Gamethread: White Sox vs Pirates 7:10 PM CSN+

QUOTE (harkness @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 08:48 PM) Hitting coach, ventura, all of them need to be gone now. Then KW and Rick Yawn better hope that miraculously changes things. Otherwise there time is on the horizon. Rick Yawn? Not quite up to the standard of Ronald Blow-a-savio last year, but not too bad. -

1) White Sox are basically always on the wrong side of umpire's determinations/interpretations. 2) Danks battled. 3) The team didn't completely give up, so there's that. 4) Nobody can understand or figure out why they're doing so poorly in the 1st inning. Post-game summary from Ventura. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:47 PM) LaRoche against a lefty = Sanchez against a pitcher. Where has Lilian been these days? -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:45 PM) Really poor decision to let Locke face Avi. Nicely done Avi Caminero throws 97-102. Maybe he wasn't warmed up enough, because that uprising came quickly. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:44 PM) I'm way too confident in an Avi bomb Cabrera was fortunate because he was stumbling around there....just not a great throw from Serpico Rodriguez in LF. -

28 innings in a row without scoring....streak finally broken by Cabrera of all people. -

8th strikeout, one away from a career high. Retired six in a row. Cy Chen, trademark/copyright pending. -
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:32 PM) f***, might as well cancel the next decade of baseball. Cubs have that s*** on wrap B. SI will finally not have jinxed someone if the Astros and Cubs face each other in the World Series, but it was supposed to happen next year.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 05:38 PM) For plans such as those to matetialize, we need another embarrassing loss. I know how people react to such comments, but tonight for example, what is benefited from a win? Changes need to be forced with any team, especially ours; and any start from here on out Danks craps the bed is preferable. Nothing is going to change otherwise Now you just jinxed Danks to get the infamous "quality start."

QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:26 PM) What's the record for games being shut out in a row? I'm almost rooting for something historically bad to happen to force some change. Probably happened in the 1900's or 1910's or early 20's. Call/e-mail Elias Sports Bureau with that question. -

Ramirez looking for offspeed stuff away and aced twice tonight on the inside. Locke two K's away from his season/career high. How many times have we heard that this season so far? White Sox team average now at .237 or .238. -
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 06:30 PM) Yeah, whatever. By 2017, it's going to be like the movie Rookie of the Year except it's real life. You'd agree if it were anybody but the Cubs. That's the funny thing about sports. Nobody is really calling the Cardinals or Giants (winners of 3/5) a dynasty, but we're using the same term with the Spurs or the Blackhawks.

QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:18 PM) Abreu just decided to finally hit the ball into the massive hole on the right side bc they were shifting. Why can't the rest of our guys do that The perfect example was I think Marte got down one strike in the count...was struggling with the offspeed stuff from Danks and promptly decided on his own to lay down a bunt despite the fact he has been one of the hottest Pirates hitters the last 2-3 weeks. That "unselfish baseball play" set the tone for that entire first inning and got Pittsburgh energized. I can't remember the last time the White Sox pulled off something like that... -

The least thing Vince Coleman and Ventura can do is tell the batters to get the hell out of the way when they strike out...so they don't get their baserunners thrown out for interfering with the catcher's throw. Cue soundtrack, "but Cabrera is a veteran professional baseball player and has to be responsible/accountable for his own actions." -

The funny thing is I'm pretty sure that Cabrera was oblivious to Eaton stealing...he was mostly just upset with striking out and forgot the situation in his "self-involvedness." Locke has given up a 1.44 WHIP this year, 104 baserunners in 74 innings. -

Haha....Eaton out on Cabrera's catcher interference. Second time this season, at least. Poor Eaton, actually swiped a base successfully and got screwed. That call is marginal at best. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 07:01 PM) Sanchez makes Morel look like Mike Schmidt I forgot the end of the line-up with Mark Johnson and Royce Clayton... Funny, because those early 2000's offenses really had a TON of pop except for the last couple of guys. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 06:59 PM) I'm fine not seeing Sanchez at the big league level again. He's had plenty of chances this year. And a good stretch at the end of last year. But he's young for his level...he'll adjust. Blah blah blah. He/it/things can't get worse, unless the Mendoza Line of .200 becomes the Cabrera RH/Sanchez Line of .100, but not sure anyone around baseball is still paying attention except scouts hovering like vultures to pick at the remains of our roster. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 06:58 PM) This is insane. Really not sure how bad some of these players have to do to lose their job. Sanchez is one of the weakest hitters I have ever seen. Esteban Beltre is one who stands out. McKay Christensen. Andy Gonzalez. Brian Simmons, who was at least a good defender. Mike Caruso. Brent Morel/Chris Snopek...PR extraordinaire Rodney McCray, but they didn't let him hit much. Dave Gallagher and most of the 1985-1987 offense other than Calderon and Baines. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 06:57 PM) Jesus Christ. 2 different innings I've switched channels to a Simpsons rerun during the commercial break, tuned back thinking "ok break should be over", and the White Sox already had 2 outs. Not even subbing Jesus of Nazareth for Sanchez or Cabrera will break them out of this. -

Cervelli just passed the Triandos record with 53.6 consecutive scoreless now for the Pirates with him catching. Probably the Pirates' worst pitcher, but we're making him look like Bruce Chen/CC Sabathia/Johan Santana. -

Garcia finally made a really good play in RF to save Danks for now. Wonder how many fans The Shark Tank will have tmrw? Just 930 left to sell, so much for that promotion...doing about as well as The Will to Win and Stir the Drink. At the rate things are going, there will be more sentimental ND/Cubs' fans filling those seats and feeling sorry for the White Sox than actual Sox fans occupying that section. -

DJ chomping at the bit to suit up and face the low movement Locke fastball...definitely pitches backward, gets most of his K's with off-speed stuff. Dead Team Walking. 1/3 more scoreless inning for Cervelli to best the Gus Triandos record. -

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 17, 2015 -> 06:27 PM) Nice catch Polonco. 11 pitch inning, more than 1/2 of them to Abreu. Polanco....Danks is absolutely DEALING this inning, haha. And 18 different specialty beers and ciders are available tmrw for the "Cole Massacre," so there's that. Father and daughter Saturday, and Selfie Sunday/s to the first 500, weather permitting. Maybe they should just offer EVERY fan who comes a chance to take a selfie??? Poor Beckham. That's got to hurt the knees a bit. Misjudged where he was at on the field.
