  1. White Sox hitting an almost inexplicable .120 with risp this month, .249 on the season. Who came name the three Mexican pitchers with more career wins than Gallardo? Not Teddy Higuera. One pitched for the White Sox.
  2. The Rangers are just giving guys like LaRoche and Gillaspie bunt singles down the 3b line because of the exaggerated shifts...at some point, at least with Conor, you have to take a shot. Guess the great plays by Gillaspie and Alberto cancel each other out, essentially.
  3. Ramirez is out there jumping around deflecting the cutoff which was meant for Sanchez...just more poor fundamentals with the defense and understanding the situation. It didnt hurt them that particular time, but it will eventually.
  4. That was crushed. First xb hit in four games for the Rangers. 421 feet. I think that's outscored 57-22 in the first inning now. Two xb hits.
  5. There would be even more if you brought Robertson in with runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs....hypothetically.

  7. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 10:22 AM) The Blackhawks, the Bulls, soccer (like she plays soccer), music... that's really it haha, I already got her a Blackhawks Stanley Cup shirt that she wanted, too I would suggest a minor league baseball game or Chicago Fire match. Maybe watch the women's World Cup matches with her this week...even if you think soccer on t.v. is boring. Are there any indie concerts with groups she likes that aren't too expensively ticketed? Would she like the Art Institute, Shedd Aquarium or zoo? Six Flags, although that can get expensive....if not, go karts and mini golf is always fun as a back-up. Inside Out if she likes animated movies. Sky diving? Rock climbing/hiking? Dinner cruise? These last two are probably too expensive...unless you can find discounts.
  8. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 11:14 AM) She actually didn't cheat on me. Just lied and misled me. I meant with your co-worker...
  9. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jun 6, 2015 -> 08:43 PM) What have you guys gotten for your girlfriends' birthdays in the past? My girlfriend's is on the 24th. Obviously I'm gonna get her something, but we're teenagers and it's only been 2-3 months of dating, so... what should I do? What are her 3-5 favorite activities or hobbies?
  10. QUOTE (Brian @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 06:48 AM) I definitely will on all life decisions. Then you wouldn't have a house. Once a cheater, always a cheater comes to mind...but 25% of people can and do change if they find the right one or start a family together. I usually laugh at people who cheat and then get upset/jealous/offended to find the person they're cheating with has been disloyal. What do they expect? Now if someone specifically enjoys the challenge of seducing knowingly married men or women, they need mental/psychological counseling. Especially when it's a person with kids that they have no interest or desire in looking after.
  11. QUOTE (coco1997 @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 09:42 AM) So for Quintana that would be: Schwarber (assuming he can stick at that position), Castro/Baez and Kyle Hendricks? Castro is at -0.5 war and has a more expensive extension in place. Hendricks wouldn't make the top five for Cubs pitchers we'd target. Hence, the problem. If they could agree on the pitcher, it would be Schwarber and Baez offered and we would only take Russell and Schwarber and the pitcher back in return. Zero confidence we could fix Baez or Castro.
  12. Why don't all African-American just join the NRA and carry guns....reverse psychology way to get to gun control? http://www.cnn.com/2014/10/10/us/guns-race/index.html
  13. Avi is a DH without the certainty of 30 or even 25 homers and a marginal OBP. What team would give you a young infielder with above average offensive and defensive upside for that? LaRoche at his age is more salary dump than the expectation of a return better than Nolan Sanburn. You can probably get a Susac or Swihart/Vasquez...at catcher, but then you blow yet another hole in your offense where you don't have a minor league replacement. It's like filling one leak in the dike with a sandbag...two more will holes will spring up.
  14. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 08:28 AM) So exactly the same as things are today? Except for the pretensions of concern for the environment, health care access, urban poor/education, gun control and salary equality for women, pretty much.
  15. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 21, 2015 -> 09:17 AM) Since June 8- Royals getting separation KC 8-3 Det 4-6 Cle 4-7 Sox 4-8 Min 4-8 And that's with Duffy and Ventura both out now, and Verlander back for two starts. Carrasco is back for the Indians. Of course, KC sweeping Minnie helped a lot...total momentum shift. And Buxton is just 2/22.
