No, sending to Giolito won't help much because he already has a relationship with McCatty from Washington...unless that breaks down for some reason.

QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 18, 2017 -> 10:12 PM) Davidson is going to stick in the same way as Holmberg; teams will need specialists. They'll make carriers out of it. Air conditioners in Indiana? Passenger pigeons? Ball carriers?
-
How has Davidson looked defensively at 1B? Theoretically, if you could pencil in Davidson and Avi, that makes a huge difference. Abreu. Anderson. Moncada. That only leaves catcher (Collins), 3B (Saladino/Sanchez/Delmonico for now), RF and CF to fill. That's a lot more manageable than trying to find 6-7 position players. Don't think Yolmer Sanchez will be able to hold 3B due to arm, but it's a possibility. You still have the draft, MAYBE a huge signing this weekend, Otani, Basabe, Adolfo and lots of trades to come.

Engel deserves some playing time in the second half of the year if he continues his ascent hitting-wise. He fits the mold of scrappy/solid defense...likely placeholder. Would rather watch him than Tilson, in all honestly. LF Avi (Delmonico/Davidson) CF Leury/Engel/Tilson RF W.Garcia (Delmonico?) Doesn't seem like Rymer Liriano's coming around. Also, don't see any sense in giving Raburn at-bats unless they were trying to showcase him for a deadline or August trade.

Leury increasing his OPS in the most interesting way this game. Boog Powell's son? Wow...Hawk must be going on and on about the concession site at Camden Yards.
-
Wonder what our record would be if we still had Sale and Eaton (for the first 30+ games before the injury)... First place? Also wonder if Rodon would have been treated any differently by the medical/training staff if the Sox were "actually trying to compete" from Opening Day.
-
Leury, Sanchez, Avi (962) and Abreu are the only hitters worth a dang... Davidson all the way down to .218 but a still respectable 745 OPS (well, the defense at 3rd is another matter entirely). Doubt anyone could have predicted THAT particular development in the offseason. Anderson batting average all the way up to .242 now, but OBP...well, you can't win them all.

FBI Director James Comey said he let cameras into the New York FBI offices to film a new television series in hopes that he might build trust with the American people. “I worry sometimes that people don’t know us,” Comey said in explaining why he green-lighted “Inside the FBI: New York,” a new television documentary by Dick Wolf of “Law & Order” fame and documentarian Marc Levin. http://nypost.com/2017/04/12/comey-oks-new...ost-fbis-image/ This is going to be an extremely fascinating show if it ever makes it to air now that Comey's been fired.

Though he was relaxed, attendees said he went through his usual pronouncements, making clear he doesn’t think the media covers all the good work the White House is doing. “I don’t watch you guys as much anymore because if I did, it would be all hell. You couldn’t tell that i went to a good school, studied, that I succeeded in my companies,” he griped. Channeling his inner Greg775 (politico.com) “I’m not a psychologist, but there’s something strange going on with Mr. Trump,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) said during a CNN town hall on Tuesday night. Many of those divisions are of Trump’s making, too. He starts in Saudi Arabia, which he’s attacked in the past, and where he’ll give a speech that’s being written by the same aide who wrote his Muslim ban. Then he’ll go to Israel, which he may have just sold out to the Russians on their intelligence gathering, but where he’s already scrapped a stop to the historic site of Masada, constricted his visit to the Holocaust Museum there to 15 minutes, had his national security adviser suggest that the Western Wall isn’t part of Israel and appears to be backing out of his promise to move the Embassy to Jerusalem. Next up, Rome to see Pope Francis, who’s sideways criticism of him last year for attacking Mexican immigrants Trump called “disgraceful.” Then, a series of meetings for NATO and the G7, which he spent the last year degrading, in addition to swiping at several of the leaders whom he’ll be seeing. Plus, he’ll spend the NATO part of the trip in Brussels, the city he called “a disaster” in his response to the terrorist attacks there last year. Thursday, Trump tried to practice statesmanship. He congratulated the Colombian president on the Nobel Peace Prize he won last year for making peace with the rebel FARC, though he oddly then added, “Thank you very much.” http://www.politico.com/story/2017/05/18/t...ity-plea-238582 Depending on which poll numbers you go by, Trump is somewhere between 8% and 22% approval rating across European Union countries as he undertakes this first international trip.

Safeco is one of those "pretty" modern stadiums with the retractable roof and the gimmick of the trains going by. I guess anything is better than the Kingdome (except for home field advantage for those teams like the Twins and Blue Jays back in the day). And too bad we can't trade Abreu to the Braves, but he wouldn't have a position to play when Freeman comes back...

Haha. Maybe it's Amber Heard or her lawyer? Part of the WannaCry virus hacking group? It would be a shocker if that movie was actually any good in the first place. Oh, the irony of pirates stealing from pirates literally and figuratively (depending on your perspective regarding Disney and Johnny Depp going to the well one final time too often).

Berrios has been pretty much the complete opposite of his 2016 MLB version...they might have promoted him too quickly, but it seemed it worked for his learning curve the second time around.

