  1. I was really hoping Quero would be on there....after the BA snub. Right now...so little to be able to get excited about for the upcoming season. What really got me was the Buehrle video...hearing the excitement in Harrelson's voice. Back in those days...used to live and die with every win and loss. Now that's not an entirely balanced thing over a 162 game season...but I think almost any Sox fan would tell you the feeling of following those 2005-2008 seasons or even 1990-93-94 is just not the same when you're the worst team in the history of baseball. There's always been that inferiority complex with the Cubs...but this kind of suffering is almost masochistoc. If there was a guarantee of a winning product at the end of the rainbow...but we don't even have a new stadium to look forward to again. It's like the team is being held hostage and the only light at the end of the tunnel is maybe they pass away so their family can avoid capital gains taxes. But that has nothing to do with the everyday existence of a baseball fan...especially fans that have witnessed so many losses since 2013. Meredith in mediocrity seems a heckuvs lot more competitive than a rebuild we're already skeptical will be culminating in judicious FA finishing moves
  2. Nope. Others receiving votes. Still eligible with under 50 ip.
  3. What was the vibe around Braden in your brief almost interaction?
  4. The reality here is that Rojas is by far the best candidate despite not having played the position at the big league level for the better part of four years.
  5. Even if they hit on all their prospects...Detroit Cleveland have almost the same level of MiLB talent, Minnesota has two potential superstars and incoming new ownership and the Royals have Witt Jr. already extended.
  6. https://www.soxprospects.com/players/meidroth-chase.htm Just no indication he's a major league SS. Not when you're lacking in both range and arm strength.
  7. "We had a lot of fun with the idea of a bounty, but we couldn’t be happier for this young baseball fan and his family,” Pirates chairman Bob Nutting said in a statement. “Reading his story on how he pulled the card on Christmas morning, what a magical moment. That family bond is what baseball is all about. I would love to host him and his family and follow through with a meet-and-greet with Paul and his teammates, either here in Pittsburgh or when we travel to L.A.” https://www.mlb.com/news/paul-skenes-rookie-debut-patch-card-auctioned-for-charity
  8. That's why they are three decades back to their last title...and Jerry Jones' acting skills aren't improving if Landman Ep.9 is any indication.
  9. Any word on attendance the first night? Obviously it was a much smaller (more intimate) venue than past hotel or convention center years.
  10. "Is Drew Thorpe eligible for this list? I saw him on the list of 204 that received votes. He had 44 innings pitched last year, which is less than the 50 inning rule for ROY if I’m not mistaken. Wondering where he would land. I think he was top 50 before making his MLB debut. He was on the MLB active roster for about 50 days though, not sure if BA goes by the 45 day rule?" BA.com Drew Thorpe fell into the others receiving votes category for the BA Top 100...quite the descent from last year.
  11. https://www.mlb.com/news/mlb-clubs-with-most-preseason-top-100-prospects-2025?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage White Sox one of 7 featured teams "Since MLB Pipeline started ranking Top 50/100 prospects in 2004, the Rays (92), Dodgers (84), Pirates (73) and Padres (72) have had the most ranked preseason, with a four-way tie for fifth between the Cubs, Twins, Rangers and Braves (70). The Cubs have rocketed up the list with a league-best 20 selections over the past three years. The teams with the fewest ranked prospects remain the same as last year: the Angels (40), Giants (44), Athletics (45), Astros (46) and Nationals (46)."
  12. https://chicago.suntimes.com/white-sox/2025/01/24/unbelievable-mark-buehrle-says-of-statue-to-be-unveiled-this-summer Well at least they made it through Friday night without any headline-grabbing fan confrontations like in Pittsburgh...so there's that.
  13. Gaslampball.com is so excited about Marinara Sauce they haven't even filed an accompanying story as of yet. Union Tribune sports at least dutifully reported some of his interesting splits.
  14. Im not going to pay $2000 for the latest iPhone and better formatting than my $650 Huawei will provide…
  15. For some reason thought he was closer to arbitration...at any rate, repeating is the tough part when his career results through 2023 would hardly have predicted a break out. This year pitcher will be a lot more careful with him. And your boy Luke was all the way up to #45 at Baseball America fwiw.
  16. Kind of? Logically it would be Teel Montgomery or Quero depending on MLB playing time.
  17. Not taking Wetherholt or Caglianone will also get second guessed if Smith gets hurt...the irony being that Wetherholt only was available at that spot due to concerns over lingering hanstring issues.
  18. The biggest would have been getting Kristian Campbell last year from Boston before he completely blew up. But Crochet had yet to prove he could make it through an entire season. Then on paper you would also have a 3 fWAR RFer in McCarthy...although not much remaining control.
  19. Scholtens is this decade's Scott Carroll...battling every day to qualify for his big league pension benefits.
  20. Cash Considerations Imagining statue coming soon...might have to move Crede or Uribe out of the way. Let's not hire the D-Wade artist on the cheap please. Fortunately JR commissioned a bunch of work to be done simultaneously in order to get a 15% discount...
  21. Seems like some type of board violation...albeit a rather tame/non-vitriolic one.
  22. Prospect Points...reverse ordered, so top prospects overweighted but teams also rewarded for multiple guys notice four Central teams comprise Top 9...Padres and Jays wiped out by Sasaki decision while Dodgers just get stronger 1. White Sox=364 2. Detroit Tigers=337 3. LA Dodgers=317 4. Boston Red Sox=307 5. Seattle Mariners=263 6. Chicago Cubs=253 7. Cleveland Guardians=263 8. Phillies=212 9. Minnesota Twins=202 10. 23. Well now Rivera is involved in an off the field scandal involving his NY church and abuse of an underage girl...covering it up to protect Assemblies of God ministries.
  24. https://www.mlb.com/news/top-100-prospects-list-mlb-pipeline-preseason-2025?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage Here it is...
  25. Same exact place on Pipeline/#39. Huge difference of opinion on Quero...#66 at MLB Pipeline.
