  1. QUOTE (South Side Fireworks Man @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 06:10 PM) I always liked Uribe. Not a coincidence at all he was part of our last playoff team half a lifetime ago.
  2. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 06:17 PM) Albers is the next up to be DFA. Hahn was about to sign him to a contract extension. Uh-oh.
  3. Leyson Septimo against Cody Ross would be preferable.
  4. Lincecum's line today: 6 IP, 4 hits, 1 ER, 2 BB's, 2 K's For 1/5th or 1/6th of the price of Shields. Much better for marketing purposes as well.
  5. If you want even more nightmares, just check out Linceum's line for the Angels today...6 IP, 4 hits, 1 ER, 2 BB, 2 K's Of course, Hahn didn't sign him. He spent 5-6X as much money on James Shields instead. Between Danks, Turner, Latos, Rollins, Sands...we're great at finding players who can't stick on the MLB roster at least.
  6. Would like to see Renteria as manager with Gardenhire as the bench coach...but we'll probably get another former Sox. AJ would be entertaining at least. Probably a complete disaster, but sports are about entertainment as the bottom line, after all.
  7. QUOTE (bulokis @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 05:52 PM) Time to give up on the season. The more we force it, the more it is looking abysmal. I want to see more Tim Anderson like player. You mean like Trayce, Montas and Semien? The best you're going to get is May, Keenyn Walker and Engel in terms of athleticism.
  8. Lindor's either hurt or Francona pulled him for not hustling to 1B.
  9. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 05:25 PM) Why? No one enjoys the Sox getting killed more than you. Just check your game thread post counts during losses vs. wins. If it means Hahn and/or Ventura and/or KW are finally gone and we can finally move forward as an organization, great. And it's not like there have been many winning threads to post in. But I'm sure you can go back through all of them and give us a quick tabulation. Sounds like something worthwhile to do.
  10. Frazier's down to .200 and sinking like the Titanic. Another NY Times possible feature story, to go along with Q and James Shields. Sale's theoretical Cy Young is boring, comparatively.
  11. Wait, Coats is still on this team? Btw, Mr. Salazar, don't throw change-ups to Abreu.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 05:21 PM) Did Chris Marquez ever play with Dan Coat? That's REALLY the best "burn" you can come up with, lol? Guess you got me. Hopefully the orcs from Warcraft will just land on the field and wipe out the umpiring crew so everyone can go home and forget about baseball for 24 hours. Well, except for the media.
  13. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 05:19 PM) If they fired Kenny, Buddy, Rick, Haber, and the coaching staff, who would be there to hire the people to hire? It's not a good situation right now. Train wreck. Fabian and Haber deserve to stay, fwiw. Buddy Bell has to be gone, just for his idiotic "feel good" conference calls about the farm system...can't take them anymore.
  14. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 05:14 PM) Wasn't Shields supposed to "eat" innings? He only ate 1.2 innings in this one. The game was over at 8-0 why not just leave him out there? Respect for veterans is more important than preserving the pen. I'm sure Ventura's plan is to limit it to Purke, Ynoa and then give an inning of work to someone like Jennings, Albers or Duke.
  15. QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 05:14 PM) Legitimately one of the worst stretches in recent history When you would rather watch Paulino, Nestor Molina or Chris Marquez out there, you know things have taken a turn for the worse. Will throw in Zach Stewart for good measure.
  16. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 05:11 PM) The whole Sox organization deserves the egg on it's face from JR on down. Except for Sale, Q and Anderson, yeah, pretty much. Eaton gets a pass, too. Probably Tyler Saladino.
  17. Can anyone think of a move (FA or trade) in recent Sox history that backfired so spectacularly? Hard to come up with one...and there's plenty of candidates.
  18. QUOTE (soxforlife05 @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 05:08 PM) B-b-but if you take away his bad starts he has a 3.06 ERA If you take away all of John Danks' bad starts the last couple of years, he easily wins the Cy Young and gets a contract extension from Hahn.
  19. Why doesn't MLB have the 10 run rule again?
  20. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 05:06 PM) RV just destroyed the bullpen with 2 of the hottest offenses in baseball coming up, Boston and Toronto Too much respect for the veteran James Shields' career accomplishments to hang him and Hahn out to dry, lol. Purke and Ynoa are going to eat it again. Ynoa might find himself in the starting rotation the way he has been going. And Ian Desmond with the go-ahead sac fly RBI for Tex. Of course.
  21. The Conjuring 3 Getting the demons out who are possessing the White Sox currently. Or at least possessing Rick Hahn.
  22. It's a bit too fitting Ryan Rua just came up at exactly the same time (as the Sox were imploding) for the Rangers and failed with the bases loaded, no outs against the Cardinals, down 1-0 in the top of the 9th in StL.
  23. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 04:57 PM) Don Cooper has gotten more mileage out of fixing Matt Thornton than any coach in major league history has out of fixing one player. You can't realistically blame Don Cooper for this mess after the way Shields pitched for SD against the Mariners and the fact everyone in baseball could look at his peripherals and declining velocity and increased homers and see red flag signs flashing a mile away.
  24. Forgot about Ranaudo, who will probably go on a tear and make Hahn look even more like an idiot for trading for Shields. The White Sox love their history. Dunn in 2011. Q's no decision/lack of support and then the bizarre demise of James Shields. The NY Times article has to be coming soon. When you start 23-10 and then subsequently go 10-25, that's too inviting of a story to pass up.
  25. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Jun 18, 2016 -> 04:53 PM) I didn't think it'd get worse than Flowers and it seems like it although I haven't seen his number for ATL this season. Flowers has actually been doing fairly well this season...
