  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 11:22 PM) Whose name would they put on the ballot then? Every team has a representative for each position. The other Brent? That's who they would undoubtedly go with, it would be pretty shocking to see McPherson there.
  2. Can they retroactively take his name off the ballot? I don't think they've started the printing process quite yet, have they? There has to be some kind of deadline when the names are submitted, maybe the 1st of May or the 15th?
  3. Cain and Cliff Lee locked in a pitcher's duel in SF, still 0-0 in the 8th.
  4. Mitchell with his 3rd stolen base, 17 k's in 53 AB's. Saladino scuffling like Morel. Carlos Sanchez with another hit and run scored, double. Conor Jackson down to .234 and cries for his promotion are quelled with the Dunn hit off a lefty.
  5. We were outdrawn 3 nights in a row by a Royals team that had an epic meltdown against the Indians this past weekend and has been in the process of losing six games in a row (now 3-8).
  6. .256, 4 HR's, 12 RBI's. The bomb he hit against E. Santana went all the way over the first bullpen on the fly in Anaheim.
  7. I guess because Ohman was completely ineffective and RV didn't want to let the Orioles think they had a prayer of getting back into this game. But yeah, it's a problem if Ohman or Stewart or Nathan Jones can't give you an inning here. Not sure why they didn't go with Jones over Reed, though. Of course, the Royals can never hold a lead against the Tiggers. Why should we expect it to change? Strange ending to that inning. I guess this is the game for our infield to make some errors.
  8. Phegley/Flowers splitting catching duties in 2013 or does one get the starting job with the other as a back-up? Only one on the major league roster? Neither? AJ back, as unlikely as that seems.
  9. Baseball. Feeling good again tonight, think if only we'd managed to take one of the first two, we'd be sitting pretty at 7-4. Always hoping against hope that Beckham, Rios, Dunn and Peavy can turn it around. Then you get these LITTLE glimpses and it sucks you back into believing they could be competitive for most of the season, because of that starting pitching mostly. Then tmrw, on another ledge again if they only take 1/4 at home against the O's.
  10. Poor Brent looks to be the only whipping boy after tonight's game. Beckham had a key RBI, Rios is getting on base, Dunn with 2 walks and the bases clearing double, Peavy looked strong again... Whereas Brent had one of his two worst games of the season (the other was in Texas where he had 4 K's, an error and then messed up the potential double play that led to the winning RBI from Michael Young).
  11. GET HIM OUT OF THERE, PLEASE. Okay...that's enough. 108 pitches. 8 K's, leaving with an un-Peavyesque 2.75 ERA after 3 starts. By the way Royals, it would be nice if you beat the Tigers at least once in 3 games, especially at home.
  12. QUOTE (iamshack @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 08:03 PM) Hawk has a crush on Hazel May. Where did she go? The new Red Sox girl isn't so bad, as brunettes/redheads usually have a way of at least APPEARING to know more of what they're talking about than the Erin Andrews types. Although I really liked Laura Okmin (sp.)? Are we the worst 6-5 or 7-4 team in baseball history? It sort of feels like that. Maybe the Padres a couple of seasons ago.
  13. Maybe that will quiet all those pressuring Ventura to bench or PH for Dunn against LHP. As for Morel, praying and miracles are needed.
  14. 18 k's in 38 ab's, if he goes 2 for his next 2, he'll be batting .500 in striking out, that's quite hard to do. Even for Adam Dunn.
  15. And Morel continues to be Debbie Downer for the Sox.
  16. AJ's BA is only behind David Wright, Matt Kemp and Josh Hamilton. And, the Beckham and Morel averages are 2 of the 7 worst in the majors. M. Byrd, Arencibia, Raburn and Aramis Ramirez are top four in that dubious category. With that walk, Dunn is back over a 600 OPS, lol. Boston Red Sox headed for a 4-9 record after tonight. Trouble in Beantown. Of course, they recovered quite nicely last year until the bottom dropped out again the last 3 weeks of Sept.
  17. 6 K's for Peavy already...continuing the trend from the Tigers' game. 7 now, you have to feel good for Jake that he's experiencing some success again this season, after everything. Hope it lasts. Guess this while quiet all the talk about his hard partying ways.
  18. Morel, 17 K's in 37 at bats, this is getting ridiculous. Dunn with 19, Beckham with "only" 12. At least Gordon's been making more contact the last 3-4 games.
  19. Starting line-up has 4 guys under 600 OPS currently. Morel at 297 Dunn at 592 Fukudome at 397 (but only 12 ab's, hit the ball hard last night though) Beckham at 338 At least Dunn is getting on base (a bit more) and Rios seems to be pulling out of it. We haven't seen the best from DeAza, but he still has a 770 OPS, shaming Juan Pierre. They also took away the "triple" that he hit against DET where Delmon Young did a 360 pirouette. And, on cue, DeAza jumps to 869 with one swing of the bat. 4-1. Nice to have some power at leadoff for a change.
  20. Dammit, 10 pitches and a negative result. That hurts. Always a concern with Peavy's endurance/stamina/pitch count in the middle innings. Already close to 60. And how the hell does Omar Infante have 4 homers?
  21. Ethier and Kemp leading the majors with 17 RBI's, AJ with 13, tied for 3rd. Interestingly enough, Chris Young and Nick Swisher both have 13 as well. Jeter and Konerko have the same number, tied for 18th.
  22. Small victories, at least Rios didn't hit into a DP and completely kill the momentum. Sure, 4-1 or 5-1 would be nicer, but when we get a bigger lead we tend to let up instead of stepping on the neck of the opponent and not letting them get back up.
  23. AJ Pierzynski, last year his 4th homer was July 25th, 13th RBI on May 22nd. WOW.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 18, 2012 -> 04:00 PM) I'm seriously not kidding. It's becoming like Godwin's law...as a Soxtalk thread approaches its 3rd page, the probability of a Joe Cowley mention approaches unity. The Art of War. Make him so overconfident that he does something really stupid (like his mentor/buddy Ozzie) and has to be fired. Fight the enemy where he isn't (or is). LOL
  25. Other than your new coinphrase, "extra at bad" (was that intentional?), which is fun, Rios is going nowhere.
