White Sox asking for "top prospects" for Robert
Hasn't Arroyo slipped to the #80-100 range on most prospect lists? https://www.redreporter.com/2025/1/15/24344389/edwin-arroyo-cincinnati-reds-top-prospects Getting a previously-injured guy always runs a higher risk but of course you're buying at a lower price... No way Reinsdorf will eat enough money here to get this done...

Oakland/Sac. A's have committed $130 million in offseason, boosting payroll to at least $105
https://www.si.com/mlb/athletics/news/a-s-announce-season-tickets-have-sold-out-in-sacramento-01jha1q15y0g A's sold out of season tickets already in Sacramento...would be atoughly 1.35 million in attendance (81 x 14,014) if sold out the entire inventory of seats. Would be right at White Sox 2024, 1999 and 1989 attendance marks. So the Sox will "battle" for 27th/28th in attendance this year with the Marlins and Rays likely...

Rays even manage to outpayroll Sox now with HaSeong Kim deal
Some Rays season ticket members “have been upset” that comparable seats to what they had at Tropicana Field are “going to cost them more -- in some cases more than double” -- at the team’s 2025 interior 11,000+ seat home at Steinbrenner Field, according to Marc Topkin of the TAMPA BAY TIMES. Some of the upset fans have “just said no” (the team allowed memberships to be paused for the season), cut back on the number of season tickets or have “given up seats close to the field for less-expensive options.” https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.com/Articles/2025/01/22/tampa-bay-rays-ticket-price-hike

Also have to consider the QO side of this with Boras/Rays...he's now the most expensive player on their roster, with Lowe second.

MLB revenues up to $12.1 billion
Does MLB have more or less parity than NFL NBA etc.??? "Over at Baseball Prospectus, Rob Mains used the Gini coefficient, a tool normally used to measure income inequality, to judge the spread in team wins last season. A higher Gini coefficient means a more unequal spread between the top and bottom, a bigger stratification between the haves and the have-nots. He found that when it came to inequality measured this way and set against all of baseball history, last year’s American League ranked in the 68th percentile and the National League in the 44th percentile. Seems well within the norms we’ve seen historically." https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6092838/2025/01/29/major-league-baseball-nfl-nba-parity-analysis/ "If the two-win Carolina Panthers of 2023-24 had played 162 games with the same winning percentage, they would have had 20 fewer wins than the team with the most losses in baseball history, the 2024 Chicago White Sox (121)."

All things LA Dodgers Thread...
Keith Law at The Athletic wrote about 15 prospects just outside of his top-100 list, including a pair of Dodgers — shortstop Kellon Lindsey and left-handed pitcher Jackson Ferris. Lindsey was the Dodgers’ first-round draft pick in 2024 and has yet to make his major league debut. “If he shows he can pick up spin better in 2025 than he did before the draft, he’s going to be in the top 50 at midseason, because it’s tools all day and a good swing to produce quality contact,” Law wrote. "Surprised to see BA had Lindsey above Wrobleski. Shows what kind of ceiling Lindsey has. I haven't read a single scouting report that doesn't reference Trea Turner. Get consistent with the bat-to-ball and the rest of the tools will carry." truebluela.com Law has the Dodgers ranked third system, right up there with Mariners and Red Sox now. Overrated: Landon Knack A solid AAAA pitcher, no doubt. He reminds me of a Trevor Oaks type. But some on here have said he's in the mix to be our 5th starter. I do see him making the occasional spot start for us this year and providing emergency depth/innings, but that's about it. I have Bobby Miller, Wrobleski and Casparius all ahead of him on the SP depth chart.

RHP Alex Faedo of Tigers dfa'Ed to make room for Tommy Kahnle. Dramatically different numbers, 0.6 bWAR and -0.5 fWAR. https://www.freep.com/story/sports/mlb/tigers/2025/01/29/detroit-tigers-free-agency-grade-tommy-kahnle-signing-reliever-bullpen/78024255007/ B grade for move notes concerning injury history BUT "Here's another important note: He has a hilarious personality, drinks Red Bull on game days and shows emotion on the mound — all of which make him a perfect fit among the players in the Tigers' clubhouse."