  16. Last year 33-34 at this same juncture. Doing the same thing, assuming three runs for all those games, they would have picked up just one win and two ties. So 34-33. They scored 3 or more runs in 20 of their first 24 games. In addition, we had 298 runs scored and 313 allowed, a differential of only -15. This year, only 229 scored and 298 allowed....-69 is the third worst in baseball, ahead of only the Brewers and Phils. The Phils are the only team that projects to score less, but they're in the NL. Seattle is close. We've lost 69 runs, more than one run per game, despite adding Cabrera, LaRoche, Bonifacio, Beckham and Soto.
  17. http://espn.go.com/blog/buster-olney/insider/post?id=10467 Buster Olney argues for a trade of Sale.
  18. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 11:02 PM) There's no reason to trade Sale, Q, Rodon or Danks. Once again, that's a good foursome for the future. A playoff foursome. Now what they have to do like I said before is try again with the everyday lineup and bullpen. Trade all the guys I've mentioned in many threads as a do-over and also add Duke and Robertson to the trade lineup. You are talking about another chance at acquiring productive ballplayers. Hahn can't keep striking zero on trades. Granted Melky and LaRoche and Lexi, etc., won't bring as much as before but they'll still bring something. Boston is starting DeAza for gawdsakes. Teams need name players and we got em and need to f***ing trade them ASAP! Time is wasting. We're not winning anything with these guys in the future. Trade them now. In 2008, sure.
  19. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 10:55 PM) I notice you didn't paste in the pic of him burning the American flag. Would that have made him seem a slight bit less conservative in your mind? I men, what self respecting teabagger would burn an American flag! He is evil, cloaked in racism. I would almost be happy if the police car transporting him to trial broke down in the middle of gang territory and the cops were forced to abandon the car. This is different than the Tea Party....it's the belief the U.S. Government with its quotas and affirmative action policies doesn't have dominion over the South, that the Civil War still is being fought today and that Appomattox never happened. People with this belief would only accept the Stars and Bars as their state or national flag. Do you see anything about Roof's "tax philosophy" anywhere? This is no deep thinker, it's simple racism and hatred. Even his own family members have offered to push the button and inject him with potassium chloride.
  20. Greg, watch the "You've got Trumped" documentary and tell me if you still think the same. One thing's for sure, unless you're a fellow CEO, billionaire or earn $250,000 or more pear year in salary, your life will not be seeing any day-to-day improvements. Or do you simply mean Trump would be more entertaining? Do you really want him with the ability to declare war or launch nuclear weapons? What happens when other countries won't give in to his belligerent/ blowhard style? The nominating processis way too long....but it does knock out the pretenders or attention seekers. Remember H. Ross Perot? Remember Herman Cain last election cycle? This is a guy who believes his "Trump brand" is worth $1.5 billion...and his reasons for running are less about patriotism (he never served in the military) and more about rallying falling interest in his books/shows/wealth seminars. As much as you don't like Mrs. clinton giving paid speeches, Trump does it as much as anyone. Not to mention he's on his third wife, etc. maybe not the issue it once was, but it doesn't sit well with those who believe a single divorce is one too many.
  21. Can't let the Rangers off the hook there...
  22. QUOTE (Condor13 @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 01:53 PM) It looked lile Conor stumbled on a soft grounder and looked like when he did he lunged at the ball it hit off his glove and bounced past Alexei. It was hard to tell though bc of the camera angle Very close to an error...but Ramirez wouldn't have had an easy time throwing him out from that position deep in the hole.
  23. Not liking the looks of this inning...
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jun 20, 2015 -> 08:34 AM) Which is, to note, another indictment of the White Sox coaching and development. Other teams are ok with figuring out how to develop Phegley and Semien, we get them up quickly, decide we don't like them, declare them unteachable, and then move on. We kind of did the same thing with Daniel Hudson...very short ropes. Ryan Sweeney didn't get a very extended look and he was also more productive with other teams. They didn't set the world on fire, but you also can't keep trading most of your young players and replacing them with expensive vets unless you're a true larget market team...and even at the $140-$180 million mark, there's nothing that convincing to make an assumption we'd be anything but a .500 team still. If you added Russell Martin and Nelson Cruz instead of Cabrera, where would we be? The Mariners tried to spend their way into competitiveness with Cano and Cruz and their future isn't much better than ours....it might even be worse with the Cano contract.
  25. “Sale did exactly what you want an ace to do in a situation like this,” Robertson said. “I went out there and stunk it up and gave it up tonight. It was a poor performance on me. I should have been there to pick the team up. We needed this one really bad. This one hurt.” At least Robertson took his share of the blame. Csnchicago.com
