That was the money bet...although it really felt like more professional prognosticators were taking Buffalo and the 1.5-2.5 points.

Imagine being in the AL East or AL West and trying to compete...that would be even more hopeless.

Comical. Kudos to Getz for turning down that move. Let the Cubs be constantly haunted by their Busch trade down the line.

Cubs get Michael Busch, Yency Almonte
"Q: Do Zyhir Hope and Josue De Paula have No. 1 prospect upside? Mayo: In a word: Yes. Hope has such exciting tools, with an idea of what he's doing at the plate. Boy, was he exciting in the AFL showing off what he could do in all areas of the game. His five-tool potential could easily land him at the top. And De Paula has the chance to be the kind of offensive performer in the outfield where it's easy to dream on him being in the Roman Anthony, Dylan Crews, Walker Jenkins, Max Clark neck of the Top 100." https://www.mlb.com/news/top-100-prospects-list-reddit-ama?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage

Keith Law's Top 100 prospects out
https://www.fangraphs.com/leaders/major-league?pos=ss&qual=350 It feels like at the very least, we need a 3+ fWAR SS (Willi Castro), Teel/Quero to add up to 3-4 fWAR at catcher and then a 3-5 fWAR CFer (already had one lol). With that foundation in place, you just might be able to compete IF IF IF the starting pitching comes through and doesn't get hurt but actually most hit their projections. Having watched two #1 loaded classes of prospects mostly crash and burn (1999-2000, 2017-2017), that's the obvious source of so much skepticism with both of those groups being stronger overall but maybe third times's a charm???

Sox are getting 6 on MLB Pipeline list
Part of it's still the lack of position player prospects compared to the Big 6 last time around. Kopech was more hyped than even Schultz and certainly Smith. And of course you had four more studs behind Michael...Giolito another #1 rhp prospect plus Cease Lopez Dunning. Uncertainty with C.Montgomery and Thorpe tempers things as well, and then having to wait 2-3 years on Braden Montgomery. Teel/Quero seem more like complimentary players at this point. Just would feel a lot more optimistic with one of the Red Sox top 3 and Sasaki. That would probably be the equivalent of the 2017-2019 massive wave of incoming prospects IMO. Paired with "amazing" #1 pick in 2026, that just might be enough to turn the Titanic around even w/o crazy FA spending from JR. Ofc those are all pipe/fever dreams...

Rubenstein of O's pushes for salary cap
Except not even Ricketts will do that...we'll see with Tucker soon enough. Your paragraph isn't at all motivating to most Sox fans...it's like the average mom and pop investor competing with the billionaire class, except we at least get scrap back at 10% rather than enriching a billionaire.

Rubenstein of O's pushes for salary cap
How could they be? You've got 12 large market/revenue producing teams vs. 18 mid and small markets. Why would those twelve teams have any interest in increased revenue sharing, tax penalties, redistributing local broadcasting revenues, etc.???

Sox Sign James Karinchak to minor league deal, NRI
Except abuse (especially psychological vs. physical) and sexual assault is always going to be a shade of grey with two contrasting perspectives. Men from let's say certain hyper-masculine cultures might have a totally different understanding. It's going to rely on concepts like a preponderance of evidence and 50%+1 vs. all jury members must be convinced to vote guilty in a civil trial situation, which would be different yet again from criminal codes.

See where Trevor Bauer stands today. Some on here were convinced he'd fractured her skull and should be locked up for life according to initial reports that were later proven false. Creepy tastes...but that's society for you. At any rate, it's not the Duke rape case or Kavanaugh...but the winds have definitely shifted where the likes of the Tate Brothers have gone from child traffickers to "empowering women entrepreneurially."

Getz: "We are... building from the ground, up"
https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/TEX/TEX201605100.shtml This was the game that ended 2016. 23-10...up 5-6 games in the division, leading Texas 11-6 and ended up losing 13-11. Then the desperation Shields and cash considerations trade for Johnson/Tatis Jr...the illusion of guys like Rollins Latos and Frazier holding the whole thing together started to collapse and they finished 78-84, playing 55-74 for the remainder of the season.

Keith Law's Top 100 prospects out
You need to have Mayo power and arm strength...basically. Colson seems like an 18-24 homer guy, but we'll see as he grows into his frame.

Robert projected to have 25/25 season
Yes I started a thread over a year ago...besides Robert/Burger, who would fans actually pay to watch hit??? Still haven't really answered that question 100%. Gor now, it's only promotional nights and certain opponents that are the main attractions.

Not sure Balta has the energy to fight against more CLE castoffs. Enyel de los Santos was good about 3-4 years ago. Same will probably be true for Karinchak.

They clearly wanted to take away Kelce...but that opened up Worthy and Valdez-Scantling for some big plays. Mahomes is still adjusting to Hollywood Brown...two more weeks now to get their timing down. And crazy how much the Eagles' terrible 2023 defense improved simply with the addition of two rookie DBs, but Cooper DeJean really fits the blue collar/lunch pail Philly image to a tee. They should have used "Jimbo" Cook more...but they really seem to believe in Ty Johnson, claiming he's the best third down back in the NFL. Still think the Bills' offense was much more dangerous in 2023 with a happy Diggs...but Cook really boosted the rushing attack. Not sure why they went away from that...part of it was a function of training in the 4th.