MLB revenues up to $12.1 billion
https://sports.yahoo.com/fact-or-fiction-something-is-seriously-wrong-with-the-nba-165552428.html Thought this was an extremely well researched and written article...as the NBA and MLB are exactly perfectly matched in average team revenues...but the distribution is completely skewed for the Top 12-15 MLB teams vs. the bottom half of the league. "This is, for the most part, a separate conversation (widespread ASG complaints). The league implemented another new All-Star Game format because players stopped trying in the exhibition. They have been too busy complaining about it. But the end result is the same: The game's participants are undermining the product they are selling. If we keep telling everyone there is something wrong with the NBA, they will believe it, even if it is untrue.

MLB revenues up to $12.1 billion
That's a given? Down 15% at the very least...another 20-25% wouldn't be completely shocking. The biggest question is whether A's in Sacramento and Rays in a 12,500 seat Tampa High A/Yankees' Spring Training facility outdraw the Sox this year. Marlins and possibly Pirates competing for bottom, too.

"The deal, worth a guaranteed $22 million over two years, includes a $13 million option for a third year (2027) -- or a $2 million buyout if the Royals decline the option, according to MLB.com's Mark Feinsand." https://www.mlb.com/news/carlos-estevez-royals-contract

Six White Sox crack ESPN's top 100 list
Mike Caruso with more pop haha...his dad was surely a defensive specialist, but somehow he got to #30 on the majority of Top 100 lists for SOME reason/s. I personally can't claim to have watched him all that much.

Rays even manage to outpayroll Sox now with HaSeong Kim deal
Iguchi total unknown Pods down year AJ clubhouse pariah in SF Dye/Thome injured Contreras run out of NY Everett run out of nearly everywhere but Texas Uribe Rockies gave up on Marte/Thornton caught in roster shuffles was going to be released by Pitt/Seattle Jenks/Santos unwanted by Angels/DBacks G.Santos was one of the few recent "career rehabilitation" successes and we might have blown that trade as well, unless Berror can turn his control issues around.

He used to be okay in SD...except legit high leverage situations. More like the leader of the second string relievers in losses and mop up.

Rays even manage to outpayroll Sox now with HaSeong Kim deal
Over Kyle's dead body lol . Actually, studying the rest of baseball and fantasy sports makes the rest of the teams a LOT more interesting to follow. Like wondering how the possible best position prospect in baseball came out of GA Tech as a mere fourth founder and flew up the charts with a former Driveline savant's whisperings in his ear. That actually provides a little more faith now in guys like Teel and Braden if the Sox don't somehow mess them up.

MLB revenues up to $12.1 billion
They'll even sell out 20,000 seat arenas and outdraw the Men's tourney in the unique case of Caitlin Clark...people spending tens of thousands of dollars for autographed rookie cards, etc. 15,500 every home game at Carver Hawkeye vs. 2500-5000 for the men's team. The Sky were a lot more fun that the Sox their first 25-30 games last year, too.

One of the few rookie expected to play everyday...and guessing offense might be loosened up compared to all that foul ground and dead night air at the Coliseum.

Rays even manage to outpayroll Sox now with HaSeong Kim deal
TB newspaper is touting an early to mid May return. Time will tell who's right. If he was on fire for two straight months and let's say the Dodgers suffered an injury at SS or 2B, they would jump at the chance after watching the defensive impact he made (alone) for three seasons against them, although the 2023 offense might turn out to be his career peak.

White Sox 21st in MLB spending last two offseasons
Campbell and Anthony look like pretty sure fire stars and Mayer isn't far behind...wouldn't rule anything out with Boston overtaking TB and Toronto (unless they can afford Alonso too).

White Sox 21st in MLB spending last two offseasons
Well except for Burnes on an expiring deal without actually touching their farm's core. A bit like the Tucker trade for the Cubs. Half measures.

Going from Top 3-4 attendance in baseball and a party every night to bottom 2-3 crowds will end up with sad Vargas face disillusionment lol.
