  1. Schiff keeps repeating/recycling the same supposed insights. Did you know Miguel Vargas had a dramatic swing change on April 23rd? We heard it at least one hundred times this year...but why not THEN looking into why he sort of plateaued in the middle of the season and what he was doing to react to changes in the way they were pitching him? Sox hunting fastballs after the Tauchman initiated team meeting...okay, now what after the scouting reports have called for more off speed stuff early in counts? He definitely is more relaxed when Stone is away from the booth. About the only really good joke he made recently was about Stone not having to pay much (if at all) for crab cakes in Baltimore when he had a long consecutive scoreless innings streak going. At least no Playgirl appearance jokes with Stone Pony. Way too much selling the team and fake excitement and overreacting to things playoff teams routinely do on an everyday basis. How about more asking around why the Sox have been terrible holding runners the last two decades? No we get more Quero leads the AL with five pickoffs stats. Well then why does he only have a 0.1 or 0.2 fWAR if he's such a good catcher? Framing? Pitch calling? Leadership? Gamesmanship like AJ used to get into the heads of opposing teams?
  2. Nats and Orioles are both locked into pick ten and above...Sox competing with Twins.
  3. A sub 65-97 pace for a full season is not actually considered good...by most fanbases.
  4. Never said it did. But demand is not going to be increased by adding nothing this offseason but picking up Robert's option. Marketing/giveaways this year kept attendance from catering further, but two more years of this?
  5. "In summary, cities like Austin, Fort Worth, and Orlando exemplify the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the U.S., driven by diverse job opportunities and lifestyles that cater to various age groups and interests." Tampa Bay to Orlando and a new San Antonio/Austin team makes sense.
  6. wild they're spending more on international guys years out than the 2026-27 actual MLB roster...
  7. If you added Naylor, Merrill Kelly or Michael King and a closer like Suarez/Williams/Helsley...how much would twenty game season ticket packages go up? Just not sure that even overpaying for Kyle Tucker would move the meter that much after the last 2-3 months. Maybe. Just don't see any way they add more than $5-10 million guys...maybe 1-2.
  8. Luis Arraez will get everyone in the lineup to focus on making contact lol. Tbh, not sure he even gets $10 million per season. Ops has been around 700-720 for most of the year and average down about 30-40 points from usual standards.
  9. They have no choice but to find the veteran guys under $5 million like a Ramon Laureano coming into this season (joined a contender, though in Balt) that actually want to play in Chicago. And just not sure what spots other than RF (maybe) or 1B/DH and then one in the rotation and a couple in the pen are actually considered available by Getz. Still stuck with Robert and Benintendi. No idea who the third biggest contract would even be.
  10. Helsley has been the biggest enigma. Also added Rogers and Soto. Yankees and Mets both struggling mightily in their bullpens down the stretch. Luckily, Cincy and SF and AZ not pressuring them like CLE and Texas in the AL.
  11. Shoulder injuries ... caveat emptor.
  12. But Austin AJ Slater was the big offseason priority...first signing. Coming back for another RF platoon?
  13. Even the USC QB is embarrassed for the Fire. Matt Leinart, btw. [Tim Hotze] Just received the following official statement from the Chicago ... www.reddit.com › MLS › comments › ti... 8 days ago · Lienert, now the vice president of partnership sales with the Chicago Fire of MLS, did not respond to requests for comment...
  14. To be fair, I read the article by Dan Hayes, though I don't have a link to share. The Twins had a 5 man team for advanced scouting and kept 1 of the 5. It was also stated that this is becoming more common place in MLB as teams are using video scouting more and more. Not saying it's good, bad, or otherwise. Just saying the Twins aren't the only teams cutting back in this particular department (Cubs basically did the same thing last offseason). twinstalk.com
  15. Mets have now used 46 different pitchers this season ... setting a big league record.
  16. Biggest off season move in terms of salary, right?
  17. Twins and Tigers are embarrassing themselves recently front office-wise.
  18. You know there's going to be a big group of SEC teams with 2-3 losses. Teams like Texas OU Alabama. Then you have Oregon Penn State Ohio State and whoever wins Indiana/Illinois. Getting close to the point where Div 1 needs to be just the top 50-60 teams based on spending/revenue.
  19. "In truth, his game was the kind of rebound performance Williams needed after playing a season opener littered with inaccuracies against the Minnesota Vikings. Williams did a much better job of hitting his throws and ran the offense with more precision in this game. In the first half, before the Lions’ offense decided to turn the difficulty down to rookie, the Bears averaged 0.28 expected points per dropback and 6.3 yards per play according to TruMedia. Both of those marks are excellent, and Chicago moved the ball without consistent help from its rushing attack. Being a skeptic of Williams is fine, but using this specific performance to reinforce extreme doubt in his future doesn’t make much sense. The interception he threw has been plastered all over social media, but it was his only turnover of the game and it happened on second-and-32 (basically a punt)." yahoo sports
  20. Projecting guys like Teel or Colson at 4-5 fWAR before they prove it first seems to be a foolhardy exercise. It's also a way to justify not making any major FA additions. Meidroth at 3.0, Vargas or Sosa gets up to 2-2.5, Quero or Baldwin make major improvements....we have been doing this same thing since 2022. Ignoring the eye test. Remember the board doing the same thing with Madrigal earlier in his career. Nobody would have believed that Kwan would be the best pro over Rutschman, Larnach, Conforto, all those OSU studs.
  21. To win it all, sure.
  22. Have a feeling Tauchman is going to be hard pressed to repeat this year in his mid 30s. Well that's easy to guess because 75-80% of the time ... Father Time wins.
  23. Except Thorpe and I think Aldrin Batista and Adams as well not high velo/stuff guys.
  24. Might very well be his last Sox appearance...
  25. O's also have Irish and Bradfield...
