  1. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ May 17, 2015 -> 01:57 PM) When does Dan Black become interesting? With another organization/trade...maybe.
  2. Let's hope it continues when they face the two most beatable teams in the division at home this week...do they miss Kluber?
  3. Mavs and Spurs (twice) disagree...great teams/systems or always bet individual superstars in baseball, and usually in bb, too. Heck, the Mavs weren't even a great team. That's a very generous strike zone the ump's giving Burnett...at least to Soler there. Has it been consistent all day?
  4. The theory is that the slider/cutter and curve are eroding his velocity due to being used so frequently.
  5. QUOTE (chw42 @ May 16, 2015 -> 10:02 PM) Seems like that cutter is about 1 MPH off from what it was before. It was 92-94 earlier this season...maybe "dead arm" time after not pitching as much earlier in April.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ May 16, 2015 -> 10:00 PM) Oh dear, stop it saying they need to retaliate. Last thing Sox need is Samardzija with that on his mind tomorrow. They were calling for retaliation last night too (DJ and Farmer).
  7. Can we please have a prohibition on overestimating our bullpen's actual strength? Thanks, douglas
  8. QUOTE (ron883 @ May 16, 2015 -> 09:41 PM) Do people really think Sanchez will always suck at the plate? He is only 22 and has proven to rake at AAA. I think he can become a solid hitter; to go along with being a GG defender. Proven he can rake is pushing it by a lot.
  9. We just don't have any reliable RH 8th inning relievers. Simple as that. Better than no closer at least.
  10. Why was Ramirez playing Butler to pull? He hits up the middle more often than not....
  11. The a's have the worst 7th inning pitching results of any team in the majors. Becoming a real psychological barrier...like closing games out for the White Sox last year.
  12. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ May 16, 2015 -> 08:57 PM) The only thing Avi doesn't do that is above average is take consistently good routes to the ball. He's the best player on this team right now and I really don't understand how you can rip the guy. He's still a very raw player. With the right coaching, he could be close to a superstar. The Tigers, in win now mode, didn't have the ability to be patient enough with on the job training. Now we're running into the same issues but hopefully they're correctable.
  13. We might want to take advantage offensively at some point here.
  14. Part of it is the issue now is the phobia about making outs on the basepaths...causing way too much hesitation. It's undoubtedly affecting the coaches, too.
  15. Avi just has trouble offensively and defensively reacting instinctively. Not sure he can ever overcome that. Doesnt mean he cant be a good player, but its going to be a serious limitation.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 16, 2015 -> 08:05 PM) Late in the game, of course Putting in Shuck is the equivalent of Olmedo for Alexei... Avi improving his defensive rating there.
  17. Well, both teams trying to give each other the game but it's fittingly tied. Gillaspie....sigh. Good job by Avi to pick up Abreu at least.
  18. http://pro.boxoffice.com/latest-news/2015-...d-runs-down-37m Mad Max performing around expectations...just that PP2 was 25-30% higher than what everyone predicted so its dominating the perception game. Amazingly, Paul Blart tumbles along profitably with like one positive review in the entire world. They'll undoubtedly greenlight a third one now.
  19. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ May 16, 2015 -> 07:42 PM) I hate Oakland. Those damn drums or whatever they are playing in the stands is beyond annoying. Not sure how anyone gets through a whole game listening to that Same as CLE. How'd u like to be married to the "drum guy?"
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ May 16, 2015 -> 07:42 PM) Well, there are stats to judge base running now that illustrates how inept the Sox are. It still feels like this team is just as station to station as the glory days of AJ, Thome, Crede, Konerko, Dye, Dunn...
  21. Seems all our pitchers average 100 pitches to get through 5. Of course, the defense hasn't helped much, either.
  22. QUOTE (fathom @ May 16, 2015 -> 07:31 PM) Well, you don't put yourself in contention for worst base running team in history by playing the game correctly. DJ's excuse is most other teams are bad at this too these days. That the good teams make fewer mistakes (see Twins of 2001-2010 or Cardinals, albeit not today) and let their opponents beat themselves. Great analysis, lol. He's watched it game after game for 350+ games now.
  23. Should be tied. Avi got a terrible read and then blew through McEwing's stop sign.
  24. I think anyone would take 2/3 based on our history of horrors out there. This pitching match-up isnt favorable either, but o.co is a better stadium for a flyball pitcher like Danks..especially at night.
