those two runs in with 2nd/3rd, no outs and the game was basically over with a three run lead for our pen.
  7. Well, that was about the most predictable outcome of the game so far...
  8. Amazing, another 4-3 groundout from Grandal.
  9. KyYLe would be an excellent enforcer on a minor league hockey team.
  10. We’re going to be around 12-15 in the next power rankings, not that it really means anything. We just have to beat the Twins. If Hahn can’t beat the Indians even after they cut $90 million in payroll down to $40 million, he doesn’t deserve to keep his job.
  11. For what? Have you looked at his numbers the last two seasons?
  12. Extreme flyball pitchers don’t belong at GRF anyway. We’ve got a solid infield defense, no reason not to build our team around that aspect.
  13. And you know Cease is going to be lucky to get through four innings regardless. Excited for when we have to bring back Lopez to soak up innings in blowouts either, way.
  14. Get Ruiz up. At least we finally get to see Heuer again tonight in mop up duty. This is yet another example of Spring Training stats don’t matter.
  15. Ichiro wasn’t far off in athleticism...he definitely could have pitched if he’d wanted to.
  16. That’s how you end up in perpetual rebuilds...selling your young, cost-controlled core pieces. Unless you’re smart enough to trade for a Yelich. And it’s the Shohei Ohtani show tonight.
  17. Three pitches over 100, topping out at 100.6 there.
  18. Which is why you have to be extremely careful with contracts like the ones for Grandal and Keuchel and even Eaton. You can't start trading extensions for Lynn instead of Giolito and still aspire to be a championship level ballclub.
  19. Yeah, I agree. Tatis now actually has five errors. These are human beings... I think nearly every player in MLB history who signed a massive contract has struggled out of the gate to prove they're really worth that money. Undoubtedly, Vaughn and Madrigal have higher expectations of themselves than even their most ardent supporters can place on them. And that's part of the problem... Tatis believes he can make every play, just like Eloy can't resist his tendency to make goofy plays when he gets near the wall or netting. It can be managed or controlled, but it is a constant struggle. Look at TA, he could easily win a Gold Glove on a yearly basis based on ability, but it takes consistent application in terms of honing the mental/psychological side of one's game. I almost think Eloy's so used to playing the clown or joker that subconsciously he does silly things to entertain us and make his teammates laugh.
  20. Sure, but you can't have it both ways. The White Sox have been hyping most of these kids and cranking up expectations. It's up to the coaching staff to determine if these players have the psyches to deal with struggles. It is not like we are in a media market that crucified players like Boston, NY and Philly. All things considered, the White Sox have been pretty isolated. The defensive pressure Madrigal is putting on himself is self-induced and totally unrelated to game threads... he set extremely high expectations for himself, not unlike Gordon Beckham. The game's just moving too fast or too slow for both Vaughn and Madrigal, and LaRussa needs to speak with both of them to calm things down and take a step back.
  21. Either Rick Hahn has an ability to negotiate extensions that other teams’ GMs cannot, or the reality is that it’s becoming increasingly difficult to “win” these deals so obviously. They’re not going to be able to low ball TA, Lucas or Vaughn.
  22. Tatis has four errors alone, and just 2/15, but somehow the Padres are 3-0 (likely to be 3-1 unless they can rally.) But really good teams teams have the unique ability to figure out how to overcome mistakes and not compound them.
  23. Therein lies the debate...$250 million to TA or $100-125 million to Buxton? Would you be willing to pay another $100-125 million today to lock up Robert for life today?
