  1. https://www.nfl.com/stats/player-stats/category/punts/2024/reg/all/puntingnetaverage/desc Taylor was awesome, bordering on incredible at Iowa...he had his own t-shirts, people came to games just to watch him kick because the offense frequently was so bad under Ferentz's son, but he had a relatively disappointing rookie year in the NFL. Not even in the top half in terms of net punting numbers. https://www.nfl.com/stats/player-stats/category/punts/2024/reg/all/puntingnetaverage/desc
  2. He had that one crazy outlier of a season with around a 6 fWAR...and nothing else resembling it during his entire career.
  3. Dave Roberts on what American fans can learn from Japanese fans In speaking with MLB.com, Roberts stated: “I really hope the people in the States learn from the people in Japan, how they treat people…” “In Japan, there’s just a lot of respect, and people are kind. And for us to go over there into their country, I’m very honored. Very honored.” Dodgers infielder Max Muncy echoed his manager’s thoughts, adding recently, “The Japanese culture as a whole, it’s so different from how we are over here that I’m really looking forward to just seeing everything.” “This is one of the most exciting Opening Days I’ve ever had — from a player to a coach to a manager — opening up the season in Tokyo,” Roberts said. “My aunts, my uncles, my cousins are all gonna be able to see. I love the country of Japan. And obviously, with the three Japanese players that we have, just to see how we are received, I’m very excited about.”
  4. They have Pages, Outman and k*** Rodriguez that can all play CF. It's not a crisis, it's just that it's NOT an All-Star/MVP caliber player at every position, lol. Hardly requires a desperation trade for Robert. The White Sox are inarguably more interested in dumping the salary than they are in their prospect return, that's how they have almost always operated under JR. Otherwise, we'd be "buying" a prospect or two from the Mets to take back Starling Marte's contract. Likewise, Steve Cohen won't give away too much, knowing the value of a top prospect is worth a lot more than $15 million FV. It works BOTH ways here. Need two willing parties to strike a deal.
  5. It took them until this spring training to figure that out (SS is not his best spot long-term) when we've been discussing it for months?
  6. Well, Glendale is now officially a ghost town with the Dodgers departing for Tokyo...at least the remaining Sox-focused media will have all the room in the world to operate. So there's that.
  7. Travis Jankowski MLB Career 1507 212 355 11 96 102 .236 .624
  8. .685 career OPS Last year dipped to .640.
  9. Are we talking about Jankowski? Another version of Pillar. At least he provides defensive vetsatility and insurance if Taylor totally bottoms out.
  10. Cease at least had healthy/durable/200 ip in his back pocket.
  11. Don't forget Max Stassi...never forget.
  12. Sheets powering up -- and buying in -- with Padres Lefty slugger homers twice vs. former club, including walk-off smash Sheets had played for La Russa with the White Sox during his two best seasons as a big leaguer in 2021 and ‘22. In speaking with Shildt, La Russa mentioned Chicago’s AL Central title run in ‘21 and the crucial role Sheets played. “He said: ‘You can win with this guy,’” Shildt recalled. “That’s all I needed to know from a guy that’s won the second-most games of anyone to ever manage. That was enough to sign off on it for me.” “The exciting thing about getting into a new organization is you get new thoughts,” Sheets said. “Getting to work with the guys here, they’ve been awesome. They’ve had a game plan for me, with what they’ve seen over the past, that they think can take me to the next level and be an impact player. I’m just buying in.” He came off the bench and pounded out two homers and a line-drive single. All three left his bat at 106 mph or harder. What, specifically, has Sheets altered this spring? “I’m just getting into a better launch position, being more athletic with my swing and body and trying to get my body in a position to get my A-swing off on every swing,” Sheets said. “That’s obviously what I’ve been able to do the last couple games. I’m excited about the changes.” AJ Cassavell mlb.com https://www.sandiegouniontribune.com/2025/03/11/gavin-sheets-has-rediscovered-his-stroke-in-time-to-make-a-run-at-padres-roster/&ved=2ahUKEwjaup_T5oWMAxXDke4BHU0eDmwQvOMEKAB6BAgYEAE&usg=AOvVaw1sTwzVCUrmLN3Tr05lEDiS
  13. Zyhir Hope and Josue de Paula would be the two asks...and maybe Freeland, SS...so one of those two outfielders, but they're not THAT desperate to give up two Top 10 guys. Not yet. Fallback would be Kellon Lindsay, another SS recently drafted.
  14. They have a number of choices, and Sosa's not the first....he actually profiles better at 2B and perhaps 3rd. There's also Baldwin (although I think his future is more utility), Jacob Amaya, Meidroth (more of a 2B IMO), Tristan Gray, William Bergolla, Jacob Gonzalez (mid-first round draft pick from two years ago, LSU) and Nick Maton (more a 2B again, but can play SS as well). Then you have Josh Rojas (came over from SEA via FA, who can play 3B (near GG-level), 2B (very well/above average) and SS (close to MLB average or a tick lower). He's also a decent stolen base threat but will likely be a 600-650 OPS hitter based on recent results.
  15. Well, it's pretty obvious they have an "oversupply/abundance" of pitching and catching, at least for the time being. The question is what are Lee, Thaiss and Narvaez actually worth to a team like the Mets? And the same thing with the likes of D.Martin, Perez and Bryse Wilson...although they might decide to eventually hold onto Martin.

  17. No, not really...but change of scenery moves do work sometimes. Two years ago, they had washed up versions of Matt Carpenter and Nelson Cruz. Big names/reps. Disaster. Last year, Profar, Donovan Solano, David Peralta, almost every little "under the radar move" worked almost perfectly. They also recently added Jose Iglesias for leadership/bench spot. Anything is possible. I do think if he was Baltimore, his father's shadow would lie heavy.
  18. Aaron Gleeman and his partner with Twins' podcast/Athletic/patreon make it a priority to compensate all their guests like Dan Hayes.
  19. Maybe but no pressure hitting 7-8-9 in that lineup. Zero expectations or baggage of being a second round pick.
  20. Missed a bunt earlier down 3B line with Machado conceding to play towards SS.
  21. just had to be Gavin Sheets five spring homes now .265 1.051 ops
  22. Lee swings 3-0 lazy fly to RCF Jacob Gonzalez had walked in front of him.
