For now, SunTimes hints Amaya starter at SS (Maton Gray Baldwin Jankowski all boarded plane for Chicago)
Meidroth was never on that roster?

Who are you most excited to watch this year?
https://www.espn.com/nba/attendance/_/sort/homeTotal Reinsdorf couldn't care less about the Bulls' record. As long as they are first or second in attendance every year. Ironic that the Mars are the other team up at the top...both SHOULD have pretty disgruntled fanbases, but by and large consistently support their teams through thick and thin.

MLB continues its "regionalization"
Feww would complain about averaging more than 800,000 viewers for a 3 am (PST) Dodgers/Cubs game that started so early — but nobody would argue that MLB maximized its potential audience (starting in Japan). Consider how the other “Big Four” leagues begin their seasons. In the NFL, the defending champion hosts its annual Kickoff Game in primetime on NBC. In the NBA, the defending champion hosts the season opener in primetime on TNT (and starting this fall, NBC). In the NHL, the defending champion hosts a primetime game on ESPN. Not so in baseball. For years, MLB did start its season with a primetime, standalone showcase on ESPN, but the league has largely gone away from that since moving the start of the season to midweek. MLB has done good work in creating event programming such as games at Field of Dreams and Rickwood Field, but it has been mostly lax in setting aside the kind of high-profile, season-opening and holiday matchups that are a hallmark of other leagues. That is in keeping with the league’s broader approach that views national media partners less as collaborators in the game’s growth and more as expendable platforms secondary to local television. As long as MLB continues to treat national TV as an afterthought, so too will national TV respond in kind. https://www.sportsmediawatch.com/2025/03/monday-musings-march-madness-cinderella-future-mlb-bob-costas-mnf-foreman/

Manuel Margot an example of a player the White Sox could have picked up on waivers at the last minute instead of guaranteeing Taylor a spot/salary. Signed with the Tigers...where he will end up behind Meadows and Wenceel Perez.

Nowhere to play with Hackenberg Teel Quero at Charlotte.

For now, SunTimes hints Amaya starter at SS (Maton Gray Baldwin Jankowski all boarded plane for Chicago)
https://www.milb.com/charlotte-knights/roster Clevinger still listed here, for the moment. Eder, Iriarte, Nastrini, Shuster, Varland, Owen White, Colson Montgomery, Colas, Fletcher are all on the 40 man. Karinchak listed here, as well as Steven Wilson. Omar Narvaez and Dalbec. Cal Mitchell listed as an infielder instead of as an outfielder. Maton listed as an outfielder. Quero and Kyle Teel the main attractions, as well as Colson. https://www.milb.com/birmingham/roster Jacob Gonzalez assigned here again. Pretty weak infield. Schultz and Wik.Gonzalez two of the starting pitchers. DJ Gladney, Nishida, Tatum, Veras the main outfielders. https://www.milb.com/winston-salem/roster Hagen Smith the main star on this roster. https://www.milb.com/kannapolis/roster Grant Taylor It feels like these bottom two rosters aren't updated at all....which will probably happen in the next 2-3 days in all likelihood. Still trying to figure out what they're planning to do with Braden Montgomery.

https://www.mlb.com/whitesox/roster No Jankowski, no Meidroth, among others. No Nick Maton. No Steven Wilson. No Tristan Gray. Clevinger will probably be substituted for either Leasure or Eisert. Thorpe will be on the DL, obviously. Waiting for final updates on the Josh Rojas toe (hairline fracture) injury and OD. One would guess that Br.Ramos will quickly be replaced by Josh Rojas when activated. Bullpen is Justin Anderson, Booser, Eisert, Ellard, Gilbert, Leasure, Murfee, Vasil, Bryse Wilson for the moment.

