No, the Thome deal was a good one. The whole problem was the trade of Chris Young and concomitant failure of Brian Anderson to evolve into the everyday CFer. At that point, Rowand was getting more and more expensive and it was clear that they couldn't afford to keep all their 2005 WS pieces together, it was a rather logical move on one hand because Rowand hasn't earned his contract dollars for years (and he was injured a lot in Philly, too). You would have said at that time it was crazy to block one of your top prospects (if not #1 at the time) with Aaron Rowand (with a huge contract that KW never wanted or intended to give him, twice). It was the putting all their eggs in the Brian Anderson basket that was the total fail there.

Well, too bad Gordon didn't read our thread here on this issue. To me, there's still a distinction between "f-g" and "gay," but it's still a hurtful term even if it's teasing. At least he can always argue that he meant his "friend is happy," which is the original definition. Not sure why KW is noting that Getz was traded or how that's germane to the issue. But it's certainly not the equivalent of calling a black person the N-word during the Civil Rights Era. I don't even imagine the Lesbian/Bi/Gay Community can muster up a protest over this one like the Mariotti fiasco with Ozzie.

Ozzie's excuse on Beckham not bunting... That he "trusted" him to hit the ball to the right side of the infield (with how he's been hitting that way in recent weeks) or get a base hit and that he felt very confident with two lefties (Teahen and Pierre) coming up behind Gordon.

If Cooper's the manager, I think we'd all start to worry about the pitching staff again...that he was too distracted by all of his other duties to tend to the fine-tuning that's needed on a weekly basis with some of our guys.

Now what Gardenhire? Capps? Burnett? Anyone want to bet that Thornton, Sale or Santos would/will walk the first runner in the 10th? Stay with Crain? Hughes, Nishioka and Repko, bottom of the order, which means they're the most dangerous in a Sox/Twins game.

AJ had a chance to advance to 3rd on that ball to Repko but he came halfway. Of course, had Beckham bunted him over, that sacrifice fly there by Teahen would have been the game winner. Nice work, Guillen.

Perkins has been dominant. Buehrle hadn't allowed an unearned run this entire season and then, of course, we figure out a way to lose to the Twins with ALL 3 runs being unearned. Comical.

Probably will leave in Duensing for Pierre and then bring in Nathan for Ramirez and Konerko. Even though Juan has done pretty well against LHP recently.

In some ways, he's worse than Dunn because Dunn MIGHT get into one and can also take a walk.

Wilson Betemit beat out everyone in MLB in Spring Training the other year and they weren't ever going to start him. CQ as always going to be the starting RF in their "All In" year, no matter what Dayan did in ST.
