Right but he's not going to make this roster...unless they're going to start cutting guys like Vargas and Sosa, which makes zero sense.

Berroa Bush Carela Adams....however Thorpe turns out.

The Cubs are the only team with legitimate playoff aspirations...and Bears' fans are starting to hope once again with this offseason and a new coach and draft coming up. It also feels bleak right now due to the Bulls/Blackhawks. Hope is always for spring and the start of a new baseball season.

You know there's a problem when even sports like women's NCAA are starting to become controlled more and more by NIL cooperatives...especially the massive budget SEC teams like South Carolina and LSU. It's pretty noteworthy that elite prospects don't even ask about the school/academics anymore on recruiting visits...being more concerned with guaranteed NIL salary and marketing opportunities to "establish their brand."

Over the last decade...the White Sox ineptitude/incompetence has basically forced me to follow other players, teams like the Royals and Padres and Dodgers...and also playing fantasy baseball. It doesn't mean the White Sox aren't my favorite team or that I would ever consider switching to the Cubs, it's simply self preservation as a baseball fan. The Padres' debate with WestEddy is instructive though. Because over spending as a small market team in pursuit of a World Series title, making the playoffs 3/5 years, winning four playoff series and Top 5 attendance in MLB is pretty close to what most teams outside of LA or NYC would aspire to become. And that's essentially what Matt Ishbia attempted to provide to Suns' fans as well. Something called hope that had/has been extinguished in the hearts of numerous Sox fans.

"Michael A. Taylor hitting .063 and has never been a good hitter but somehow has two walks today." Knight laying into Ashcraft as well as the cold/overcast weather today lol.

Except Ray Ray is one of the most insightful posters here...when you start losing your best fans, that's when you really have a big problem as an organization.

Why are we giving Dalbec so much playing time at third compared to Vargas Ramos Sosa etc.?

What's the point of arguing how best to be a Sox fan in the pre-Ishbia era? Really, has anyone EVER successfully changed someone's mind around here?

Fine...it's just not Sox "flamethrowers" who are getting injured. That was bone spurs. But he still hasn't proven he's going to come back at 100% yet.

The funny thing is that Thorpe Carela and Adams are not noted dominating "stuff" pitchers... Pretty sure Elly de la Cruz has more trade value than the entire Sox starting lineup...and then some.

Dreaded runner scoring from third when throwing down to second on runner stealing... Base runner at third had a bad jump but still easily safe.

Adams hurt? Back? Hip? So much for all that pitching depth. Justin Anderson will be rushed into game.

Running the lowest payroll in baseball...or right there with the Marlins, some will perceive that as not trying. Or being the third largest media market in the US but getting wildly outspent by the A's this offseason, the only other team not to sign a $100+ million contract..behind even the spendthrift Pirates. Ray Knight on the Reds' broadcast just made a joke that only the Dodgers provided pitch speeds in stadium because the Sox are such a low budget operation.

Seems they deliberately tried to create the most boring possible lineup today.

Off-Season Pass the Time Catch-All
Look at the Sox history of second round picks. Better if they just allocated the money improving infrastructure and operations.

Shane Smith has taken over as story of spring
Shane Smith should be pitching in the next couple of days...they have Leasure and Mason Adams starting these next two. Unless they're pitching him with Schultz Hagen Taylor on Sunday in the Spring Breakout game. You'd think they would prefer he goes 3-4 innings on his regular turn...which would be Thursday.

Gerrit Cole to have TJS....likely won't be back until mid-2026
https://www.espn.com/mlb/insider/story/_/id/44193839/mlb-2025-rate-losing-top-starting-pitchers-injuries-research-study-10-takeaways "This recent spate of injuries to high-profile pitchers has brought renewed attention to pitcher health," the report stated. "But these events are unfortunately just a continuation of a long-term trend. In fact, injuries sustained by pitchers in professional and amateur baseball have increased substantially over the past several decades." Indeed, the report identified 104 major and minor league pitchers who underwent UCL surgeries in 2010; in 2024, the total had soared to 281 (including 41 major leagues.

Shortstop Candidates
"He was great with the routine play." Yes but a Major league SS has to make a lot of plays that are not routine....plays in the hole or up the middle, tough throws etc. You can try to turn this into another tit-for-tat with me, but the fact is that major league scouts (for over a year) have questioned whether Montgomery will stick as a ML SS because of his size and how that impacts the kind of coordination and quickness required at that position. it's a little weak to cite "major league scouts" or Keith Law or whatever...industry sources...what were their own INTERNAL assessments? Those should be/should have been more important, since they're watching him every single day (coaching staff as well, obviously) in BIRM/Charlotte as well as the AFL (where he mostly played 3B, right?). Apparently, a lot of Sox scouts have been cut/down sized over the last couple of years. Fwiw Corey Seager's pretty much the exact same size...look at his defensive numbers the last 3-4 years, they're much better than when he was a younger player.

Benny the Jet Rodriguez...? Maybe they can get Kim (for SS) and Hope/dePaula from the Dodgers in some alternative universe where all their CFers tank and Luis Robert makes the AL All-Star team.
