Alcides Escobar (450) and Alex Gordon (485) have the two worst OPS numbers in MLB. Yikes.
-
We passed the Indians for 27th in the last couple of days...
-
That's because the White Sox would have the best bullpen in the history of baseball with Chris The Dragon Devenski and Zach Burdi added to Swarzak, Kahnle, Jones and Robertson.

Would Trump dare fire Rosenstein...? That's the first thought that came to mind. It's also going to be interesting to see what Trump does from abroad via Twitter and press conferences, especially if Comey testifies to Congress next week. The Donald probably won't sleep at all, absorbing the FOX NEWS coverage from abroad (hope he only has access to BBC or CNN, lol) due to the time zone difference and not wanting to miss any of the latest developments in DC.

Well, Lopez goes to the top of the heap for now...unless they call up Danish first.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 17, 2017 -> 07:16 PM) Someone kiss that thumb to make it better. Someone hire Jesus and have him wave his hands over it. Whatever. Someone have Moises Alou provide some of his special healing elixir and simultaneously enroll Moncada in Kyle Schwarber's newly-announced "Neighborhood Heroes" program. The magical Cubs' pixie dust will lead to at least 3 MVP's.

Fire Hahn. (Well, he probably deserves a C, C+ at best, for his GM tenure.) Just noticed Fulmer got absolutely blasted. They really need to sign Martin, as long as the combined price is $50 million or less.

Does that mean SoxTalk now has a higher standard than POTUS and Congress? Because potentially banned posters could similarly using the "I was just joking/being sarcastic" defense. Would love to have some of whatever this writer is smoking or drinking... Even if criminality on the president's part were to be proven and even if a large majority of legislators could be prompted to move against Trump, removing a president this early in his term does not look like a last resort. It looks spiteful. It looks opportunistic. It looks anti-democratic. Many voters did not give Trump their support at the ballot, but the impeachment of a newly elected head of state this early in his term gives new life to the absurd idea of a 'deep state' conspiracy aimed at undermining Trump in defence of special interests and entrenched power. For all these reasons, Trump will not be impeached. Not now – not ever. With that in mind, it seems that he is almost guaranteed to remain in office for a full term, continuing as president until 2020. And even then, even after what will be difficult, bruising years ahead, he is more than likely, as the incumbent, to win another term in office, and to stay on for four more years. https://www.yahoo.com/news/no-chance-donald...-163937108.html https://images.search.yahoo.com/search/imag...mp;action=click Was just riding on the subway and many of the stories in the Chinese media about Trump have this picture (accompanying abuse of power/obstruction of justice/impeachment headlines) of Bill Clinton and Monica in 1997 (her b-day). Wow...it's amazing how much he has aged since the "happier" times of that photo.

Would love to see Cooper fix Matt Harvey after we dump Hollland/MiGo/Shields. Probably won't happen. But at least it would be entertaining.

https://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/alien_covenant New Alien Covenant film holding pretty strong in mid 70's at RT.com. Seems to be more satisfying than Prometheus to critics.

http://m.milb.com/player/571981 Telvin Nash the Eric Thames of WS. Talk about a big guy. Makes Barnum look tiny. Two dingers today and 4 in first 22 at bats but too old to be anything but a curiosity. https://baseballdraftreport.com/tag/telvin-nash/ https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toe_Nash Was hoping he was related to the legendary Toe Nash, but couldn't find anything.

Better than 10%. Compared unfavorably with Tebow (.227/645 ops) and MJ hitting in the minors. As far as Clarke goes, probably wanted to get into the admin before Trump was impeached. And does anyone know if Dr. Ben Carson is still alive????? Talk about Conway-esque level disappearing.

Cabrera and Frazier are essentially sunk costs...but Anderson and Saladino (along with the other two) being number #176-179 out of 188 qualified is pretty scary. Thankfully, it looks like Timmy's starting to come out it a bit, not to mention he was dealing with off field stuff, too. And it's not like anyone expects Leury, Avi or Yolmer to sustain their success. Definitely a mixed bag.

Robertson, LaRoche, Cabrera, Bonifacio, Beckham, Soto and Shuck...hard for anyone at SoxTalk to deliberately do much worse. That said, Leury Garcia is out OPSing Benintendi, Bregman and Swanson.

Trump Gave Info To Russians CNN Was Asked Not To Report For Fear Of Losing Lives https://www.yahoo.com/news/trump-gave-russi...-225316633.html When a CNN reporter was asked by Trump administration officials not to report the name of the city where intelligence had been collected on ISIS, the network agreed not to do it. President Donald Trump, though, slipped the details to Russian officials. In March, CNN’s Evan Perez learned from intelligence officials that ISIS was developing explosives to be hidden in electronic devices and activated on international flights. Perez was asked not to reveal the city where the intelligence came from, because “it would, they insisted, get people killed,” CNN’s Jake Tapper said Tuesday. Perez did not include the name of the city in his story for the cable network. But in a meeting with Russian officials last week, Trump revealed classified information to one of America’s greatest adversaries. Part of that information reportedly included naming the city where the ISIS intelligence came from. “It’s the same city,” Tapper said in a scathing takedown. “It’s the same city that CNN was cautioned not to report.”

