  1. Any opinions on "One Battle After Another" or "Orwell 2+2=5"???
  2. Without 5/6 defensive backs. Another starter Joseph was at 75% at best. The Chiefs will look different with Rashee Rice next week.
  3. Just like he thrives as a supporting player on the field, his presence also helped strenghten the theme of this Andy McCullough article about the Brewers' shorter-than-average roster: The White Sox have fielded their share of height-challenged players even before the Brewers made it cool, although their exploits tended to validate Randy Newman's lyrics with lesser outcomes ranging from "Dominic Fletcher hitting one homer in 72 games" to "Vaughn's White Sox career" to "Andrew Benintendi's White Sox career to date." (Don’t forget Chase Meidroth, Nishida and Bergolla…) Now that the White Sox are actively emulating Milwaukee in hopes of maximizing their talent, I wouldn't expect that to change. For instance, it's not hard to read about Caleb Durbin ... https://soxmachine.com/2025/10/spare-parts-andrew-vaughn-milwaukee-brewers-stretch-further-into-october
  4. Of course, lost in all this in the fact that Golden Spikes winners and Top 5-10 first round draft picks are never selected to be "complementary" or "glue pieces," but that's exactly what Vaughn, Gordon Beckham and Nick Madrigal all turned out to be, essentially. The other irony here is that in the "Average Joes/Andrews" lineup of the Brewers...he's still quite an important piece after Chourio/Yelich/Contreras.
  5. https://www.southsidesox.com/chicago-white-sox-commentary-and-analysis/117379/andrew-vaughn-was-never-going-to-be-king-in-chicago "Even Erick Fedde saw a change in Vaughn from their time as teammates in Chicago and now in Milwaukee with his role being changed. This is what Fedde told Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times: I mean, if the White Sox could fix Miguel Vargas’ swing, maybe they could have fixed Vaughn’s swing issues like the Brewers did. Instead, as (reporter) Williams pointed out, Vaughn likely needed to go to a team that did not need him to be an impact bat, just a supporting one. Being unable to handle the spotlight was why Andrew Vaughn was never going to be the king in Chicago. Instead, he is thriving just being a piece in a lineup playing for a National League pennant, and disappointing Chicago in the process."

  7. Go M's...Polanco a key contributor throughout these playoffs.
  8. Wilson isn't important enough to cost anyone's job...

  10. https://medium.com/@jenn.livingston97/dave-stewart-fired-as-gm-of-the-diamond-backs-c50ceb1d6388 Took AZ just two years to fire TLR...after "cleaning house" and making some controversial moves that backfired. https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2281764-yasmani-tomas-signing-a-bold-first-move-for-d-backs-larissa-stewart-duncan-era Blew more money on bad Cuban contracts than even Marco Paddy. Here's another wasted deal https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yoan_López Also, Shelby Miller for Ender Inciarte/Dansby Swanson didn't work out very well either.
  11. That would be much better if Mead was a competent outfielder, since they already have Vargas Sosa and two catchers that can hit.
  12. There's not much evidence he and Dave Stewart did a good job in AZ a decade+ ago. Summarily fired. Same with the Angels for TLR...
  13. They need to consistently be #8-12 year in and year out. They will get a big bump from #1-3 pick hopefully...but still almost nothing from international to supplement the US draft. Nobody from Asia, either. Look at the sheer number of NOBEL stars that affected AL/NLDS outcomes.
  14. Milwaukee Brewers (5 votes) In how many games: seven games (3 votes), six games (2) MVP if Brewers win: Jackson Chourio (4), Andrew Vaughn (1) https://www.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/46556337/mlb-playoffs-2025-alcs-nlcs-expert-predictions-dodgers-brewers-mariners-blue-jays ESPN experts pick Jays (8 to 7 votes) and Dodgers (10 to 5) to advance
  15. That's the most totally meaningless stat ever calculated lol. 75-80% of those players will never even see the majors. You could have 27-33 former MLB vets filling up AA and AAA and accomplish absolutely nothing from a prospect standpoint...building a young foundation. I'm talking about the rating for the MiLB system at Law, Baseball America, BP, Fangraphs...the consensus during the off season across the industry was somewhere between #4-6.
  16. How much is Luke Fickell's buyout if the Badgers start over? "This past offseason, the Wisconsin Badgers actually extended Luke Fickell, but his buyout remained at the same figure of $25 million. Firing Luke Fickell would result in the second-biggest buyout ever paid in College Football, behind only Texas A&M firing Jimbo Fisher. If there's a silver lining for Wisconsin it's the fact that rather than owing a massive sum upfront, they'll pay the buyout in monthly installments making it much easier to manage. Fickell's contract was structured so that the Badgers would only have to pay him 80% of his contract value, which does help if they need to move on..." Kirby Smart $118 million, Kalen de Boer around $90 million buyouts...Norvell at FSU really big as well, Dabo at $60 million. Jimbo Fisher's buyout from Texas A&M is set at approximately $76 million, making it the largest coaching buyout in college sports history. Buyout Breakdown Total Amount: Texas A&M is obligated to pay Jimbo Fisher around $76 million as part of his buyout agreement, which is nearly triple the previous record for a public school coaching buyout.
  17. Is that the biggest buyout in NCAA coaching history...BB and FB?
  18. Apropros for a totally forgettable player....
  19. More than TEN from the beginning of the off season....if you average out all the initial rankings.
  20. If they both gave a C or lower, their unique access to the White Sox might have been jeopardized... Hard to argue that falling from single teens for MiLB ops to 17th was a clear victory for that side of things...especially Schultz Hagen and Taylor overall having a variety of issues connected to them.
  21. Not even Spider-Man would have had the Turang homer…
  22. Ohio State doesn't really have a game that most would consider a test until Michigan...who looks even weaker considering the OU/Texas loss and now USC.
  23. 3.1 fWAR is worth roughly $21-24 million on the FA market...that's pretty darned good for 1B/DH.
  24. https://www.wfmj.com/story/53156554/midseason-additions-of-misiorowski-and-vaughn-have-played-big-role-in-getting-brewers-to-nlcs At the time of the trade, there was little reason to believe Vaughn would become a major factor for Milwaukee this season. He had batted .189 with a .218 on-base percentage and .314 slugging percentage in 48 games with the White Sox, who eventually sent him to the minor leagues. The Brewers initially kept him in the minors after acquiring him. But he got called back up to the majors July 7 after Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins went on the injured list with a sprained left thumb. Milwaukee manager Pat Murphy greeted Vaughn by letting him know he would probably get sent right back to the minors if he continued chasing pitches outside the strike zone. Vaughn homered off Dodgers right-hander Yoshinobu Yamamoto in his first at-bat with the Brewers and improved his chase rate in making a remarkable transformation. He batted .308 with a .375 on-base percentage and .493 slugging percentage in 64 games with Milwaukee. “This guy’s a gamer,” Brewers president of baseball operations Matt Arnold said. “He’s been through a lot, and he’s failed, just like all of us. We’ve all failed in this sport. If you haven’t, you haven’t been doing it long enough. So we’ve all failed. For that guy to come in here and be himself and put the team on his back at times this year is really awesome.” Vaughn offered simple reasons for his dramatic improvement. “Change of scenery, being around some different coaches, different stuff and just playing free,” he said. Vaughn put the Brewers ahead Saturday by connecting on a 3-2 pitch from Colin Rea and hitting a 383-foot drive over the left-field wall with two outs in the fourth. That cleared the way for Misiorowski to earn the Game 5 win.