Ishbia increasing minority stake in Sox
According to a report from Dan Hayes, Ken Rosenthal and Brittany Ghiroli at The Athletic, the Pohlads are “believed” to have an asking price of at least $1.7 billion. The Athletic writes that the Pohlads viewed a $1.5 billion purchase price that was floated by one potential buyer to be “a non-starter” in discussions. Last year, Forbes estimated the club’s value around $1.46 billion. Sportico’s 2024 valuation was more in line with the apparent asking price, as that publication valued it at approximately $1.7 billion. The Orioles, the most recent franchise sold, went for a $1.725 billion purchase price in January 2024. Interestingly, The Athletic writes that Twins executive vice president Joe Pohlad prefers to keep control of the organization. The 42-year-old Pohlad only took over daily operations in November 2022. His grandfather Carl Pohlad purchased the team for $44MM back in 1984. After Carl Pohlad died in 2009, his son Jim (Joe’s uncle) took control. Jim Pohlad turned over operations to his nephew 13 years later. It seems there’s varying levels of interest within the family about selling the team. mlbtraderumors.com

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
Looks like they couldn't find another team willing to pay enough of Starling Marte's remaining contract to be a bench player on the Mets...

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
Michael Taylor is the textbook definition of done. And there was no reason to sign him so early when he should have been an NRI like Drury Gallo Dalbec or Narvaez at the end of ST. Plus, Seattle suppresses offense. We might as well argue Rojas is done, too.

Who are you most excited to watch this year?
What the heck happened with that instructor with the Green Beret background who was going to be Director of something or other...? Haven't heard a peep about how that worked out. Yes, it's Brian Mahler, see below (it's actually NAVY SEAL, not GB): :https://www.sportsmockery.com/chicago-white-sox/white-sox-launch-front-office-overhaul-as-getz-looks-to-correct-years-of-missteps/ Look, I'm sure Mahler is a smart and successful person in his own right. But it's so classic White Sox to entrust someone who has never worked in baseball to help fix their extensive laundry list of problems. It is the definition of overthinking and cutting corners at the same time. It is the way of owner Jerry Reinsdorf. https://ftw.usatoday.com/story/sports/mlb/2024/09/17/white-sox-navy-seal-brian-mahler-no-experience-reaction/75265971007/ Director of Acquisition Matt Grabowski Director of Major League Strategy Graham Harboe Director of Sports Science Todd Kubacki Director of Pitching Strategy Rod Larson Director of Leadership, Culture and Continuing Education Brian Mahler

Merkin really loves Will Venable
Even Ozzie and Joey Cora's "Camp Cora" outside the standard practice times stuff probably wouldn't work in this day and age. Let's be honest, most of the really top minor league hitters don't focus much on advancing runners and bunting, it's just the way it is. Now defensive fundamentals are a totally different story, no excuses there IMO.

Drury Released, Varland Sent Down
Have been saying for 2-3 weeks now that Chase Meidroth hadn't shown anything in ST to force the issue. Venable was complimentary about his SS defense, but he just didn't show any life with the bat at all....I mean, Michael A. Taylor of all people was outhitting him. And Baldwin's service time clock has already been started. And, we know that Amaya has limited upside as a defense-first, weak bat guy. Go with the potential...

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
Haniger's definitely better than Michael A. Taylor...but it all depends on when you're trading Robert and how important CF defense is going to be after that trade, versus having any semblance of an offense.

3/24 Sox vs. Athletics 2:05PM CT - final spring training game
Eberly is terrible. Sox can still lose it... bases loaded. Aldrete almost drove it out of the park but it finally came down to Julks at the wall.

Ellard pulled. Palisch.

3/24 Sox vs. Athletics 2:05PM CT - final spring training game
Ellard and Murfee struggled in this one.

3/24 Sox vs. Athletics 2:05PM CT - final spring training game
Meidroth hasn't won it. Neither has Amaya. Just go with Baldwin...we already started his clock prematurely last year. Or Maton.

How do you rank Chris Getz' GM tenure so far?
Burger had to force the White Sox to let him play in independent ball in St Louis against college and high school players. Getz had nothing to do with him...he was basically written off for dead by the organization. His wife honestly deserves more of the credit for not letting him quit in frustration.

How do you rank Chris Getz' GM tenure so far?
Doesn't Paddy deserve part of the credit then for Robert and Abreu that year...and basically playing the AL Central the majority of the time?

Sox Claim P Mike Vasil
Sure, the 2019 AL Executive of the Year had to get some things right after Tatis and Semien/Bassitt. How many times did he refer to that award as a defense? When everybody supposedly wanted Hahn...he was basically a contract negotiator.
