  2. QUOTE (flavum @ May 2, 2015 -> 08:01 PM) The Astros are 17-7. Hinch making the most of his second job so far. Marisnick made a great play on Tal's Hill. Nobody is hitting in their line-up but Altuve, and Correa's the best prospect in the game right now...getting closer and closer. Appel even has straightened himself out.
  3. Well, the counterargument to that is Matheny and Ausmus...but it just seems catchers always make the best managers. Not surprisingly, catching is one of the team's most glaring weaknesses, ever since AJ left.
  4. QUOTE (LDF @ May 2, 2015 -> 06:47 PM) look at the loyalty JR and owners get from this site. look at the, for me, holy hell i got showing and yes ranting that the sox stop too early in getting FA's. at that time, i was ranting that the sox needed 2 more players and a backup. either way, nothing is going to change, this could've been a great team to see in the playoff. the sox is missing the spark. that spark did happen and then it died in Balt. how to get it back?? i like today's game, the sox scored 3 runs. well, maybe tomorrow will be better. Against Nolasco, if you're satisfied with just three runs....well, the bar of expectations has been readjusted way too low.
  5. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 2, 2015 -> 06:37 PM) Cooper doesn't deserve to go. He deserves to be manager. The rest can go. Not based on his work this year. He doesnt have the temperamental makeup to survive media questioning him for more than 2-3 weeks, he's pretty much the anti Maddon/Showalter/Francona in that aspect.
  6. QUOTE (Lillian @ May 2, 2015 -> 06:00 PM) I've been touting Sanchez, as a better option right now than Micah. Bring him back up. Put him in the 2 hole, and move Melky into the heart of the order, where he can be a run producer. Maybe he can help jump start our pathetic offense. When Gordon Beckham and Carlos Sanchez (career minor league ops of 713 including this year's hot start) are your offensive saviors of choice you just know you're in a lot of trouble.
  7. Thats why you go after K.Morales, N.Cruz or even Adam Lind on the cheap.
  8. QUOTE (flavum @ May 2, 2015 -> 03:58 PM) Rongey doesn't get it. Reboot. Dump him and Boyer as well.
  9. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 2, 2015 -> 03:38 PM) LaRoche reminds me of Swisher. Trade him as soon as trade season begins with the rest of last year's acquisitions. Time to stockpile some talent, baby. To get Marquez, Betemit and Jhonny Nunez back? They wont even get that without paying half his contract.
  10. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 2, 2015 -> 03:35 PM) What is so hard about going on the road and beating Minnesota a game or two? Robin definitely could be fired after tomorrow's loss and nobody would see it as an over-reaction. Just for comedy sake I'd love to see Coop get the rest of the season then we hire Gardy or Leyland this offseason to work with our totally revamped team. They wont name Cooper and Leyland's too old, same with LaRussa in all likelihood.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 2, 2015 -> 03:30 PM) What organization would desperately want Shark that we could rob blind in return? It's time to start planning some big-time trades and Hahn has to win all of them. The Cubs, lol. Yankees, Red Sox, Dodgers, Giants, Cardinals, Blue Jays...if Paxton and Walker dont turn things around, Seattle. Detroit if Verlander's out through the All-Star break.
  12. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 2, 2015 -> 03:25 PM) Only way out of this mess. Fire Robin and the entire staff after the season ... after all the guys we acquired in last year's trades are shipped during the season. Start planning the firesale now and get some amazing baseball players for Melky, Robertson, LaRoche, Duke, Danks, Lexi. We have some pieces contenders will want. Go young and go for talent. There's no trade market the first week of May. Robertson being traded...means they're rebuilding again, which they cannot afford to do. And the return (die to his salary) wont be great unless there are 2-3 closers from contending teams all down simultaneously. Alexei looks older. LaRoche and Cabrera cant be moved, and Danks will just be salary relief. If you want to watch Beckham, Sanchez, Micah and Trayce Thompson play everyday....but you will be back to 2007 again.
  13. QUOTE (GreenSox @ May 2, 2015 -> 03:24 PM) Look at those hitters in the 9th. Sox haven't had a real hitter on the bench in a decade. Pinch runners, utility players....everything but a decent bat. Oh and call up Sanchez Flowers was their last bench player, the whole bench had already been used up.
  14. QUOTE (greg775 @ May 2, 2015 -> 03:19 PM) The Twins are .500 and the Sox five under. Laughable. The Twins are 8-4 at home. With that piece of crap team. But the Sox got to stretch out Rodon a bit today ... what a sick joke of an organization. No urgency. Just loss after loss. p.s. I wouldn't have pinch hit Flowers for Shuck when he had two hits, matchups be darned. p.s.s. The Sox bench sucks. It was Beckham, I'm pretty sure.
  15. I wonder if LaRussa would leave the DBacks job....kind of a no-win situation to come back to Chicago, but he supposedly misses managing a lot. Gardenhire would be an obvious in-season choice. I'd almost take Ozzie, this team (and organization as a whole) has become so mind-numbingly difficult to follow.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ May 2, 2015 -> 03:12 PM) I still believe the Sox miss Viciedo's power. Is he even on a team? Nope. Unsigned. Not even in AAA somewhere.
  17. QUOTE (Alpha Dog @ May 2, 2015 -> 02:57 PM) Just pointing that it isn't always about race, just in case. And Enron isn't alone, yo uahve almost every lawmaker in just about every state for the last 30 years that have been mismanaging and appropriating retirement funds. And all those lawmakers were also African-American? Like the decidedly non-minority Fortune 500 CEO's who are never prosecuted (see Anthony Mozilo, Countrywide Loans)?
  18. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ May 2, 2015 -> 03:00 PM) So do people think Rodon will get the spot start when our guys serve theur suspensions? I think it will be Carroll personally. Rodon I think goes back down to get stretched out when Guerra and Albers are back. Lots of overreaction in this thread. How long have you been a Sox fan? 6 and 6.5 gb with the way they're playing now (assuming Prices beats KC) is borderline nuclear meltdown time. Sure, there's 1983.
  19. Had his pitch and missed it.
  20. If Avi can hit against a righty here it will be big for his confidence.
  21. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 2, 2015 -> 02:52 PM) He hasn't given up any runs. Gave up a couple inherited, one on a soft liner to RF, another on a SF. What percentage of inherited runners have scored?
  22. Now Ventura is second guessing himself. Flowers last player on bench.
  23. Abreu on the bench with Danks tomorrow....loving those odds.
  24. The softest .286 in the big leagues. Well, he's trying at least.
  25. I officially nominate DA to replace Don Cooper. F--- it, who cares at this point, can't get any worse.
