  1. What are the odds a Sox signee even gets a deal that goes into 2027 unless it's a club or mutual option? 5-10% Ponce if basically 20 teams all pass on him. Seems like a Preller low budget deal like the lefty starter out of KBO who was a flop last year, Hart.
  2. The odds of Gonzalez making the big leagues as a regular are 5-10% at best. Just doesn't possess any real plus tools. Even Meidroth has his offensive approach, contact ability and theoretically higher OBP that differentiates him.
  3. Trusting Santos to make a pressure kick even in a dome...well. Might have gotten bailed out on the return.
  4. Wright got burnt...wow.
  5. Well...that quickly changed, except for having a bottom quartile K.
  6. Let’s say an additional 20 fWAR. Does that bring them to league average even?
  7. More good advice here than currently available through HHS. If you want a further scare, look at everything Chet Lemon went through after his first series of strokes.
  8. Barry/Berry from LAD fiasco. KW learning curve there. James Baldwin trade, pretty sure.
  9. He was excellent with Bill Raftery on the Wake Michigan OT game this week.
  10. Out of price range for Okamoto...he will receive something close to Benintendi money.
  11. https://global.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/46917752/mlb-free-agency-2025-26-passan-perfect-offseason-moves-dodgers-yankees-mets-tucker-schwarber 21 teams with their ideal off season moves from Passan. Sox Rockies Pirates Twins Rays etc. without one listed.
  12. His WAR totals didn't exactly light the world on fire like Teel did in the second half. It's not that easy for a catcher SS CF to finish at -0.2 fWAR. bWAR was 1.2, so a pretty large discrepancy. The relatively weak power numbers are concerning to a number of people. Not seeing that it's obvious he gets a consensus Top 50 prospect/s like Teel obviously would...especially OFers or SS.
  13. His WAR totals didn't exactly light the world in fire like Teel did in the second half. It's not that easy for a catcher SS CF to finish at -0.2.
  14. Trading Quero when his stock is down a bit is dumb anyway...unless you truly believe his power numbers are pretty much never going to improve much.
  15. Maybe they spelled the contract incorrectly and it instead read Bob Witt (Sr.), RHP?
  16. It would nice to be excited about Hot Stove League signings for the first time in years.. Yay we're not the Twins or Rockies...I guess. What mid or small market team can challenge the big dogs? Reds are talking about dealing Greene, Tigers Skubal, Pirates at least listening on Skenes, Brewers F.Peralta. Plus nobody on Okinawa knows even a single White Sox player.
  17. Unless he joins Flaherty or Giolito. NYY/Max Fried won't be having him.
  18. It was a nice 7-8 year run, filled with lots of up and downs and mostly entertaining. Thus, the death knell of the last small or mid market team like Icarus that flew too closely to the sun (and couldn't manage to overcome the mighty Dodgers, except for 2022). They went down fighting and didn't trade any of their big four free agents...now they will reap the whirlwind.
  19. Except a better stadium/entertainment district, nicer weather and proximity to more ICE staging points. Unless Seidler's widow is somehow miraculously named the financial control person against all evidence to the contrary. PE bros win out.
  20. He was really good the first half of 2025 in a platoon role but gets exposed against lhp'ears just like Sheets. He basically is an older Gavin.. although he can play LF/RF marginally better. But not by much.
  21. WestEddy can rejoice. Minus another Peter Seidler, Padres being sold off and likely torn down for spare parts. https://global.espn.com/mlb/story/_/id/46954477/padres-explore-options-including-sale-franchise Actually that franchise value is hovering in the same $1.7-1.9 billion range of the White Sox. Some debt and really bad contracts on the books to clear. Tatis Jr. and Machado would be the first to go...along with Jackson Merrill's 6 years and roughly $85 million. Ofc the White Sox aren't about to trade for Merrill or take on another Benintendi level of financial commitment. This leaves 12-13 "big spenders" among teams and 17-18 mid and small markets. SF and AZ will be hard-pressed to challenge the Dodgers' dynasty any time soon.
  22. what's the biggest new contract everyone expects just for 2026? $5 million $7.5 million $10 million Conditional upon trading Robert first? would kick the tires on Imai, but he will be too expensive as well...will probably get $125-150 million-ish
  23. They will be clearly last in all of MLB...especially if the Marlins can trade Alcantara for prospects instead of merely salary relief. They also could extend Stowers and/or Ramirez, for example.
  24. 2-3 hitters at least one TOR starter and the bullpen is still a mess everyone knows JR will never give out 4-6 year deals for pitcher any longer, so that pitcher has to be Hagen or Schultz since the 2026 first rounder 90% is a collegiate fast track hitter. So with Murakami AND that draft pick at the top...it all comes down to pitching and the AL Central being a crapshoot once Skubal is gone They're not competing THIS year though.
