Then you're going to bench Sosa? If he's Dustin Pedroia Lite as some claim...why throw away an extra year of control when we're deliberately sandbagging the season for 2026 draft positioning? For one month of mostly cold weather baseball? And if spring training play was completely meaningless, Drury wouldn't be making the team. Neither would Jankowski based on last season, but Venable trusts him as a glue player. It's kind of silly to stick Sosa at DH when they still need to decide if he can play any infield position competently...just like Vargas at 3B and 1B.