Next best conspiracy theory for Fox to cover while Trump's not tweeting and flying to the Coast Guard Academy in Connecticut for a speech??? Congress passing a law that newspapers in the US can no longer use anonymous sources? Capital punishment for leaking? The best Drudge could come up with is this from People Magazine. “He’s nothing but a bullsh–ter,” Obama told two friends early last November, describing an election night phone call with Trump, in which the businessman suddenly professed his “respect” and “admiration” for Obama—after years of hectoring. Speaking to PEOPLE for its new cover story on Obama and his wife Michelle adjusting to life outside the White House, the two friends quoted Obama’s blunt assessment of President-elect Trump. And how has Obama’s opinion changed since Trump been in office? “Well,” said one of the sources, “it hasn’t gotten any better.”

Two inning saves are never easy. Melky Cabrera Blooper Reel and no hard hit balls...that said, Robertson's never going to be more than an 80-85% conversion guy whose strikeout totals look impressive but who usually implodes bigly when he does struggle. And he is inarguably overpaid to put up those numbers for a non-elite closer. And apparently Renteria felt that Swarzak had been used too much already in recent weeks...so you're left with Ynoa and Holmberg to close out a game against the heart of their line-up.

Not to mention Drake LaRoche's trail led eventually to the Eaton/Sale/Zach Duke Massacre. -

That year we signed Cabrera, Robertson, LaRoche, Bonifacio, Geo Soto, Beckham...NOT GOOD. Not to mention JB Shuck. Must be one of the worst free agent classes (at least 5 players) in recent MLB history. -
https://twitter.com/jasoninthehouse/status/...bi%2Findex.html NOW/FINALLY....Jason Chaffetz actually wants to get involved in the Trump investigation, lol. Must be trying to add to his bonafides for his upcoming FOX NEWS gig. Should definitely be a PROFILES IN COURAGE AWARD in 2018. Independent Maine Senator Angus King says this meets his standard for impeachment http://www.cnn.com/2017/05/16/politics/tru...-fbi/index.html If true, that is almost the textbook definition of obstruction of justice, a charge that could well lead to impeachment proceedings. "Reluctantly I have to say yes," independent Maine Sen. Angus King told CNN's Wolf Blitzer Tuesday night about the prospect of impeachment if the claims in the Comey memo are true. But there's nothing to worry about, we should ACTUALLY BE PROSECUTING JAMES COMEY FOR DERELICTION OF DUTY (and QUITE clearly, the Honorable Jeff Sessions would have done something about it) Addressing the Comey memo, GOP Rep. Blake Farenthold of Texas said: "If Comey felt like the president was trying to obstruct justice, Comey would have been duty-bound to report it to the DOJ and act on it. And we're not hearing that happened. I think this is another example of whatever Trump does gets the worst possible spin." THE BEST POSSIBLE ARGUMENT REPUBLICANS CAN MAKE TO DEFEND TRUMP But, you know, can I say one more thing about the '90s that connect it with what's going on today? In 1991, we had George Herbert Walker Bush in the White House. It was still the Soviet Union, Gorbachev was still in power for the rest of the year, and a warning came from our ambassador in Moscow, Jack Matlock, which was passed on to the White House. He had inside information from sources, from confidential sources, that a coup attempt was being planned. And, by the way, of course it happened in August of that year. That information came from our Ambassador Matlock, from his sources in Moscow, to the White House. George Bush had been instructed that this was highly sensitive, do not reveal the source of the information, keep it confidential. Bush fouled up, and within hours, he got on the phone to Moscow, a line that was open, monitored by the KGB, trying to reach Gorbachev, and he revealed the information, and he revealed the source, which went straight to the KGB. This was an unbelievable breach of confidentiality, dangerous, potentially deadly results, and the greatest irony is that George Herbert Walker Bush had been Director of the CIA before. Now, why am I telling this story? Obviously, my first point is, presidents have fouled up, and have declassified unwittingly, or sometimes for political purposes, highly sensitive information all the time. I'm not excusing what Trump did — it looks like he was very sloppy — but the first thing to note is it's not unusual, this happens a lot. The second thing, and let's talk about this, is sharing information intelligence with the Russians. Guys, we've been doing this for nearly 20 years. After 9/11, the Russians offered us valuable intelligence on the Taliban, on Afghanistan, to help us fight back against bin Laden, and we've been exchanging intelligence on terrorists ever since. A lot of people wish we'd exchange more information; we might have prevented the Boston bombing. So this hysteria about sharing intelligence with our adversary, no, we are cooperating with Russia because we have a common enemy. http://therealnews.com/t2/index.php?option...p;jumival=19110

What happened? It said both of those balls went to Leury Garcia. Cabrera just played them tentatively? -

That pitch was center cut...maybe a little high, but fortunate just to give up a single to a light-hitting SS. So much for Narvaez's defense. Hard to imagine the Angels not tying it at this point. Good test for Robertson. Did Espinosa trying to bunt distract him somehow? -

Now who the heck do you go to for the save? Holmberg, Ynoa and Swarzak are the only relievers left. How many pitches did Swarzak throw last night? Robertson still out there is the answer...at least for now.
