  1. But all the FA moves the Sox have made since Dunn have been universally panned...except for Swarzak, Albers for a half season...basically, the headline moves. That, and the Shields trade, continue to haunt him, although he mysteriously gets a free pass from nearly everyone for “being forced” to add Shields by KW.
  2. Yes, because of Darvish and Heyward, and Lester to a certain extent. Yet they’re scared to death to trade a combination of Schwarber, Happ, Russell and Almora (for deGrom) because their big league depth and versatility would take a huge hit. Not to mention chemistry concerns with shaking the clubhouse up. Finally, Zobrist is near the end of his career and Bote is certainly a useful guy but not the centerpiece for a Cole or Verlander type of deal. As much as they want Harper, starting pitching and shoring up the pen are even more critical the next 2-3 years. And obviously health.
  3. Because no team in baseball currently has more payroll flexibility, the LUIS Robert acquisition, starting off with three huge infusions of talent...and the fact that 80% of the division is now or soon will be (Minnesota) in various stages of rebuilding/retooling.
  4. https://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2018/08/04/new-york-times-new-writer-sarah-jeong-anti-white-tweets-ctn-vpx.cnn You’re welcome, NY Times. This will provide Rush and Hannity material for 2-3 weeks.
  5. 24 games played for Robert this year. Has will have missed roughly 90 if he can finish the rest of season without getting hurt again. Let’s say something like 52 gp and 90 missed at end of August, then surely will play for Kanny and/or W-S in postseason, then potentially AFL. Basically, 1 1/2+ months out of 5, or 33-35% of potential games played. Unless you want to count spring training. Avi, for example, should have 100/162, around 60% or twice as many games...so really needs to continue developing during that Sept though January time period, somewhere.
  6. https://sports.yahoo.com/president-donald-trump-changes-mind-lebron-james-criticizes-players-intelligence-due-cnn-interview-045205309.html Pattern of consistently denigrating the intelligence of African Americans continues, this time with LeBron in the crosshairs.
  7. The Mauer deal really hamstrung that franchise...that, and steps backwards for Sano/Buxton and Santana’s health. Berrios has been very good, but has yet to become a true ace as was predicted. I know, all progress/improvement is not linear. That, and moves for “bargain” free agents like Morrison and Lynn really fizzled out.
  8. The Twins did eke into the playoffs. That said, the most comforting is knowing that something like only 3 teams in BA history haven’t made into to the playoffs at least once in the five years following making it to the Top 5.
  9. Just watched highlights. Why the hell was Anderson looking backwards and slowing down between third and home....Jesus, that was terrible not to score there with two outs...
  10. Glad Yoan can leave this game with a positive feeling...
  11. Of course, walk one of their fastest runners to lead off the inning...
  12. So they can turn Moncada and his 167 baalhp around.
  13. White Sox 14-30 in 1 and 2 run games...7-19 in one runners. Even that out, you get 44-64. Narvaez has a 364 OBP? Wow...
  14. He’s too stylish and non chalant defensively at times, although it’s not about passion for playing the game. Part of it is he tends to sulk more noticeably than most of our players when he’s struggling (but his teammates are doing well or actually winning a game.)
  15. They’re going to lose another 20-25% in season tickets at this rate...maybe it’s the rare case of Sox being penny foolish, pound wise?
  16. Gabe Gross, Cliff Floyd and Zobrist walk offs come to mind. Linebrink and Koch.
  17. To be further depressed, just watch the Ohtani highlights tonight. At least the Cubs or Indians didn’t land him.
  18. Yet a Girardi, Showalter or Scioscia old school micromanaging type seems to be the worst choice. Oh well, we usually tend to go opposite personalities every time we change managers. We probably get McEwing, blah...
  19. Would take Infante at this point. The vendors must hate Renteria on Mon-Thurs home games causing them to work an extra 30-45 mins with all these pitching changes. 4 pitchers in one inning.
  20. So much for Narvaez, lol. He and Palka can’t field to save their lives, yet they’re the two main surprises after Davidson fell off a cliff. Frustrating to not have a single complete player on the roster.
  21. How could things get any worse with Moncada...? We can’t trade him, but we can change our coaching staff and attempt to find someone else who can get through to him.
  22. Shades of Seattle clinching playoff game in 2000...