Giolito currently at 39 k's in 38.3 IP, 21 walks. 40 hits. 1.59 whip. May, Rayburn and Blair hitting well. Pedro Alvarez kills a homer to the opposite field. Got out in a hurry. Oops. 2-1 Knights. Line drive that Liriano snagged before it almost carried over his head...also to oppo field by Andino. Sisco with opposite field blast into LCF for second double of the night. All Xb hits so far, four. Strike three swinging, second Washington k but only at 92 mph. Strike 3 called on inside corner looking.

Two hopper to SS, routine play. Chance Sisco, #1 O's prospect and a catcher hammers a resounding double into the gap and through the wind into deep RCF. Giolito was 6-5 with a 2.97 era in 3 minor league stops last year. Strikeout swinging after going 3-1 in count, bat goes flying into the seats, two outs. Groundball to ss Everth Cabrera to get out of the inning, 23 pitches, ERA at 6.19. 13 more scoreless innings he'll be at 4.50, haha. Fulmer, btw, now at 3.86. Danish 3.32 and Lopez 3.14. Another double, wind-aided over Jacob May, halfway up the LF wall by Logan Schafer to lead off bottom of the third. Groundball to SS, runner can't advance to third. Walked Michael Bourn Identity/Ultimatum/Supremacy for the second time. Giavotella hits into second dp in two ab's. 6.03 era, 3/2/0/2/1, just 36 pitches.

Trump doubling down today on idiotic statements that contradict previous ones Director Comey was very unpopular with most people," he said. "I actually thought when I made that decision, and I also got a very, very strong recommendation, as you know, from the Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein. When I made that decision I actually thought it would be a bipartisan decision because you look at all of the people on the Democratic side, not only the Republican side, that were saying such terrible thing about Director Comey." CNN.com Response, Rosenstein names Bharara, Yates and Comey to assist Mueller's investigatory team.
-
Engel with sixth homer, up to 760 ops. Giolito walked Michael Bourn to start game but got a 5-4-3 dp that Delmonico almost threw away. Line drive smoked but directly at 2b Ladendorf, who was well-positioned. This NOR line-up is filled with former big leaguers, fwiw. Don't love that Moncada's thumb injury is top hand from his dominant LH side. Btw, Dunning's brother was activated by the Knights. Asche activated as well but not in the lineup.

Fox News, especially after Jason Chaffetz joins, can be burned to the ground along with them. Will throw in the Erdogan security force/bodyguards for free as an added bonus if they act now.

QUOTE (bmags @ May 17, 2017 -> 08:00 AM) Let's just let this end it: That fox (local fox) story was ridiculous hearsay from the start, interviewing this "former law officer" who said he may have heard from someone who heard from an officer that they found emails from wikileaks on his laptop. Except that police dept didn't have the laptop. He is not a PI hired by the family. And he heard about it from the TV. Or not... https://www.yahoo.com/news/fox-stands-dnc-m...-001103315.html

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 18, 2017 -> 05:46 AM) Wade Davis got hurt last year in July I believe. Don't think he was really an option. On the active roster July 16th through 30th. I think the bigger issue was the Royals felt they were still in it at that point.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/report-flynn-blo...-024930733.html Flynn blocked military move against ISIS that Turkey opposed...working as a US general while being paid $500k simultaneously to lobby for Turkish government interests. https://www.yahoo.com/news/unnamed-white-ho...-215228094.html As unrelenting shockers keep streaming in from the White House, one more has a senior Trump administration official on the record, saying, “I don’t see how Trump isn’t completely f—ed.” The top White House official spoke to the Daily Beast on condition of anonymity when asked about POTUS sharing highly classified national security information with Russian diplomats and also the revelation that James Comey kept notes of his dealings with Trump — and there was one memo in which the president asked the then-FBI director to halt his investigation into Michael Flynn over his ties to Russia. “Every time I feel like we’re getting a handle on the last Russia fiasco, a new one pops,” the senior staffer said Monday, according to the Daily Beast. On Tuesday the outlet said the staffer revised his comment to: “I guess I was wrong about the timing… We can’t even wrap up one Russia fiasco before we’re on to the next one.” Then came the damning blow from the official, who the Daily Beast revealed worked on Trump’s campaign: “I don’t see how Trump isn’t completely f***ed.”

By Josh Dawsey and Annie Karni Already, Trump’s former campaign manager Paul Manafort, whose work in Ukraine has come under review, has a lawyer. So does former White House national security adviser Michael Flynn, who last week got served with a subpoena by the Senate Intelligence Committee. White House press secretary Sean Spicer earlier Wednesday – before the Mueller news was announced -- sidestepped a question about whether Trump himself was considering hiring a personal lawyer to represent him in the ongoing investigation. “If I have any updates for that at some point I’ll let you know,” he told reporters on Air Force One. Asked if he was representing Trump in a personal capacity on the Russia investigation, Trump’s longtime personal lawyer Michael Cohen replied in a phone interview, “I don’t know if he’s made a complete decision. There’s several mitigating factors.” http://www.politico.com/story/2017/05/17/t...-fearful-238535 Special prosecutor to complicate West Wing life
